THE UNIVERSE MUST be broken, glitching or something ? for the first time since he’d learnt how to form sounds with his mouth, xavian had nothing to say. no snarky comment, no ego stroking, nothing. his eyes just continued to scan over the message on his phone screen. the phrase ‘final warning’ swirling around his mind. maybe he should sort his act out and stop pissing his band off ? but he hadn’t done anything to piss them off! they were just mad  that despite being hidden behind a drum kit for all the concerts and music videos, the fans still thought he was the fit one. it was obvious! jealousy at it’s finest. “ hey, i’ve missed place my lighter. you got one ? “

xavian smiled, tucking his hair behind his ear and taking in each and every word the other boy said. it was nice to be admired and have other people reciprocate the thoughts he also felt. “exactly ! it’s nice to be adored.” humble ? that was a word xai heard a lot but never understood the meaning. why would anyone want to be humble ? he knew his truth, he knew his beauty and had probably knew his self-worth a bit too well. “why should i lower my own importance to make other people happy ? all they need to do is raise their own self worth and live on my level. as much as everyone looks down on me for ego, my brain is a wonderful place to be.”

geez, louise. “how many times are you going to swipe on the poor girls on tinder, xavi?” her eyes wandered the photos of the many women that her best friend had swiped left on as he finally stopped on someone promising to him. “ooh, i like her.” she replied with a small laugh, mainly because it was her with her sunglasses on. “is it possible to be both?”

glancing over at his best friend for a second, he smirked, “hey, there’s guys on here too ! sure, they might not be as common but i don’t discriminate !” to a lot of people, having someone’s eyes watching and judging their tinder swipes would likely feel like a bit of a personal invasion but when did xai every react to anything like a normal person ? plus, he trusted emmy enough to know she would judge him openly. “thought you might.” he laughed, swiping right on his friend’s face since one, she was his incredibly close friend and two, she was gorgeous. “you mean like me ? “ he winked teasingly, “so, do you think i stand a chance ?”

was xai the only sane person around here ? too much talk of commitment for a bunch of young, famous bachelors and bachelorettes for his liking ! “fuck and chuck is the way to go mate, give ‘em the ride and then send them on their way never to be seen again ! it’s honestly genius.” his attention was still firmly on the screen before him, his finger going in whatever direction he deemed best for the person in question. “your last girlfriend is a clever girl but is clearly lacking skills if you worked it out. and you need to start taking advantage of your lifestyle. as rockstars, we’re the holy grail !”

taking a couple of seconds to carefully study xai and his expressions, unsure if he truly believe what he said. a healthy dose of ego was great for everyone but it seemed to have surpassed that. “with that puppy face of yours? i’m sure you get all the swipes” to which side he didn’t elaborate on, choosing to be vague. temped to take the phone away from the guy and uninstall a couple of apps until he grew some humility. “oh i’m in the presence of a rockstar? a famous rockstar? be still my heart,” Nic drawled, teasing.

“see, i knew you’d get it ! i mean, being not so bad looking yourself, i’m sure you experience a similar thing... not as much as myself but not far off.” his eyes quickly scanned the other’s frame, mentally rating every aspect as he did. “you see, i’m like a magnet of sexual attraction. doesn’t matter what gender or sexuality someone is, they want to try a bit of me and who am i to deny them that luxury ?” there was a vibe in the air that xai couldn’t quite work out. the teasing ? the compliments ? what did they all mean ? one thing’s for sure, nicolás had his attention for the moment. “i’d have thought with your history you’d be used to such a thing but i suppose it’s different when that rockstar’s me.”

“you don’t know until you try. it’s not failed me yet.” xai joked, admiring the quick reply in a situation where he’d usually be scolded. “i’m not you, i can’t answer that question. what i do know is that you’re in for a hell of a ride with me. i might not be a favourite but at least i’m fun.”

eyebrow raised as he took in everything the girl had to say. while he wasn’t great with people and ‘respect’, he did always have at least one thing he enjoyed about someone he knew. for lennox, one of those was her fire. even when he was being the worst, she’d always have some fight. "ooo, someone’s feisty ! babes, i won’t deny that you probably get much more attention than me but unlike you, i’d never hide away from the adoration. i’m not selfish.” shooting a wink her way, he continued. “and i’m still making my way up baby, one day you might be forgotten while i’m the biggest name around... stranger things have happened.”

