Hi! I just read Ren's 'Birds of a Feather' fic and i really loved it! Carver is one of my favourite characters. I also really liked how you wrote the reader's brother, i could really relate to how terrible their relationship is with their brother. I really enjoyed it, and if you are going to continue it, could i please be tagged in it? Thank you!
I’ll do my best to remember! I’m really bad at tagging people, but we’ll see how it goes. I do indeed plan on continuing it!

Nature’s Shackles (Fenris x Female!Hawke Hanahaki Disease AU) Part 1
An idea I had for the longest time and started up in April of 2018. Recently I’ve started to really pick this back up. Since it’s so long I’ll save everyone some trouble and post it in smaller parts lol.
For those who may not know what the Hanahaki Disease Au is, the au is about unrequited love. If one person loves another, but it is not returned, they start to grow flowers in their lungs. Over time, the flowers make it harder and harder to breathe, with the individual coughing up petals more and more often. Eventually, the person suffocates if the love is still unrequited. The flowers can be removed, but if they are, the person is unable to love or fall in love ever again. However if the love is ever returned, the person afflicted is cured with the flowers disappearing.
Basically this au involves a lot of angst so be warned.
Word Count: 3,246 words
Warnings: Angst, Implied/referenced sexual abuse (Danarius asserting his sexual control over Fenris as his master, but nothing graphic. If you want to skip the parts where it’s referenced, they are in the italic flashbacks but the specific paragraphs will be marked with a *) blood will be coughed up with the petals in some cases, but it gets progressively worse, canon-typical violence and gore

Hey can anyone tell me if you’re supposed to capitalize the “m” in “mabari” or not? The wiki page has both and I’m losing my mind over it. is it capitalized in the games at all???? I just want to know for fic purposes so I’m not always second guessing myself.
I’m like 8.1k words into this fic and I don’t want to have this wrong before I’m too far in to this.

Final rewrite word count before I pass out for the night: 3,873
So I had like 8.5k in words for a Dragon Age Hanahaki fic I was working on but I recently decided that I could do it better so I’m rewriting the whole thing and today I made it 1.5k words in and I’m honestly really happy about it because I’ve been working on this since like the end of last April.
ANYWAY. If any of y’all are interested in it it’s another Fenris thing but feel free to send me asks about it as it’ll only fuel my motivation to write this thing and get it tf done. -Terra

Hanahaki aus are literally one of my favorites things and yet I have never seen it done with a dragon age character, and to say that its exciting to know that you're writing one would be an understatement. Good luck writing! and take as long as you need ♡
THANK YOU OMG
This literally made my night I love you anon. Honestly I haven’t seen one either and I’m really surprised because?? The angst??? The potential??? THE  FLUFF????? Maybe I’ll end up doing a whole Hanahaki Au series with all the Dragon Age companions or something if people want to see it?
But seriously thank you!! I know I said originally I was 8.5k words in but I wasn’t even halfway through what I had planned out at that point so I have no idea what the final word count is going to look like but the thought of breaking even 10k words just shocks me because I haven’t hit a goal like that in so long that I thought I was just incapable of it anymore and idk I’m just really happy about this fic it was only supposed to be a short little one-shot but now it’s this huge thing and it just really.
Maybe I’ll reblog a wip ask game or two while I write this so you guys can get sneak peeks or something in the meantime. I’ve also been posting literal screencaps of everything as I’ve been writing it in our discord lol -Terra

Ah, it's so nice to see new dragon age blogs on here! I never really checked out much da content online until here recently and sadly a good portion of the fandom isnt active anymore so I get so excited when new blogs pop up, I cant wait to see what you guys create!
