The one that got away- Winter Soldier

Might make this into a series, if people like this fanfic plot! Let me know in the comments or in my asks!
Pairing: Winter Soldier x Fem! Reader
Summary: Average day at work for you, but when your boss asked you to stay for overtime, you happily agreed. Not knowing what horror you would see and get away from by the end of the night.
W/C 1.5k
Warnings!! Mention of blood, death. Vomit (slightly) and Guns (I can't describe gore, but I'm just putting these warnings!! so uhhh..Be warned!!)
Every day was the same, but you didn't seem to mind. Occasionally, you would hang out with your loved ones when you had the day off. Even with superheroes somehow coming out of nowhere, you didn't really pay attention to it. Sure, they would be on the news occasionally, but your city was safe.
You thought your life was normal; you know you hit mostly every milestone in life at this point. Sure, your boring little office job wasn't fun, but it did pay the bills.
And a bit of money on the side, you were saving up to maybe. (Even in this economy) be able to afford a house in your state. This would be a good day, you told yourself.
As in every other day, carefully picking out what outfit you would wear to work. You liked being a little bit fashionable, even if it was just a boring old corporate job. Eating breakfast in the quiet of your apartment. Your apartment is decorated in all your little interests you took pride in how you set up the furniture and decorations.
You really started to feel like an adult now, even if you've been one for years. Shaking the thought, you quickly packed your bag. Any paperwork you needed today, and basic hygiene products. Just in case the AC wasn't working in the building. And you packed your lunch with leftover food from the day before.
You decided to take the train to work today, and you had the time to do so as you woke up a bit earlier than usual. Just get through the work day, you said to yourself. As you began to walk towards the building.
It wasn't a tall building, not even in the least. You worked for a small company. Clocking in, you sat at your desk just like your apartment, it was decorated in your favorite interest. As you began organizing your desk for today, you suddenly felt this wave of uncertainty. Something felt...off.
Looking at your surroundings, it looked normal; maybe your brain was playing a trick on you. Yeah, that's it. You shrugged it off, "Maybe I'm just tired, I did wake up early..." You mumbled to yourself as you turned on the computer, ready to start your upcoming assignments for the day.
It was a quieter day than the norm; your work today wasn't hard. You would always be on track, far better than your coworkers. Though in some cases you would slack off with them, but you quickly stopped when the boss would catch the team. You laughed at that moment, which happened a week ago. It was almost time to go back, smiling to yourself. Already thinking of what to do when you get home. Maybe just knock out, or do something more productive.
But sometimes you weren't so lucky, as your boss handed you an overdue assignment. Telling you to get it done by the end of the night, you really didn't want to till he mentioned overtime pay. Which, money is money. And you could use it for further things that you wanted.
It was..too time-consuming, by the time you were done, your coworkers had left, you were the only one on this office floor. You squinted at the bright light coming from your computer as you fixed the last thing you needed to do. Before you hit send. Yawning, you started packing up your things. "I'm never doing overtime again, I just want to go to bed!" You groaned to yourself.
Phone in hand, as you walked down the hallway to go to your boss's office. Just wanted to make sure he did actually receive the document. You didn't knock; you thought there was no point. He probably wasn't even here. The door was a bit jammed but you mentioned to get in.
"Hey, Boss...? I finished the document. I just came in to see if you had gott-"
Your phone slipped out of your hand as you looked all around the office in pure horror. You didn't even know how to react; your eyes just focused on one thing.
Your boss's body, all mangled in the middle. Hell no, you were probably just delusional, right? You hadn't gotten good sleep the previous night.
That had to be it, RIGHT?
You wouldn't dare touch it. What if that body was real? Hell no.
"I'm going to be sick.." You said as you grabbed your phone, already calling the authorities. You gave a brief description of what you're seeing. But you just couldn't, you needed to get out of this building. The atmosphere was suffocating.
You quickly made your way down the elevator, still shaking. That image BURNED into your mind. The elevator dinged as you stepped out, tightly holding your bag as you did.
What the fuck.
Your head shot up as you were looking down at the floor. Pools of blood were scattered on the first floor; anyone who had stayed beyond hours was killed. And unknown to you, someone was staring right at you.
The person who caused this mess, you were the last one. The orders were simple.
No witnesses.
You must have slipped through the cracks, you were quiet in that office after all. You forced down the vomit that was coming up; you needed to get out of here.
You turned. How many people have mysteriously been murdered? And how many people did you recognize? You could feel yourself starting to have a panic attack. And then you see something in the corner.
A man, a man with what is that, a silver sleeve? Wait, no, he's covered in blood. He has a mask, and you could barely make out his eyes. And then you hear a click.
The sound of a gun loading.
You. Needed. To. Run. NOW!
By some miracle, the damn bullet missed you by mere inches as you threw the bag at the man. You missed, but it distracted the man long enough to focus on it instead.
You ran out of the building, like never before. No cops had shown up yet. What if they thought it was a prank call? No, you can't think about anything else right now. Just focus on running and losing that guy in the building.
You'll end up with the same fate as the others; you didn't want to die. You don't know how long you ran for, but you thought you were safe.
You took so many twists and turns, and you hadn't seen another person in the street. You were in the back of an alley, behind a different office building. Trying to catch your breath.
You were sure that you had lost the man, but would the authorities believe you? You couldn't even form a coherent explanation for what just happened back at your office.
And then you see it, a gleam of metal, coming out of the shadows. Your heart drops to your knees. Is this your fate? To die in the back of an alley to whoever this man is?
The man stands there, gun in hand. He looked like he hadn't even broken a sweat compared to you. You make eye contact with the man, as you feel yourself starting to tear up. You weren't supposed to die this way.
As he walked towards you, you began to shake as your mouth opened without thinking.
"Please-" You choke out a cry, "I didn't see anything promise! I won't tell anyone! You clean up over there and I'll pretend none of it happened, yeah?" You stuttered your words as tears continued to come out of your eyes. You were scared, you didn't want to die.
The man moves closer, and you start to back up against the wall. You were begging for your life, body shaking. Tear marks covering your face.
He keeps looking at her, no words. Like if he were a mindless body. The barrel of his gun lowers, no longer aiming at you. What is he thinking? You thought to yourself, is he playing games with you?
With the mask still on, you could barely make out a voice. His voice, but in a language you don't understand. The word is muffled, as you raised a brow, finally not stuttering.
"What?" You breathed out, confused.
The man's eyes flicker a shadow of something unreadable passing through them. He either thought you were pathetic or he was taking pity on you. He spoke again now in a rough, heavy English as if he had spoken it in a long time.
"Leave, go away."
Your eyes widened. He was giving you mercy, which you couldn't believe. After all, including your boss and the fleeting moment you looked at the bodies. Five people were killed, and you were the one who was spared. Still shaking, you nodded as you quickly scooted over and made a run for it again. This time, you knew well you hoped he wouldn't shoot you in the back of the head.
He didn't.
You looked back at where the man was. Nothing but a blur, you just saw the motion of him leaving. It was a miracle.
a/n I hope you like this!! It may not make sense much, considering English isn't my first language, but I tried! I just got the motivation and spent the whole day writing! Hope you enjoy!

