Don’t Kill Me.
I’m somebody’s boy/son
Don’t Hurt Me.
Your fear isn’t proof I’m a menace.
Don’t Hate Me.
You may think you know me, but you don’t.
Don’t Take My Life into your hands,
Because this is not your life to own.
I belong to someone else.

A Poem for Maya Angelou (In Memoriam)
Little girl with braids akimbo We see the wisdom in your eyes That captures heart and hope and courage When even voice falters.
When words return They offer a singular understanding of individuality. Humanity.
Age and grace give you a place of honor and admiration deserved. Yet not the most important thing. For the light of a true voice remains well beyond faltering accolades.

March on Washington Snapshot
Tumblr media
The sale of the official button was one of the primary fundraising tools of the March on Washington coordinators.  The organizing manual prepared by Bayard Rustin and his staff directed those participating in the event to wear the 2 1/2 inch button as a means of identification.
Today the 1963 March on Washington buttons are considered prized artifiacts of the historic event.