Thank you so much! I only really got into the tumblr side of the fandom back around 2013-2014 when Dragon Age Inquisition was coming around, so a lot of the DA blogs I had followed have dropped off or moved on which is unfortunate. I’m hoping that with the teaser we had gotten everything starts to pick up again as we get closer and closer to the next release! We also are really looking forward to posting more for this blog! We’ve actually had the url for like half a year but we were always too busy to properly start it before now lol -Terra
Thank you for this!!! It definitely helps us to have some motivation with asks like these! We were all a little worried because the DA fandom on tumblr has been a little scarce lately lol. We’re so excited to upload some content, and hopefully the fandom will be a little more active once we get closer to the fourth game releasing, as Terra said. Thank you for the support, anon!! -Gabby

Birds of a Feather (Carver Hawke x Reader) Part 1
A/n: Hey guys! This is the first time I’m posting a fic for Dragon Age. I have a huge soft spot for Carver Hawke, and since incest is a no-no, I decided to start a Reader-insert series. I’ve been writing reader-inserts for five years, so here’s a way for me to stay in my comfort zone and to be in my element! - Mod Ren
Word Count: 1,932
Summary: For your whole life, weapons and combat were all you knew. Crafting weapons became the family business, and it was quite a successful one. You and your older brother, Edyn, took the mantle and got to the top of the weapons trade in Kirkwall. You were taught that business and family were your priorities, and that was all you needed to worry about. Then came along Carver Hawke. He was brash, rude, and seemed to get on every last nerve you didn’t even know you had. But maybe the two of you had more in common than you realized.
You careened around the corner, trying to lose the small group of unhappy men behind you. They recognized you from the various weapons deals you organized specifically theirs. From the looks of it, they weren’t satisfied, and they were not going let it settle it verbally. Starting a fight in broad daylight was comical; you decided to run instead.
So, like you almost never did, you went into the Hanged Man to hide.
You burst through the doors, capturing the attention of most of the patrons, and you went straight to Varric’s room, or whatever he liked to call it. You knew him quite well; you met him after royally pissing Batrand off. Since then, a solid friendship formed.
You were moving so fast, your shoulder clipped the door frame and you tripped over one of Varric’s many books. A loud THUD resonated around the room, and you wouldn’t be surprised if the majority of the tavern heard it.
Varric stared at you as you pulled yourself back to your feet with a grunt. “Nice of you to drop in, (L/n),” he chuckled. “It’s been a while. What brings you to my humble abode?”
“Oh, you know,” you promptly noticed a woman and a man standing next to him; you assumed the two of them were related, but otherwise, you didn’t recognize them at all. “the usual.” You grabbed the edge of the table and pulled yourself up from the grungy floor.
“You never come here, so there isn’t a usual that I know of.”
You paused, and then nodded. “Ah, right. There were some people who aren’t very happy about their order they made a while back. I reckon they want a refund, be it by getting their money back or by causing physical harm in my direction.”
“I don’t know why I expected it be a normal friendly visit...” Varric sighed dramatically.
You just rolled your eyes and sat in a chair next to him. Might as well stay and chat for a while.
He re-situated himself and gestured to the two strangers. “This is Hawke and her brother, Carver. I’m sure you’ve heard of them.” Varric was eager to introduce them to you, or was it the other way around?
You frowned, trying to recall the names, but nothing came to mind. “Can’t say I have,” By all three of their expressions, they must’ve found it surprising. “am I supposed to know?”
“At least one person doesn’t know who you are.” Carver grumbled to Hawke.
“I don’t really make it a point to know everyone Kirkwall. There are only so many things worth putting my time into.”
“Like doing back-alley deals?” Carver snapped again.
He was already getting your nerves. “Like working for a seedy man who runs a mercenary gang?” You narrowed your eyes. How dare he call your job “back-alley deals.”
“So you do know who we are?” Hawke added; she wasn’t nearly as hostile as her brother.
You shook your head. “I recognize the armor; it’s weak. He doesn’t know what decent and nice-looking armor is. I bet your blades are shit, too.”
Tension was slowly rising, but Varric was adjusted with your behavior and personality, and knew just how to deal with it. “Her brother is the best weapons dealer and rogue Kirkwall has ever seen. Does his business selectively; if you piss him off, and you won’t be a customer.”
You gave the dwarf a death glare. “And I work with him! Don’t give Edyn all the credit; most of the time, I’m the one doing the real work!” You had a sibling rivalry issue yourself. Edyn was the oldest, strongest, and a man. Of course, he was more noticeable than you. However, you were the one who made the connections, got information, and secured the deals. Edyn always ended up stealing your thunder.
