Most people think being bi means that you like girls and boys both equally, both romantically and sexually. But that’s not the case for everyone.
There are bi people who lean way more to one side than the other. There are bi people who experience sexual attraction to some genders and romantic attraction to others. There are bi people whose sexuality fluctuates. There are bi people who become fixated on one gender depending on their love interest. There are demisexual bisexuals, there are ace and aro bisexuals.
Not all bi people experience the same kind of attraction to each gender equally. We’re still valid and we’re still bi.

Straight people don’t seem to understand this but literally nothing on earth could ever make a lesbian couple “heteronormative” in any way. It doesn’t matter if it’s a butch/femme couple and the butch works as a mechanic while the femme is a stay at home mom who cooks and cleans. A relationship between two girls can never—in any way, shape or form—be heteronormative because it’s not “hetero” at all. It’s literally a relationship between two girls… It will always defy heteronormativity.

if you’ve never been to pride before, this pride season i want to encourage you to give it a chance if you can and not be deterred by whatever scary things you may have heard on the internet. for example, i’m bi and i’ve been to dozens of prides, in big cities and small towns, and have never once had anyone demand to know my identity or suggest that i shouldn’t be there. god knows pride celebrations have their share of problems, but being out in public surrounded by other lgbt people having fun and being themselves is an incredible thing that you deserve to experience for yourself before you decide it’s too good to be true.
