Great post but i think the A let sasuke hit him because he was so sure that his Raiton Cloak going to save him not bcz sasuke was faster
I really enjoyed your analysis of the battle between Raikage and Sasuke, it was very detailed and comprehensive. However, I think the reason many people believe that Sasuke survived thanks to Gaara is because of this panel (with the text "will this be the end..." - I think they translated it from Weekly Shōnen Jump). What are your thoughts on it?
Tumblr media
To put this as bluntly as possible, you can't reason with people who choose to ignore all scans and stick to their head-canon just so they can keep tearing down a character. And yes, this is a masturbatory bullishness to keep going at a character in the face of overwhelming evidence. And yes, there's overwhelming evidence to support my claim and none for whatever it is that these people keep stating.
First of all, this statement ("will this be the end for Sasuke...and his hatred!?") doesn't mean anything as it's the most common tactic used by all the media (narrative-related) to create mystique.
Television shows do that all the time: they cut away at just the right moment and go into commercials; novels in the horror and suspense/mystery genre stop chapters at the right moment; authors like Charles Dickens wrote in the episodic format and created a milder version of it, as well; etc. Are these people new to media? Heck, which comic that falls anywhere near into the similar genre doesn't do this? I'm not sure how or why this even counts as some sort of "substantial evidence". Should we take all of these statements into consideration? If so, why? If not, who not? If only this is picked up, then it's cherry-picking to peddle an agenda.
Second, this statement is missing from the official release altogether:
(Scans after the cut.)
Tumblr media
It's not there. Another thing, the last and the most important argument, is the context. Going for this statement throws away context altogether. As I said: that statement means nothing. Sasuke, contrary to what the chuds and pick-mes would tell you, had the upper hand the whole time against Ae; so much so, that Ae had to sacrifice his entire arm just to give Sasuke a lip bleed as his Susanoo filtered 99% of his strength. He accomplished nothing.
Not to run ahead of myself, Ae couldn't even catch Sasuke through Raiton-enhanced footspeed, which, by the way, far outclasses Minato's foot-speed according to Chee:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yes, it turns out that Sasuke was duping both of them into thinking that they had the upper-hand; and Chee fell for it and got paralyzed. With Chee out of the picture, Raikage had to take Sasuke head on. And what does that result into? Nothing. Sasuke's much faster on food compared to Ae that he not only dodged Ae's first head-on assault but he also shoved a Chidori into his torso; so Ae failed whilst Sasuke didn't:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I shouldn't have to highlight the images, but I have to, albeit I dislike it. See what's happening here? Ae's only able to grab Sasuke because Sasuke's hand is literally stuck inside his torso. Kishimoto uses "WHAM" for the grab. If Ae had the upper-hand even in speed, why didn't he just grab Sasuke whilst he was running? Clearly, he couldn't. Does this come as a surprise to anyone when Bee told us this chapters ago?
Tumblr media
This is even more impressive, because Bee had been practicing the Double Lariat with Ae since he was 5 years old. Why do people keep forgetting this that, in spite of being heavily injured (a fact that's confirmed by 4 characters, Sasuke included), Sasuke was still moving faster than Bee consistently? Bee deflected his sword? So what? Sasuke was faster as he used Raiton on his body before Bee could stab a single sword into his body. What about the fact that Sasuke had his back to Bee when Hachibi shook off the Genjutsu, but when Bee attacked him, Sasuke's chest was blown to bits and not his back? Sasuke's so fast that, even whilst injured, he was able to turn around to tackle cloaked Bee who came at him from less than a foot away! The same character, Bee, who managed to out-speed Ae just fine in the war-arc. He did the same when he rescued and safeguarded KCM and BM Naruto over and over again. (You can check this post I made; someone uploaded this on another site, so it's a nice back-up.)
To move forward, we see more of this as the battle rages on. When Ae uses Liger Bomb, everyone's shocked and repeats the same statements that directly stated that no one's survived this attack:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First we have Darui. Then we've got Ae's own shock, together with statements from Darui and Chee:
Tumblr media
Apparently, Sasuke couldn't have survived that. Even Ae is shocked.
Tumblr media
Now, we're directly told that Liger Bomb's the only attack no one's ever survived, which makes it Ae's strongest attack. So this is the second attempt Ae failed. First, he failed to match Sasuke's speed, and second, he failed to inflict damage on him through his most powerful attack.
What does he do next? He immediately ups his speed by pouring a very large volume of chakra into the cloak, a speed he couldn't maintain for more than a few seconds:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sasuke's still faster, albeit Susanoo makes the user canonically slower (Kabuto states that outright during his battle with the Uchiha siblings); and Ae's caught off-guard and his strategy failed yet again. What does he do? He attacks Sasuke, anyway, knowing that his strategy failed; and after that, he tries the Guillotine Drop:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If the move was so successful, why do Darui and Cee look extremely apprehensive? How's Ae magically bypassing solid Enton spikes and Susanoo, which is shown to consistently cushion 99% of the damage; and all that through an attack that's canonically weaker than Liger Bomb? How?! At this point, it's just pitiful wanking as Ae's performance against Sasuke, a 16-year-old youth who's less than thrice his age, was abysmal, even though he had the backing of not not his own team (who created diversions and openings) but also of Gaara, who stepped into the fray at just the right moment to save Ae's life after repeated failures. How does Ae not posses a plot-armor (an accusation hurled at Sasuke, pretty much constantly) but Sasuke does? The very basis of this argument's fucking cheap!
To top it off, Chee reinforces the obvious conclusion that Sasuke survived both of Ae's attacks and penetrated his armor:
Tumblr media
All of the things Sasuke did, Kishimoto makes Chee, a Sensor and an observer, reiterate them: Sasuke overcame both attacks and got through the armor; and Ae failed at every single turn.
So my question is this: what's left to debate after these many scans that show the same things over and over again; that Sasuke was much faster; that he was much cleverer; that he had the ability to not only survive through Ae's attacks but also counter them with 100% success?
If anyone denies all of the evidence and goes for that empty statement, which isn't even present in the VIZ version, then that person is functionally illiterate, a wanker, and not worth anyone's time.