Varric held his hands up in surrender. “My bad, (L/n), didn’t know I would hurt your feelings.” He teased, but you just grumbled.
Hawke glanced at Carver, and you wondered if their relationship held any similarities to yours. Maybe you and Carver had more in common than you realized?
You threw your legs up on the table and got comfortable. “Since we’re on the subject, you’re our favorite customer Varric. Just finished some new arrows, and I did some work on them to fit Bianca. Sharpest arrows I’ve ever made.”
You and Varric launched into a deal as if Hawke and Carver weren’t even there. And you liked it that way; you didn’t know them, they didn’t know you. While you wanted to be acknowledged for you exceptional work, the less people who knew your name, the better.
                                                             -
Hawke and Carver had long since sat down, and eventually joined the conversation. You and Carver occasionally snapped at each other, but that irritation was quickly ushered away each time.
You heard heavy footsteps coming down the hall and you muttered, “Lovely...” Immediately after, Edyn appeared in the doorway with a scowl on his face. He looked very angry.
“Edyn! Come on in; stay a while!” Varric said with a hint of sarcasm. Edyn wasn’t exactly his favorite person.
“Varric,” Edyn’s voice was cold and deep. He looked down at you and his tone became sharper, “(Y/n).”
“Brother,” You said in a sickeningly sweet voice, with a smile to match. “nice of you to join me! Meet my new friends!”
“I’m not your friend.” Carver sneered.
“Shut it, Carter!”
“It’s Carver!”
Hawke pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed. This was either going to end decently, or it was going to end in disaster. The latter seemed more likely.
Edyn introduced himself in a few syllables, but he took more time with Hawke. Smooth, and confident.
He told her, “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Hawke.” He grabbed her hand and gently kissed the back of it, and she promptly pulled her hand away as politely as she could.
You scoffed openly. “You sure your wife is going to like knowing you greet other women that way?” You looked at Hawke. “You’re lucky; I can’t remember the last time he showed manners like those.”
“I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen any man with manners like those.” Hawke replied, and you grinned a little. You liked her more than you thought you would.
Edyn was not amused, “She wouldn’t believe you even if you told her,” his wife didn’t like you in the slightest.
“Of course she wouldn’t. I don’t know why you married her; the bitch that hates your sister and tried to kick her out of the house.” It was true; she did everything in her power to throw you out, but Edyn at least cared enough to keep you.
Edyn didn’t even try to deal with you as you insulted his wife. “Let’s get going; we have a buy in Hightown at midnight and we still have to get everything together.”
Like always, the only days he could spend time with you, were wasted with deals and purchases and trade-offs and what not. You missed the days when you actually had a brother, not a business partner. That was one of the few things that could make you shed a tear.
Growing up, you were taught that crying was a weakness. You weren’t supposed to get attached to anyone but family. Edyn didn’t seem to care about your well-being anymore, and it left you bitter and cold towards him. What’s the use in trying if he didn’t love his sister, his only living family, anymore?
“What a shocker. You’re never here to simply see me, your sister, only to get me because there’s a job.” You sighed. Edyn opened his mouth to say something, but you didn’t want to hear it. “Oh no, no need to apologize. Not that you would. Anyway, let’s get going to do the job you always take the credit for! What fun!”
Varric didn’t know if he should laugh at your thick sarcasm or stay silent as you walked out the door. Edyn had a death grip on the back of your chair and a scary expression on his face; he didn’t want to deal with any of your shit.
Upon seeing Edyn’s reaction, Varric courageously came to your defense. “She’s right, you know,” his input earned him a threatening look from the man two times his size. “(Y/n) does just as much work as you do in your family business, if not more. And Maker forbid you actually act like her brother.” It seemed like your friendship with Varric was stronger than either of you thought.
“I didn’t come her for a lecture, dwarf. Keep to yourself, will you?” Edyn snarled and he went after you.
                                                             -
Hawke stood there awkwardly after Edyn left. She didn’t know what to say. You seemed nice enough, Varric trusted you. And you clearly knew what you were doing, instead of being an immature rookie who bragged and over exaggerated.
