Heavy Mental (excerpts by Trace DePass)
Though, Colorblind is how some of them perceive my artistry, I wish the people of my pigment would just agree with me Because it seems like through a ball or a rhyme may be the only to live my life at ease. You see … it’s hard for those to genuinely speak who live leisurely …, & I don’t want to be known as enslaved on my grave. So, I found rhythm in my words & ceased the beat because only philosophy ever freed deceit. But, we can’t even leave its reach ’cause we need to eat. Yet, money costs labor in this economy & what we feel is indeed defeat. Because taxed & truthfully, money taken out of the bank will go back in, indubitably. Plus interest, since power corrupts, (absolutely,) we’ll superpower the land of liberty, monetarily. Even before Wall Street’s elite can even read “deplete”, either cash inflates, or due to debt we speed mistreat.
Truth hurt ever since the justice system was armed & justified by beliefs are crude commodities, napalms & a bomb laid on Saddam’s property. The greatest killers of mankind were probably Religion, politics, & poverty, & likely to be before heart attacks or HIV. But, it seems that If I’m not pushing these Industrial mass-producing pistons … I’ll end up taking bullets from a distance with no witness. Although, the AK’s may spray now & forever soothe me, If truth hurts, whoever neigh-says make way for the sound of Uzis.

"On the train from 5th ave, I realized you don’t have to see in the 4th dimension, Or open your 3rd eye to treat every second like your firstborn & have 'zero-tolerance' for negativity. Because in this train was a man in his home without a house, smiling from ear to ear, freed from tension. Having the same mannerisms as me, looking forward to any possible opportunity" - Trace Howard, Poet & Spoken Word Artist
