Mantis smiled happily, appreciative that Margo accepted her gesture. She nodded lightly as she sighed. "Unfortunately, it's not forever," she said, looking away. She tilted her head in memory, trying to figure out the average time her abilities tend to last. "I think it depends on the individual," she admitted at first. "For most people, it lasts about fifteen minutes to half an hour. Others who are very strong mentally can immediately try to fight through the effects of my manipulation," she said with a shrug.

She looked away sadly. "My father was very flawed," she said in agreement. "He had his moments, but the more I have interacted with others, the more I believe those moments of kindness were simply other means of manipulation," she said, nodding, her eyes watering up at this fact. She nodded strongly, trying her best not to let herself cry over this fact. She smiled happily at the compliment. "Thank you!" she said, looking forward. "It's always nice to be considered....cool," she let out cooly.

Margo watched mantis as she was listening to her while still having this joyful feeling. " oh but you really could, I mean the way I feel now is just amazing. with your powers I believe you could bring alot of joy to the people who needed it most." She in a light voice as she turns fully to her." How long does this feeling last? Is there a time limit to how you evoke different emotions? and I guess you're right about being happy all the time could be too much but, its so nice to experience this happy emotion."

" Im almost curious to ask about having another emotion thing that you could do. and no offense but your father sounded like a jerk. With a name like ego he couldn't possibly be a good person. I think you totally deserve better and I just think you are so cool mantis." Margo said in a excited rush with no filter on how she truly felt but doing so with a warm smile and a light hearted feeling in her chest.

She chuckled at the thought of a planet full of boring people. "Boring people," she repeated. "How were they boring, compared to beings on other planets?" she decided to ask.

"Doctor is my title, degree, name, all of the above," he told her, "And as for getting a degree in time, well that's rather complicated and was really only a thing on Gallifrey."

Mantis nodded with a slight awe as she understood Margo's explanation and usage of ego now. "My father was both self-centered and extremely confident," Mantis replied. "I suppose many Celestials do exhibit those traits," she decided. Perhaps her father was the reason why people use ego the way they do on Earth?

She watched Margo bask in her emotions with a satisfied smirk. "I sometimes wish I could bring happiness to the world, but as my father said, too much of a good thing loses its value," she said with a slight nod. "I have yet to experience this expression in action, but I assume that is true," she added.

" Well let's just say that there's not alot of men on earth named ego. And as for the meaning of the word, its often not something to describe as a favorite trait people have. You know that it means that some people think so highly of themselves or being over confident." Margo explains to mantis seeing as she didn't quite understand her worlds way of saying things. It was calming in a way that she felt like she could be comfortable around mantis even if she was from other planet.

" yeah sure." Margo offers her hand as she lays her hand gently on hers. When she utters those words and margo sees her antennae glow bright she felt a slight warm sensation and she suddenly had a happy feeling. Her face broke out in a joyful smile as if nothing in the world would would upset her. " oh wow..this is amazing." She chuckles a bit as she gave mantis a warm smile. " i haven't felt this happy since I was a kid. It's like sunshine and rainbows. I just have to say that you are incredible mantis, I truly mean that."

Still looking for a good comic to get some "comic" base Icons for Mant. However, I got this anal issue that I want it to be in the same art stye/artist. :/ Also, might make some time to explore Mantis' aesthetic.

Mantis flashed a smile. "Yes, I suppose since my father was very old, ancient, he was one of the first to go by that name," she stated. "Though I do not know if that name is still popular," she paused, not realizing that Margo was thinking of the meaning of the word ego, not so much as it was a name to go by.

She smiled brightly as Margo wanted her to demonstrate her abilities. "Of course!" Mantis let out. "May I?" she asked as she started to lean over. Mantis placed her hand on top of Margo's hand, gently. "You are extremely happy," she voiced. Her antaenae glowed softly as she demonstrated her ability as she quickly let go to let Margo to bask in her emotions.

Margo was in awe of her childlike wonder, it was interesting since she was basically considered an alien and most people of earth would be scared of her but she had such a calm presence about her that it was honestly easy to talk to her. Also when she said that Peter quill and her were related she did a double take on that information. " I never would've guessed that, that's incredible." She replied truly interested.

margo could tell her demeanor changed at the mention of where she was from. Hearing her explanation was alot to take in. It was truly fantastic really but she did feel bad seeing as she was sad about her own situation. " wow..wait you had a father named ego?" Margo asked, of all the things to take away from hearing someone with a name like that gave her pause. And here she thought some guys on earth had a massive ego complex.

Listening to what else she was capable of doing was something she should've been wry about. In truth she wasn't human and can do a things that she just now realized that are possible. Yet she wasn't scared of her in fact she was more curious and wanted to see how her abilities work. Hopefully the reporter didn't regret what she was about to ask. " I would like for you to show me."

Mantsi looked to the side, a bit confused. She was silent, thinking about what he said. She did not know many individuals like this. Those who only went by name or a title. In fact, many of the ones she knew weren't good people. She slowly started to back away. "That sounds...overwhelming," she admitted at first. She swallowed nervously. "Why is it only a thing in Gallifrey?" she decided to ask.

