This take!! Gale is still a silly, misguided, traumatized, boy-brained guy at the end of the day. Yes, he had vengeful, angry ideas, but he shouldn’t have been in a place of power to have those ideas realized. I’m all for goofs and jokes, but it’s so important to remember that Gale is not the real enemy. Viewing Gale as an actual enemy/antagonist neglects not only the trauma he endured at a very young age, but also Coin’s true ruthless nature.

Can we talk about how Gale having that conversation with Peeta about who Katniss will choose is a sign that, in a way, Gale has retained some innocence or naïveté that Peeta and Katniss had long lost by then. That’s the only thing that makes any sense to me, because Katniss and Peeta’s minds were in completely different galaxies and Gale was still thinking silly teen boy thoughts.