“OH WELL, I mean that, too,” she replied, matching his teasing tone. she fixed herself in the background as she watched him check over his own reflection. she knew he was bound to take a few minutes to make sure he looked just right so, she took it as her own time to make sure she looked good. her makeup was done, her signature red lipstick painted her lips, she had her favorite pair of hoops in and her heels matched her outfit perfectly. she truly looked amazing. she watched as he simply unbuttoned an extra two buttons before letting out a laugh. “oh thank god because i was thinking the same exact thing!” she exclaimed, grabbing her bag before making her way out the door, leaving it open for him.

flashing a wink in the direction of probably the tenth girl they’d past as the entered the first club of the night, xai turned his attention back mia. as highly as he thought about her, his mind was thinking some totally disrespectful things right now and going places a best friend’s mind just should not go. if this was anyone else, he’d have just said them out loud but he wasn’t about to ruin one of the few good things he had going for himself. “you looking to pull tonight or just get wasted and having a good time ?” he asked, placing his arm around her. “because if you are then i’ll be an excellent wingman but if you aren’t then i can’t promise that i won’t pull anyone but if you don’t want me to then i’ll try my best.”

If Johnny rolled his eyes any farther they’d be in the back of his head by now. He wasn’t sure why he still hung out with Xavian though, once upon a time he tried out for his band and they didn’t click. “Nobodies? You mean normal people?” He shook his head. “No you don’t, I doubt anyone would stay around for that long.” “I’d give anything to be in a relationship where the other person isn’t trying to gain anything from it.”

as far as xai was concerned, johnny may as well have been speaking a foreign language. normal people ? commitment ? not using people ? that would never be him. “if they’re not famous then they’re of no use to me other than a quick fuck and chuck.” this was all so obvious to him that it always blew his mind whenever anyone questioned him about it. “well aren’t you precious ! get into the real world mate, everyone’s using each other for something. and i’m just saying but i’ve got a long line of people praying for me to commit to them so if you don’t then maybe you’re the issue ?”

Nicolás took a deep sharp breath, holding it in for as long as he could before breathing out. staying at home had begun to sound a lot better compared to what seemed to be happening around him. pressing a hand against his face, rubbing against it as he felt his eyes almost roll back into his head. “shouldn’t you be more worried about them even swiping for you?”

silent for a moment, his brain unable to compute the words that had been said, xai turned the phone back to himself and promptly swiped left once again. “was that- was that a joke ? of course it was, i don’t know why i even asked,” he laughed, though based entirely on the other’s body language picking up that maybe this wasn’t a joke ? “with a face like mine you really don’t need to worry about anyone not swiping right. and i’m famous which is another tick in the box. and i’m a rockstar ! like doesn’t get any better for them than that.”

Johnny looked up from his guitar to see Xavian shoving his phone in his face. He rolled his eyes at him and leaned over for a closer look at who’s selfie illuminated the screen. “She’s cute, what kind of girl are you looking for anyway? Someone to hook up with or date?” 

furrowing his brows, xai scanned johnny’s face for any evidence of sarcasm. negative. swiftly turning the phone back towards himself, he took a second look at the girl in question. “no, no, no, let’s get one thing straight. i don’t date. especially not nobodies like what are they going to get me? i’ll tell you, a solid fuck all!” swiping left, he scoffed still unable to fathom the question he’d just been asked. “do i look like the type to settle down? perfection like this needs to be experienced by many, not tied down.”

left. left. left. “you’d think somewhere as prolific as hollywood would be filled with promise but if these are anything to go by... yikes!” his finger continued to swipe left on almost every face that appeared, the occasional one being deemed ‘good enough’ for a swipe right but those were few and far between. “hold the phone...” his finger paused, taken back by the face on his screen. “hey, opinion? is she cute or a total dog?”

HONESTLY, MIA WAS used to listening to xavian turning girls down after a one night stand. she understood why most obsessed over him. he was attractive, he might’ve been her best friend, but she had two eyes and knew how to use them pretty well. she stayed looking at him as he looked her over and there was no stopping the slightly blush from his version of a compliment. “god, see this is why i love hanging out with you. we always end up hitting all the good spots instead of just going to one,” she replied with a tiny grin. “you ready to get this show on the road?”

“so it’s not my winning personality that keeps you around?” he teased, feigning offense as he rose from the girl’s bed to check out his favourite thing, himself. for many, his look would be way too over the top but something was niggling at the back of his mind. done up to the nines with his faux fur coat, more accessories than necessary and his favourite boots but there was still something not quite right. “give me a second.” twirling a loose strand of hair around his finger, xai hummed. that’s it! unbuttoning two more buttons on his already barely done up shirt, a smirk crawled it’s way across his lips. “perfect. let’s go! i’m thinking shots.”