She’d be a good ally; She’s sure of it.
“Quite the pair, those two,” Carver said. “they’re-”
Varric stopped him in his tracks, “I can tell that you and (Y/n) aren’t going to get along, but you really do need to be careful with your words. If we can get her and Edyn to supply us for the Deep Roads, we’d almost be untouchable,” He was completely serious. “I’m already getting the high-quality stuff. For me, at least. No doubt about it. Get on her bad side entirely, or both of them, you’ll be left with a dull sword and armor weak enough to be every-day clothes.”
“Isn’t he already on her bad side?” Hawke asked. She was amused by it. “Looks like you’ll be Darkspawn bait, Carver.”
“She’s very tolerant, believe it or not. You’ll definitely be able tell if she outright hates you.” Varric informed them.
Not only were you a close friend, but a very valuable person to have on his side. You were close enough for him to know your backstory, how you got to Kirkwall, where you lived, what makes you happy/angry/upset, things like that.
Varric himself had yet to make you angry. He once saw you get angry at a dishonest customer, but he had no idea how truly angry you could get. No one did.
“Two questions,” Hawke inquired, “first one, how do we stay in her good graces?”
“Simple. Don’t lie to her face and try not to be an asshole,” Varric yawned. “not hard at all. Next question.”
Carver knew the next one. “Where do we find her?” He assumed that you were going to be a hard person to find.
Varric grinned. “You don’t find her, she finds you. Usually. I know where she stays, but I found that out by accident and I’m not telling a soul.”
“Can I get a hint?” Hawke joked, “Just give me a general area. I won’t send a search party, I promise!”
“The only hint I’ll give, is that she’s in Kirkwall.”
Hawke rolled her eyes. “Thank you, Varric, that really narrows it down... Do you know if she and her brother sell staves?”
The dwarf shook his head. “No, I believe they only have staff blades. They’re not big fans of mages, so keep that in mind.”
“Why?”
“I don’t think she would care if I said anything, but I’m going to play it safe and keep my mouth shut. Sorry, Hawke.”
Hawke nodded, accepting the answer she was given. Granted, she wanted to know, but respecting your privacy was something she was willing to do.

Tales from Thedas: Prologue
Summary: This is one of the many tales from Thedas. But, it is, as scholars say, the most important. To know the story of the Fifth Blight and everything beyond, one must start with the story of the heroes.
Author’s Note: Hey all! This is my first dive into writing from DA, and I’m very excited! I’ve been working on this forever, and I couldn’t do this without Terra. She, quite literally, finished my thoughts for this part of the story. My plan is to write stories about everything from the Fifth Blight and beyond. I want to almost create my own anthology for this world. The first installment will obviously be based off of Origins, and centered around my Female Cousland and Alistair. -gabby
Warnings: birth (not graphic)
9:10 Dragon
Somewhere in the Frostback Mountains
“Dearest M,
I sincerely hope this raven makes its way to you. This may be blunt, and a little forward, but I have come to care for you a great deal. Our time in the deep roads has made me realize that life is too short to waste. I would like to visit you, once this expedition is over. If I do not get a reply back, your answer will be clear to me.
-F”
“F,
I would love nothing more than to be able to see you once again, as long as there is time in between our duties to spare. I have not felt this way in a very long time, and I can only wish we could spend forever together. Unfortunately, that is not so. But, if you will accept, I would hope that we will spend whatever moments we can together.
-M”
“M,
I would accept with all I have to offer, but there has been.. a setback. I am with child. Your child. I thought it was impossible for me to bear, but it seems that you have a habit of making the seemingly impossible very probable. As per my duties, I will not be able to raise the youngling. If you had harbored any true feelings for me whatsoever, please, find a safe haven for our child. Do not allow the child to know of their mixed heritage, and do not allow them to be raised in court. I want our child to have a chance of being.. Normal.
-With all my love, F”
“F,
I truly am at a lost for words. I apologize for the length of your wait for this letter. I was making preparations. The Arl of Redcliffe, Eamon Guerrin, will provide the child with a home, and a suitable backstory. Send the child with only your best warrior. I only wish I was there to meet him with you.
