›⠀he is such a flirt – he flirts with you all the time, it gets cute and charming tedious and annoying (you tell him so quite often).

›⠀he can act like such a child sometimes that you wonder how he survived on his own for as long as he did. after a week of working by his side you are tempted to send pepper a gift basket – you truly believe that woman is a treasure and deserves a raise.

›⠀you often find yourself surprised by just how clever and smart he can be, you're not sure why that is seeing that you've read all of the files shield has on him (which is quite a lot), but you are. you can admit to yourself that seeing him in his element is pretty nice.

›⠀not that you would ever tell him that. nope, not happening his ego is already big enough as it is.

– you absolutely do not hear his voice in your head, making some flirty remark how that's not the only thing that's big.

›⠀he has a bunch of nicknames for you, each more absurd then the last one. and sure, you personally thought him using silly nicknames for everyone was funny (or at least you used to, until he started using them on you).

– you don't tell him to stop using them tho.

›⠀you aren't surprised when he hacks into shield and reads every single file on you that he can get his hands on. "you've read mine, it's only fair i get to read yours", is his only response when you get mad.

– it's a sign that you've been spending way too much time with him, because somehow that makes sense to you.

›⠀you are however surprised when he tells you to take a day off on your birthday, it's shockingly thoughtful and kind. you don't take the day off but the gesture still counts. he teasingly calls you a buzzkill (that is less shocking).

›⠀it takes you about a month to get used to his sarcastic nature. it is a long month full of you calling him an ass under your breath.

›⠀it only takes half a month for him to make a remark on handcuffs and how he wouldn't mind you using them on him. he even goes as far as to call you "agent" in that annoying flirtatious voice of his. you can't really tell how that conversation started or how you got onto the topic of handcuffs but you call him a perv and storm out of his office in a huff.

– he apologizes the next day. you swear you hear him say "i was just being honest" under his breath but you ignore it.

›⠀it's little over two months later that you realise he's grown on you. one of your bosses makes a comment about how stark must be behaving because you've been much less annoyed the past few days – and you go "oh fu*k" because stark's been his usual self, you just stopped minding it.

›⠀luckily for you, tony doesn't notice the change in your attitude. or at least he doesn't mention it.

– later on you learn that he did notice, he just chose to keep his mouth shut instead of teasing you about it. it's one of the smarter desicions he's made.

›⠀it's only once you've told him that you have been given a new asigment and that you'll no longer be the agent monitoring him that he asks you on a date.

– you say no the first seven times. but he is nothing if not persistent. you give in and say yes when he asks the eight time. "oh come on agent, live a li- wait... did you say yes?"

›⠀the date is very nice and to your endless surprise he doesn't make a single sarcastic or obnoxious comment the whole evening. he even takes you to one of your favorite restaurants in town.

– he is nervous the whole night, adorably so. you only tease him a little. "you've teased me, it's only fair i get to tease you", you go and use his own words against him. "aww you do listen to me when i talk, i was 50/50 if you actually payed attention or if you were just rolling your eyes every time i opened my mouth." (correction: make that one sarcastic comment.)
