Making my leaf bowl to put my condiments, such as dipping sauces in it. This bowl is a structure in a bowl-shaped way in holding watery substance throughout using it. I have used clay in the middle and leaves throughout the outer part of the bowl. The reason why I used the leaves is that it filters out more of the liquid. It prevents it from slipping into small cracks and crevasses within the clay. I also used glad wrap and pressed it with a bowl to make a bowl-like shape, along with the use of glad wrap to prevent it from slipping. I used dishwashing liquid as an alternative however that did not work, therefore I reverted back to glad wrap making it easier to peel off.
Once I have achieved this I added another layer underneath and waited for the clay to dry up, therefore, sticking into the clay as one. With this, I made an eco-friendly bowl at my food event. To add to this are the other food, that I made to show and simulate how deep and what will it look like within the bowl.

Using the grass that I have picked before I used it as an imprint for my abstract, making. Just a little brainstorm that I have done to explore the possibilities of how I will make my plate throughout my events as this will be used to put dipping sauces throughout my dish. I also made a digital version to simulate what it will look like as it is wrapped around the bowl. This will be shared amongst people like that what they do back at home. One rule of sharing sauce is that there are no double-dipping, as a sign of being considerate for others.

Going through the park and picking up leaves and other greenery material throughout this park. Picked up random leaves within this field, will enable me to use these leaves and make an imprint designing an idea of how my utensil is going to look like. It is a brainstorm as I walk around this park, thinking about how my plate would be made. Will I weave it, glue it or mould it, making me think of how I can make a disposable plate. Something to make it more disposable and safe for the environment, While at this I made minor adjustments throughout my Jam board reformatting things and adding more detail throughout my board. In showing more things in detail with the images provided, going furthermore into its process. Furthermore, it redefines my images more and goes into depth within the feedbacks that I have gotten throughout the process

Feed back from what I got from my peers and guest shares their idea within my jam board, in tweaking minor things and the materials that I have included, starting from. Just minor adjustments throughout my jam board, such as grammar, font sizes and a bit more detailed information about my board. Sue J gave me a more detail critique about my work, telling me how hard it is to come with this designs using sensory from food that I have done throughout the process, she had me looked more into the Kate Macleans. In using sensory throughout my designs, being able to use food to bring myself back to a nostalgic time is key to this project to portray how the atmosphere with the use of food. It is a sense of trigger for a memory.

Final product of the table serving all the food within the tables. These materials are going to be made from marble and limestones giving that texture throughout the table and the seats. There are a lot of things that are going throughout this design but the most important aspect that people see is arrangement of this table, arranging it into a star. It is very accessible. Another aspect that I have forgot to add are the condiments that will go throughout the table showing the plates and the sauces to eat this food with. To add to this is how eco friendly it is with all these greenery and disposable food that will go throughout the table.

One thing that I had done is tweak my jam board and fixed it up before the critique. As before my guess critique we were sent in to groups, my group was with Racheal. With this group, people recommended me to reformat and reword some sentence, nothing that is major throughout the jam boards. With this my jam board looks more cleaner and nice, making my work breath as much throughout the process.

Orthographic drawing within my design and how my table is going to look. These are the two different types of table that will go throughout the area. It will be a huge table that will take an amount of space. To add to this are the food that are spread within the middle of the table. A not so complex table it is very simple to work with and easy to navigate around.

I have compiled all the drawn images throughout that I have done digitally by using photoshop. Combining all the banana leaves underneath and not needing a plate, it show the food that are going within it. One thing that I am missing are the condiments and the sauce that is going within the food.

Concept tables that I have created to show how my table is formed, using these. I got the table concept from the Philippine star that is seen in our flag. I turned this into a table. My main family will be sitting in the middle with my friends and other people sitting outside. This focuses more on the more people that I am close with in the middle to the least people that I am close with throughout the sides. Aside from this it is a great format for people to converse with a big round table.

Another part of an abstract art that I have done and created is a dish named Bilo Bilo, this dish are balls with rice balls. It is a sweet dish, I created abstract art showing how this dish will be plated in a flat dish. With this I also created an invitation for people to join my food event.

Food that is going to be served at each table. These are traditional street foods that are served at every corner of the street back home. Most of these are ball-shaped pieces that range from chicken and fish paste. They are simple food to prepare and are often precooked. Thus vendors do nothing but reheat in a grill.

I have chosen this location due towards its chaotic atmosphere that runs throughout the city, where a lot of noises, smell looms throughout the area. I conducted an experiment to admire my surroundings (before lockdown) to walk around Queen St admiring the environment. Doing this without my earphones gets me to admire my surroundings. Things such as the smell and sounds that resonate throughout the street shows how chaotic this street is. The resemblance of atmosphere between this Queen St and Street food back home. Different types of smell emanating around us as people cook, to add to are the lines and crowded area of people waiting in line to ger their food.

Another artist/publisher that I have found in the arena channel that illustrates scribble art. This is a cookbook dated back in the 1963 in West Oakland, it tell its story of a building that house homeless people and travelers from faraway places. It is a place of welcoming towards any people in need to invite them in a worm cozy house. Visual arts around it are hand drawn in a very authentic ways in showing the outcome of different food that are made. Although a recipe book it had a warm and inviting environment, which further relates toward my project of this year, a warm inviting dinner for OFW to have a taste of home and for other people to have a taste of our culture and cousins.

Doing some research throughout Arena channel and found an artist, Artem Mayushikin who inspired me to do these drawings as a collaborative with Icinoris. Artem Matyushilin is an art director and graphic designer, most of frame works are focused digitally. As most of his artwork are focused through the uses of poetry and a story to tell. Matyushilin’s work consist of scientific, technical, and visual elements, then converts these data into abstract art. Thus, they are not only circles and squares, but a string of data collected from experiments and their outcome.

Using pastel and water based paints throughout these papers, painting these creates a sense of atmosphere within these tables. These background colours represents the colours of the Philippine flag. To add to that is how earthy and environmental friendly this event is going to be. Uses of green and brown shows how wooded materials and decomposable materials will be used throughout the process.

Just a bit of an update before the critique happened are the mediums that I have used for this paint in designing my table within paper. Experimenting with these mediums on how the they are going to turn out. It was my first time using water pastels. With this it ran smoothly then expected and, one thing that troubled me was the transition and mix of each colours together.

My family usually goes home every 5 years in the Philippines for a vacation, this year with Covid we were very unlucky to go back. God knows when this lockdown will end and will be able to travel back home free from restrictions. In this case, this Filo Festival is a place to bring the country were food. Food is a very universal part of our lives enables us to connects. Another main idea for this festival is to relive a nostalgic part of my life by eating street food with my family and a traditional Kamaya. It is a culture that everyone goes through back home and is still rich to this day. It is all something that Filipinos can relate to, the tradition and cultures that we all go through will never be lost as we travel to another country. Another aspect is OFW (Overseas Filipino Workers), these workers come where alone to make a living, sending money back home to feed their family. These people have become very homesick due to their attachment with their family back home. Thus, this Filo Festival is a sense of home to them providing them with a sense of home within Nz. To be able to experience a piece of culture and tradition using food gives people a glimpse of life back at home.