-M”
The wind was harsh and relentless as the young man trudged through the snow, holding a bundle tight in his arms. His brown hair, just coming down to mid-neck, was tangling in the breeze. He would normally wear it back, but he needed to provide some warmth to his ears on this day, lest they freeze off. At least his armor was padded enough. The blue and silver chainmail blended in with the background, the only thing standing out was the golden griffon on his breastplate.
He was beginning to tire, but he marched on as he looked at the bundle in his arms. A tuft of blonde hair stuck out of the small blanket, a soft cry muffled by the fabric. He had to make it to Redcliffe. For the child.
“M,
The child will be brought to Eamon by Duncan, an outstanding warrior and one of the brightest men I’ve met, if you do not remember him from the expedition. He has orders to stay in Redcliffe until our son is settled. Our son. Even on paper, the words do not quite sound right. So I shall call him by his name…”
      For Alistair.
9:11 Dragon
Near Highever Castle
The sound of wood clanking against wood echoed in the brisk, winter air. Snow fell lightly as the sun began to fall. A young boy ran towards a man with his training sword held high, and with a loud grunt, he disarmed the older man. In doing so, he lost his footing and fell face-first into the snowy ground.
A low chuckle escaped the older man’s mouth as he watched his son struggle to get up from the thick snow. “Fergus, while you are getting better, you still have to hold your footing. No man on the battlefield will spare your life just because you’ve fallen.”  He helped his son up, and dusted the heavy snow off of his wool armor.
The man’s gentle brown eyes lit up, “Besides, you do want to show Cailan how much you’ve improved, yes?”
Fergus rolled his eyes and laughed, “Cailan wishes he was as good as I am, Father.”
The father smiled and shook his head, “You won’t be saying that in a few weeks when he and the King come to visit. Keep practising, my boy. You need all of it you can fit in if you wish to see that statement through.”
The young boy smirked, and picked up his sword. “You said I needed practice? No time like the present!” And with that, the two were sparring again.
This time around, the session seemed to last for hours. Neither of the two let up their attacks. In fact, they both seemed to be growing more fierce as the session wore on. That is, until they heard the pounding of horse’s hooves against the snow approaching them quickly.
The older man set his hand on his son’s shoulders and gently pushed him behind. However, his grip relaxed when the horse was close enough for him to recognize the insignia on the saddle. The Cousland Crest. His crest.
The horse slowed down, and the messenger on top hastily climbed down and bowed to the older man. “Teyrn Cousland, sir.” The boy seemed out of breath, as if he was hurrying to find the two others. “It’s the Lady- it’s happening.”
Fergus grinned brightly, while his father’s eyes widened. Teyrn Cousland spoke up, while picking up his son and placing him on his horse, “How long has it been since it began?!”
“A few hours, at most, your Lordship. I have been looking for you since Nan informed me, as have many of your men.”
The Teyrn sat behind his son on the saddle, hooking his feet into the stirrups and making sure he had a tight grip on both the reins and Fergus. “Well, thank you for finding me when you did. If we had missed this, my wife would’ve had all of our heads.”
The two horses sped off towards Castle Cousland, galloping hard as Fergus excitedly asked his father questions. The Teyrn couldn’t help but smile as he listened and explained the situation to his boy. Fergus was going to be a great older brother to his new sibling.
As they reached the castle walls, the guarded gates quickly parted once they saw who it was. The horses slowed to a stop once their hooves reached the stone floor, resting long enough for the Teyrn to hop off, grab his son, and for the stable boys to return them to the stable.
The next few hours were excruciating. The teyrn couldn’t do anything but pace and wait for an update. Luckily for him, Fergus was being watched by Nan in his room, so that was one less thing he had to worry about. Finally, in the early hours of the next morning, Bryce was finally allowed in the birthing chamber. As he entered the room, the midwives were cleaning up the area. His attention quickly focused on his wife, who was sitting up in the bed, holding a bundle wrapped in sheets.
Bryce walked towards his wife, smiling gently as he sat down beside her. Eleanor looked up at him from her position, grinning with tears in her eyes. “I cannot believe that we have a daughter.”
