interesting takes for a lot of it that i do agree with. I would say a lot of the issues, like drooping ears and toe number, are just down to genetics and mutations.

no clue what's up with hojo and dede tho. may just be artistic license for them and shouldn't be taken into account for general genetics. I would say size has a lot to do with resources. you only find the big bastards and misses in areas that are either very well supplied or very safe. One more thing to note: the fact that there is only one elder known so far that is of normal height would hint that for the most part, the humanoid stature is a new mutation in only the last few generations or even cross breeding with humans that no one is admitting to XP for all intents and purposes though, the cross breeding theory is a bit of a stretch.

So, i might get in a lil trouble for it, but i took some illustrations from the complete works of monster hunter world to create a reference sheet for wyvernians.

figured i’d share it for those that wanna create their own wyvernians.

since i’m not profiting, i figure it’s okay.

i did notice something odd that i don’t know if it’s design fail or just a variation among the race, but the larger more human-like wyvernians have four toes, the small squishy squat ones have three toes. their foot wear also seems to vary quite a bit. Though it seems just as common for them to just opt to… not… wear shoes. at all. particularly among those that doesn’t really go out much like the ecologist and third fleet captain.

yeah... except god didn't make these. he made the base model sure, if you ascribe to religion. but humans took one look at horses went 'what if we made it into an OX' and that's how draft horses happened.

Relevant to Hildewilde too. :3 if you're gonna step up, get prepared to be slapped. Monster Hunter Humans are behemoths of muscle in their own right. also also, in game, the hunter models are usually a few inches taller than their handlers/peers in game, meaning there's more going on genetically as well.

i feel the need to remind people that i headcanon monster hunter humans (such as mari) to be much stronger and more durable / hardier than the average human. Not only can they survive far more hits, heal quicker, and withstand more intolerable conditions, but they can bear and lift a lot more weight as well as hit much harder.

i specifically think of that video clip of the lioness winning tug-of-war against three professional wrestlers working together. if someone with that strength can't beat a single lioness, then they wouldn't stand a chance against even the lower-tier monsters, such as tobi-kadachi and arzuros.

in monster hunter, you're 1-v-1 solo'ing behemoths such as rathalos, deviljho and even nergigante in singleplayer with a little anthro cat as your only assistant in most games. the fact that a hunter is able to lift and swing a greatsword as big as the ones ingame should be a testament to how near superhuman monster hunter humans are in strength. they are literal dragonslayers.

so, mari isn't a glass cannon. in her own universe she is equally matched (but still on the stronger side, by virtue of her training) with other riders and hunters, but when compared to the likes of regular humans, she and her people are exponentially tougher.