Alive to me - Bucky Barnes

First fic on here,..I'm a little rusty, given that I haven't written in months. English is not my first language...sorry!!
Pairing: 40s! Bucky Barnes x Fem! Reader
Summary: Bucky gives you a locket to remember him by before he's off to war. Making a promise with him, years later, after he's presumed dead. You grieve the loss of your boyfriend, holding the locket close.
You knew the risks of dating a soldier, given the ongoing war. Your boyfriend, Bucky, was due for deployment the next morning. And you hated the thought of being away from your beloved. He was a sweetheart, and you couldn't bear the fact that he might not come back home. But you pushed it aside.
Holding your hands gently, as if he put too much pressure, they would surely break. Those darling blue eyes, god. You loved looking at them; you'd turn into mush whenever you two maintained eye contact. You giggled, but you both knew it would be some time before you could be together again.
The thought of being alone, without him, ruined your mood. His being in harm's way ruined your mood. Frowning slightly as you tighten your hands against his. And of course, Bucky would notice your souring mood.
"Hey..don't worry about me." He tried to sound reassuring, "I'll be back before you know it." Smirking a bit before going back to that teasing tone, trying to lighten up the atmosphere. "You'll see! I'll come walkin' through that door, same as always, sweetheart."
You chuckled, "You really mean it, don't ya' Buck?"
"Damn right." He smirked as he placed a gentle kiss on her temple, "When I come back, I want the first smile I see to be yours." In this moment, it was just you and him. Even a little more, it was you two. Two lovebirds.
You see Bucky start to fidget with his pocket, his playful demeanor faltering for just a moment. Taking something out of it, you couldn't really make it what it was that he had taken out. But a chain was curling in his palm.
"I don't want you to forget me, doll..you know that, right? For however long I'm away. I don't want you to forget about me." He opened your hands as you raised a brow, confused about what he was planning to do. He placed it in your hands, closing his fingers over it. It was a bit heavy, and it was cold in your palms.
You looked down at your hands, and it was a small golden yellow heart locket. Instantly, your head shot up to look at your boyfriend, who had that crooked smile that you adored.
"Bucky- I can't- how much did this-" You were cut off by him. "Don't worry about it." As you were about to protest, he placed a finger on your lips. "I said, don't worry about it, okay, sweetheart?" You nodded, feeling more reassured.
"Like I said, I don't want you to forget about me. And I ain't good with my words and you know that."
He tapped on the locket. "So whenever you miss me, just open it and I'll be right there with ya. Not as good as the real thing, but it's somethin', huh?"
You chuckled as you put the locket in your pocket and embraced him. "I'm going to miss the real thing so much." You said with a hint of sadness. He pulled you in more towards him.
"Promise me you'll keep it close?"
"Always."
It had been four years since that night, when you talked about nothing and everything before he left. The news hit you like a brick. Killed in action, that was two years ago. And his old pal also went missing. He seemed like a good guy, even if you didn't see much of him.
Everything seemed so dull without your beloved, and people would say. "He was just your boyfriend, not your husband. Why are you still sulking around?" It made you mad when people talked.
You would lie in your bed alone, looking up at the ceiling. Locket clutched in your hands, you never took it off. Your heart couldn't bear to part with it, not even for a second.
You opened the locket, and the picture of him was a little worn out now. There he was, his darling smile and those eyes you would get lost in.
Smiling, you began to speak, "You wouldn't believe how cold it got today, Buck. The kind of cold that makes you miss warm hands. Your hands." You turned to your side, holding the locket, never breaking eye contact with the picture.
But your smile quickly started to falter, "Not a day goes by that I don't miss you, Buck." Holding the locket up to your chest. As if you were hugging him like all those years ago.
"You were right, this is not as good as the real thing."