The midwives quietly left the room, giving the nobility a moment alone.
“She’s beautiful.” He mumbled, his voice was soft, as if anything louder would statter the aura of tranquility that surrounded the couple in this moment. The child was still in her arms, having by now fallen asleep as her mother held her. She looks serene, small tufts of dark brown hair sticking up in every which way from her head. He felt a smile pull at the corners of his mouth, and a tug at his heart.
“Do you want to hold her?” His wife asked. He tore his gaze from his daughter with extreme reluctance to look his wife in the eyes. She looked worn, her eyes bright and full of love but he could see the weariness that pulled at the corners, the drying beads of sweat on her brow left over from her ordeal.
“I would love nothing more. You get some rest, no harm will come to her under my watch I promise love.” She smiled, a tired, dreary smile and passed the small bundle into his waiting arms. Now that he held her it dawned on him how frail she felt held up in his much bigger hands. It was easy to forget that Fergus had once been the same way when looking at him now. “What shall be her name?” He whispered, catching his wife’s eyes once again.
“Ryelle.”
He felt a surge of protectiveness sweep over him as he gazed upon his youngest. He would keep her safe with everything in his power. His daughter, his Ryelle.

Something to kick this blog off! I wrote this back in september of 2018! -Terra
After the Leap
So we had a prompt exercise in my Creative Writing class, and the prompt I chose was “I told you this was going to happen” because of all the angst feels it gave me. So I decided to write the during and aftermath of “Here Lies the Abyss” from Dragon Age Inquisition with my Hawke and Fenris but in really vague terms for the version I turned in lol. This is the revised one where I changed the names back from the fake ones I used. I hope you guys enjoy!
Words: 733
Warnings: Character death, mentions of violence and gore, angst

Ren will write:
I DO READER INSERTS BY THE WAY
I write with Fem!Hawke, Fem!Warden, and Fem!Inquisitor.
I’m only comfortable writing hetero relationships, sorry!
I use the default names, so please don’t suggest your own chosen names for the playable characters.
ONLY Warden/Hawke/Inquisitor/Reader x Character
I can do platonic fics! I love em!
I will not write: Male x Male, Female x Female, and I’d like to stick with female pronouns, please. I don’t write ships, either. (Ex: Fenris x Anders, Morrigan x Alistair)
Terra will write:
I’ll write pretty much any pairing in accordance with the general rules
Also write for default Wardens/Hawke/Inquisitor or one of my Wardens/Hawkes/Inquisitors (please specify in the request)
Only friendmances for da2 romances. I feel personally uncomfortable with the rivalmances as they feel somewhat toxic to me
I will not write: Fenris x Anders, Varric x anyone other than Bianca (the person lol), and Dorian x any female. (more may be added, but I think you get the gist of the type of ships I’m not okay with)
Gabby will write:
     1. I will write for my Wardens/Hawkes/Inquisitors. I’m not quite sure if I’d be            comfortable writing for default characters or anyone else’s. But this may              change with time.
     2. Along with Terra, I will only write friendmances for DA2.
     3. I will not write: Fenris x Anders, Varric x anyone other than Bianca (the person lol), and Dorian x any female. (more may be added)
Please check back often for any changes/updates!

Introduction: Ren
Greetings! I’m Ren! I go by she/her pronouns, and I am 18!
Terra is the one who originally got me into Dragon Age. How? I have a kink thing for deep voices, and she had me listen to Fenris’ voice. BAM. It didn’t take much and the reason is a little embarrassing, but I’m glad she managed to get me hooked on Dragon Age.
Since a little more than a year ago, I’ve put several hundred hours into the Dragon Age games on Xbox 360. I always have different possible fanfic plot lines in my mind as a play, some of which drive me insane.
For example, I have a Carver Hawke x Reader fic in my google docs and I write it in my head A LOT, but Terra informed me that the Dragon Age fandom doesn’t have a big reader-insert audience from what she’s seen, so if I post any, it’ll be either from request or personal satisfaction.
I’m looking forward to running another a blog with these two ladies!
