A Writer’s Mantra
Give yourself permission to fuck up a good idea.
Give yourself permission to write a thousand shitty words.
Give yourself permission to raise that number to a million.
Give yourself permission to write things that do not feel like they’re working.
Give yourself permission to suck.
Give yourself permission to lose the thread of your plot over
and over
and over again.
Give yourself permission to walk away from something for a while.
Give yourself permission to experiment, even if it’s something you feel sure no one will like.
Give yourself permission to write the bad thing.
Give yourself permission to write lots of bad things. Boring things. Things that have been done a million times.
Give yourself permission, and power through.

Thinking about modern au Vox Machina again. They all live in the same house that Percy owns. Vax streams because he refuses to get an actual job. Scanlan is trying to make a living off of his music. Percy works way too many shifts in a row so no one ever knows when he's home or not.
Vex volunteers at the local animal shelter and is working her way through college. Kiki is a full-time student. Pike works as a nurse at the local hospital with weird shift times. Weirdly enough, Grog is the only one with a standard 9-5 because he works at the gym.
Vax and Scanlan never pay their rent and Percy constantly nags them about it. There's a chore list that no one ever follows besides Percy, Pike, and Kiki. Vax is banned from keeping a mini fridge and microwave in his room because he had too many things plugged into one outlet and caused an outage. Trinket is the biggest, fluffiest dog ever.
Keyleth has a ton of plants everywhere because she can't fit any more in her room. Percy has a specific chair in the living room no one else can use, as well as a cup, plate, and bowl that are all his. Vax makes blogs and TikToks about their group, and starts getting a real following from it.
They make a channel called Vox Machina where they post random shit like Pike trying to teach Percy and Vax how to bake but they won't stop messing with each other and it ends with a messy kitchen, flour handprints on Percy's ass, Pike's disappoint ment, and Vax covered head to toe in flour.
Modern AU my beloved ❤️❤️❤️
#percy for sure has a trellis ladder up to his room and doesnt even use the front door anymore lest his housemates keep him from his bed#in a well meaning manner of course but still the 'welcome home's and chitchat are keeping him from his bed#critical role#critical role campaign 1#cr vm#percival de rolo

My 2024 Reading Recap
I can’t believe 2024 is already drawing to an end! This has been another great reading year for me. While not quite the high of 2023—which I called one of the best reading years of my adult life—I’m quite happy with both the quality and quantity of books I read this year. I’m still adding my August books to the Book Snake… Continue reading My 2024 Reading Recap
