This has to be one of my favourite moments ever
youtube
The way Watson says "even to just prove he exists" the sass!
And "the police and public, let alone me"
I always roll me eyes at that because like. You did not know Holmes until he practically adopted you, Watson, but. Still.
Also the dramatic messing of papers while telling Watson about his brothers make me giggle too much okay.
Also the way Holmes so nonchalantly brags about his brother.
And Watson is so so confused like no Holmes wait a minute and tell me everything what and Holmes is like No I'll show you come with me
And when Watson goes into the sitting area thing Holmes is like so annoyed like Watson I have to show you my brilliant brother. And the way he does a lil twirl while waiting for Watson to come back like hurry up he's WAITING. So cute asskjsksksjsjdhfhhf
He is just so awed at everything. And Holmes is like No you haven't even see the Man yet. Come along. Also the way MR Newspaper man looks away from Watson like HOW Dare YOU be in this room with me hahha
The relief in Watson when he's told he can talk.
Also. The way Holmes tilts his head when he sees his brother and the look in his eyes and how he waits until Mycroft tells him to join and to go the the ladder even though there is like no doubt that Sherlock comes here a lot a lot is just. DO YOU WANT TO KILL ME FROM THE CUTENESS
Tumblr media
This particular shot is like. My life.
Also. Watson's look that whole time they are deducing. 😍
"This was just a bit too much just now" I can't help but think that Watson physically couldn't imagine that Holmes missed something that Mycroft saw and also that there is ANOTHER one and also the way he is looking at Mycroft I feel like Watson wants to just poke both brothers brains a lot because "OH MY another one and they are on one wavelength and—" with that line.
And how Mycroft is looks at him like is he an alien he doesn't think we saw that what. And the way Sherlock is smiling while he looks at Mycroft 💖 and instantly starts telling Watson what he sees and the way Mycroft looks at him and then waits for him to pause to add what he sees and OH MY I'M MELTING HERE
Like I think that the reason Holmes did not bring Mycroft around more often is because he could practically feel the way Watson's head would explode by being next to the two most brilliant men ever ALL THE TIME and also because I'm telling you I would explode if they were always together and also because. Like. That being everyone's face permanently. It would ruin the world Sherlock was just shielding us.

Sherlock's ashamed/nervous expression when he tells Watson he *almost* wrote him kills me. So vulnerable 😭
I want to give big hugs to Watson in this scene and as much as I love Sherlock, I wanna slap him. How dare you let your bf think you're dead!

Just saw a picture of a young Jeremy Brett and had to think of the fact that Sherlock was only 27 when he met Watson. Like my god…

Just listened to The Musgrave Ritual again (by Stephen Fry of course) and I really love what they did with it in Granada Holmes. How they kept the canon and still included Watson to be here with Holmes.
Tumblr media
Also I’ll never be able to read or listen to the stories without imagining the Granada scenes. Well, fortunately there are a few that didn’t make it on screen so… LOL.

These pictures are so funny to me because it looks like a normal photoshoot with your friend and partner. Nothing interesting.
Tumblr media
Why are they looking at me like that?! Why are they staring into my soul?! Guys?! Go back to looking at whatever was over to the side. You're starting to scare me

Jeremy Brett is way too pretty I just had to draw him
This was my reference. He's a little off in my drawing, but I like to think I did him justice (Just dont look at the background)

Granada Holmes gains a Holmes! S1 E9, The Greek Interpreter
S1 E9 (Copper Beeches) this way
S1 E10 (Norwood Builder) this way
(Start at the beginning w S1E1 here)
It’s time for Watson to meet the family! …which means that Holmes needs to explain that there IS a family 😅
Tumblr media
Your wut
This conversation is hilarious though, because Holmes starts off talking about completely different relatives, going on about French artists and such, and appears to mention Mycroft only in passing—when in fact, he planned the whole spiel because Mycroft had summoned him and he wanted to invite Watson along. (How long have you two been dating? Srsly it’s about time he met the parents big brother)
Ohh this is where they substituted “odd” instead of “queer.” Normally I’d say “oh ffs just say queer,” but tbh I think Jeremy’s doing a good job of conveying it
Tumblr media
On to the Diogenes Club! Which sounds DELIGHTFUL. A whole club dedicated to not talking and not making eye contact! 😍
The Holmes brothers instantly break into a deduct-off
For all that this is a club about being solitary, Mycroft sure does have a second ladder/seat thing set up ready and waiting for Sherlock—how often do they do this? 🤔
Anyway, Mycroft wins, I think
Tumblr media
Watson possibly has literal stars in his eyes
We meet the Greek Interpreter of the title, and Sherlock does not particularly enjoy Mycroft beating him to the interrogatory punch
Tumblr media
Compare his reaction from Copper Beeches when Watson did the same:
Tumblr media
Heheh who’s your favorite, Sherlock?
All kinds of kidnapping and skullduggery happens to our poor Greek interpreter, resulting in Watson going full doctor
I’m not sure we’ve ever seen him that urgent. He’s full-on taking charge and shouting orders. Really shouting, not just talking loudly
I expect Sherlock would be enjoying the show if he weren’t also extremely stressed and pissed off right now
At this point we completely depart from canon, possibly solely for the sake of annoying poor Mycroft
Tumblr media
Sherlock just bodily lifts him into a moving train while he’s yelling about not being made for this, Sherlock!!!
Then there’s some downtime, which Sherlock fills by breaking some rules
Tumblr media
Heheheh
There’s also a very blink-and-you-miss-it moment where Watson looks worriedly at the sign and then at Holmes; Holmes has no reaction at all. Our doctor is still more rule-bound than his detective 😆
With one bad guy cornered, he just…opens the exterior door and gets killed? I’m…really not sure what his plan was there?
However, it gives us an actual Holmes/Watson handhold, so I’m not too mad
(Note the content warning for guns, this pic and next)
Tumblr media
To be clear, there’s no logistical reason for Watson to have taken Holmes’s hand here. Holmes was holding Watson back, not the other way around. If anything, you might expect him to be trying to get Holmes’s arm off of him (he was definitely not doing that)
Finally it’s Mycroft’s turn to show off as he apprehends the last criminal
Tumblr media
Watson is so proud of his brother-in-law
With the change from canon, we end up with one of those situations where the modern adaptation is actually more misogynistic than Doyle’s version was. Sophy is reduced to being completely obsessed with her toxic relationship with Latimer, to the extent that she doesn’t really care what he did to her brother. ACD’s version where she stabbed both the dudes is frankly much better (and doesn’t rely on Latimer inexplicably throwing himself out of a train)
However we do get this iconic shot
Tumblr media
So, you know, not a total loss
I mean we also got Watson and the Holmes brothers adventuring together, which is very fun (still coulda had Sophy do cooler stuff though)
Next ep: Norwood Builder

This scene is the most ridiculous (and hottest) thing I've ever seen.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*watch again*
Tumblr media
His hair!! ASDFGSGSAF
Tumblr media
The way he dodges the blows. I'm on my knees.
Tumblr media
THAT DAMN LITTLE SMILE
And do not forget the:
"The next few minutes were delicious. It was a straight left against a slogging ruffian. I emerged as you see me. Mr. Woodley went home in a cart. "
