So I’ve been thinking about the brother dilemma in Doomstar requiem a lot lately,

And at first I thought it was really strange that they were refusing to call Toki their brother because they had explicitly called him their brother in the past, most memorable being in Dethdad, when Toki was leaving for Norway and Charles wanted the rest of the guys to work on the record and Skwisgar says ‘how ams we supposed to record when our brother suffers so badlys’. And it got me thinking,

What if the reason they suddenly couldn’t call Toki their brother was because of self-preservation? They couldn’t live with themselves having not been able to save Toki, and rather than grappling with that guilt they just told themselves he wasn’t their brother anyway. It was easier for them to just be in denial. As well as partying to forget.

Maybe this was supposed to be obvious and im just a little slow to the point but I thought it was an interesting underlying tone.
