KPop Demon Hunters Drabble

"I'll reincarnate when you do."

Rumi stared at the glowing soft blue cat staring at her from the foot of her bed. They had been having an argument and the angry words she had been preparing died on her tongue.

"What do you mean?" she asked quietly.

"I mean that when you die, I'll leave with you. With luck we will be born nearby and be able to meet in our next lives." The cat padded forward and turned into mist, reforming into a young man with sad eyes and short hair. He reached for Rumi's hand, ghosting through with a cool touch. "Maybe if we do it that way we will stand a better chance."

"Jinu..."

He looked up and met her eyes. "Until that day I will protect you the only way I know how."

And then he disappeared, the soft glow leaving with him, as he rejoined Rumi's sword.

"I don't want you as a protector," Rumi whispered, a croak caught in her throat. She took a deep breath and lay down. She just wanted him to be happy.

I know I've said it before but I'm saying it again, I just absolutely adore how Danny's eyes glow green in human form when he's getting particularly mischievous, not just when he's especially angry

Like this boy has a built in warning signal for when he's about to be a little menace to society and I love that for him

I'm sure people are aware of this, but on the off chance anyone missed it:

the outro makes me so ill because it stays the same throughout the show but our perception of it changes so much. We see Duck dozing on her pond, and at the end, she wakes up to gaze up at someone--whose face we don't see--wearing the boys' uniform. First time watchers most likely assume she's looking up at Mytho, but of course as the show goes on you realize it's Fakir.

She does the same little dip in the water in the final shot of the show. With this new context, I always imagined the outro is set some time post canon. Maybe Fakir is coming by to visit Duck after school. It just makes me ill to think that their friendship is so strong that even before they even liked each other, the show always ended showing off their bond.