Mantis flashed a sincere smile. Though not one of happiness, one of concern and sadness as she let out a breathy sigh, tilting her head in understanding. "Oh," she breathed out at first, to give herself time to process the situation.

"I will admit I do not have a complete understanding of how romantic relationships work or go through," she started at first. "But I do know they can cause a variety of emotions, including great pain," she said with a quick shrug. "Do you want to talk about it?" she asked, hoping maybe that would make him feel better.

"Hey Mantis, MJ and I didn't work out. We broke up. It's tough, but I'm trying to stay positive.But it seems to me I am not doing so well as you are able to read my body language from a mile away ."

She was in the mood for cool, sweet drinks when she noticed Peter Parker passing by. His head down, shoulder slumped, defeated-looking, as she paused to watch him pass with concern and curiosity. She was tempted to let him be, but at the same time, she did not want to be a bad teammate if she knew she could do something. "Hi..." she paused with a half-raised hand before she decided to turn and follow suit. "Hello, Peter Parker, why are you looking so sullen?"

Mantis gave a big nod and smiled. Most people she knew liked their home planets, and if they didn't, they tended to leave as soon as possible. She let out a big 'oh' like breath as she was excited to answer this question. "Peter Quill is my brother!" she answered happily. "We share the same father," she clarified with a nod. She blinked before trying to answer her next question.

"Oh, I'm from...well...." She passed, looking away for a moment, becoming a bit bashful. "I do not know exactly where I am from," she admitted.

"I was told by my father...Ego that I was found as a larva," she paused with a half-shrug. "I do not know how much of that is true, however," she paused with a heavy sigh. Letting out the sadness that came with that previous question, exhale away.

"As for my power, well, I suppose I can do various things other Terans cannot," she paused. "I can jump very high, grip walls, and I can also handle much more alcoholic beverages than the average person," she added with a giggle, remembering the time she and Drax got wasted in their search for Kevin Bacon. "I am also a skilled empath," she informed, staring into her eyes to see Margo's reaction. "I can also alter emotions with touch," she added, tempted to show her but remembering some people do not like to be touched, like Gamora.

Margo nods her head at the question, wanting to continue being polite as well as being an awe that her being from another planet would ask her such things. " um yes I do. It's not perfect but it's home. I do like it here too." She answered honestly. Margo has seen and heard about the avengers but she had no idea about most of the team. For example she just found out about the guardians of the galaxy and apparently a man named Peter quill was from here but was taken to out of space and joined this new form team? It was all a bit overwhelming yet exciting at once.

" if you don't mind me asking, what sort of power you possess and where are you originally from?" And this Peter quill guy is he someone important to you?"

Independent portrayal of CLINTON FRANCIS BARTON or "HAWKEYE" from MARVEL COMICS with heavy inspiration from FRACTION'S RUN. Written by Alex ( he / him ) 18+ only ( dark/mature themes may be present )

This portrayal of Clint is heavily inspired by Fraction's solo run on Hawkeye where Clint takes a backseat to Avengering to being a more street level hero. I use this to explore his disability and his depression, more character driven plots rather than focusing on the cape and hero shit that comes with the broader Marvel Universe. I'm more interested in writing Clint the person than Clint the hero, he's living a regular life beyond saving the people on his street.

The above being said, I have read most of Clint's appearances in other comics, and I'm not opposed to writing Avenger Clint, it's just not the focus of this blog.

Activity will come and go as I am a busy person IRL, but I'll try to keep steady contact with my writing partners.

Clint's disability will not be erased here, hearing aides will almost always be in his ears because he is deaf. Without them, he reads lips and I will delve into Clint's frustrations of being in the superhero community where most people wear masks.

I can and will tread into darker themes, Marvel is filled with them, and while Clint is a snarky and fun man, he has darker elements to his character. His backstory will mention abuse, both physical and verbal. If this is ever brought up I'll make sure to tag warnings appropriately.

This blog will also feature sexual themes, Clint has a healthy sex life and smut may appear. In regards to shipping, I love writing romance, and Clint is a guy with a big heart, I'd love to pair him off with a multitude of other muses so if your muse is interested in kissing this cornfed midwestern born man, go for it!

I will write with MCU inspired muses. Consider my Clint to be an alternate universe version of that Clint, as I have zero interest in writing the Renner portrayal.

I do not partake in cancel culture on Tumblr, if someone if being a weirdo then block them. The only time I'll ever care if someone is being dangerous. This also goes with writing, I do not care what people write when it comes to fiction.

Mantis gave a half-shrug. She was quietly thinking about the question before she lightly nodded. "I suppose it is as good as any other planet," she said at first. She didn't want to voice a preference just yet. She had only come to visit Earth in brief moments. Though she suddenly smiled. "However, Peter Quill is from this planet, and so are many Avengers...so I suppose I do like it here a bit more than other planets," she decided with a soft smile.

"Do you like it here?" she asked to be conventional.
