y'all are lucky you can't see me translating the episodes... every time I hear Taiga's voice or he has a scene, I get so ridiculously happy and end up staring at him because he's so pretty.
his ears just make me think he is secretly an elf 😭 naur wait, now I gotta design fantasy versions of everyone because that would be such a fun au?? Makoto is obviously a mermaid. Kakeru as a dwarf... Ouu shapeshifter Housuke! Yuuki as a fae queen just sounds right;;
Gabu being a half-dragon half-elf actually!!
I need to write these down somewhere, I feel like I'm onto something–

Dr. STONE Review: Spoilers Ahead!
finished the last chapter of Dr. STONE with the 235'th chapter: 3D, and I don't think it's going to get another one and hence they left Byakuya's state a mystery, but if hypothetically there was to be another chapter... then as an extra, it would be 4D, and like Chelsea and Gen implied, 4D thinking is thinking with emotions and people, not just purely logic. Which sounds like the perfect way to encapsulate what happened to Byakuya, no matter what his ending was.
Personally, I want to believe that he did get petrified, and that he would wake up to see that his faith in Senku was very much founded and made true. I want them to have a few more years together before aging ultimately brings him to death again.
Although I'm not a huge fan of the time travel plan, that's moreso because I believe the 58th century world has a lot more natural resources and lesser pollution to sustain survival for longer than if they were to revert back to 21st century. Also, going back would also erase the existence of all of Ishigami village and Treasure Island and I don't want those people to go. I'd rather bank on the space cities plan going about in a more efficient and world-saving way. Honestly, if Senku puts his mind to it, I'm pretty sure he can figure out a way to not destroy Earth while doing all this crazy stuff.
Well. I've finished Dr. Stone after a lot of binge watching over a week or two, and then a long of binge reading over two days. This is definitely one of the best written, planned and executed animangas I've ever read and also objectively there will be. Not to say that it is perfect, because it has quite a few flaws, but if you weigh the outcome against the premise and desired result, I would say it's definitely a 10 billion percent success.
I really loved all the characters so much, their personalities were all endearing to me. As crazy as it is to say this, Dr. STONE is unrealistic as fuck, not because of the scientific principles, but because of the people in it. There's no way we could have so many geniuses in such a close age range, or these inhumanly strong and hardworking people.
If humanity in the real world was to be petrified, the most realistic outcome is actually a true nightmare that I won't put into words. But hey, fiction isn't meant to reflect reality, and that's what makes it beautiful. It may have been unrealistic and crazy, but it was more exciting than reality could ever be. I would definitely recommend this manga to anyone who would find the premise interesting.
Because really, that's all you need to enjoy it. Once you're in there, the story will carry you straight till the end.
The only thing I didn't quite enjoy about the ending was the kind of vague Kohaku and Senku coupling. Not that they confirmed it, but they implied it a lot more over any other pairing for Senku with that one panel of them up close. And while I love the both of them individually, I fear the story itself did not give much in terms of a dynamic or chemistry that's romantic to me personally, so I will keep seeing them platonically. I would rather they had kept it completely ambiguous since romance was never the focus, rather than one panel of confusion to the whole vagueness, but well, it is what it is. If Kohaku does end up marrying him, my thoughts, sorrows and prayers to her for putting up with Senku's insane bullshit, lol.
And finally, gotta mention by top favourite characters after all we've been through!!
In males, Chrome takes first place, followed by Tsukasa, Senku, Ukyo, Ryusui, Sai– ah this list is gonna be unending TT Sai really sealed the deal for me with his cute personality and the fact that he's half-Indian and most probably in Mumbai, if we go by where the maps indicated the Perseus going. Chrome will always stay on top though, because he's the true genius here. Being able to understand and create and come up with all that he has, without the basics that Senku and Xeno had privilege to? Yeah, he's a real prodigy, a talented genius and hardworker.
In females, Suika takes top spot, followed by Nikki. Hmm, the cast is quite male heavy now that I think about it. Detective Suika really became Scientist Suika and I love that so much for herrr;; still, that reminds of the one great crucial flaw of Dr. STONE that's always driven me crazy– how tf does everyone with glasses in the New World have the same damn glasses number??? Suika's glasses magically gave sight to way too many of them. I excused it by the idea that it wasn't perfect for everyone, but that Suika's mask atleast made it a bit clearer than before. That's how numbers work anyway.
The art was amazing, but I do mourn that Boichii couldn't show the aging as well. I suspect that's probably because the main cast is so big that designing slightly older designs for the multiple time skips would have been a highly time consuming task that might have delayed the chapters even more. It's a real shame, but I understand.
I didn't really plan to make such a long post haha, but I suppose it was bound to happen since I don't know anyone who has read Dr. STONE and so have no one to say all these thoughts to. Man, I wish it becomes even more popular. I know it's not like a complete unknown anime, and it's definitely been mentioned enough for non-fans to atleast know the name, but it would be pretty sweet if even more people got to know this masterpiece.

Dr. STONE Ch. 221 Spoilers
I'm sorry, are you GAY LIKE WHAT THE HELL my stomach swooped so fast like what you need to do that for—
Tumblr media
on a calmer and sadder note, it's been well over nearly a decade atleast since Xeno got de-petrified. which means he's probably much older than Stanley now, even though Boichi's art doesn't show the difference. so Stan is probably noting down the how he has aged in Xeno's face.
oh, to see your childhood friend after a long time but it's only been like a blink for you; to know they've grown older in ways you have not, to know you're likelier to outlive them should nature run its course without any accidents... (if Stan would just stop smoking that is. ngl maybe the smoking can ensure they die around the same time who tf knows)

baby Ryusui going "I want it" 😭😭 bro was born greedy fr

his name should have been stars related, to make a pun about all the hoshii
and since stars are also connected to the sea, it would have worked as a double wordplay

not to get overly poetic about it but...nalu as a dynamic is kinda crazy to me like. what if we were best friends? what if we were kinda silly and ridiculous and stupid about each other? what if we were connected across time and space for 400 years? what if we bumped into each other on a random tuesday? what if you changed my life? what if we had a dogged, unwavering and irrational faith in each other right from the get go? what if the greatest tragedy of my life was directly linked to the greatest tragedy of yours? what if, in a different timeline, i watched you and the rest of my friends die, and there was nothing i could do about it? what if i watched a future version of you die and i sobbed over your broken body? what if you were my last tether to humanity? what if i broke the laws of magic to save you? what if you came back to me in the place we first met? what if we were meant to be in every single universe? what if we still chose each other, every single time, anyway?

flowers in your hair | s. tsukasa
Fandom: Dr. STONE
Pairing: Shishio Tsukasa x GN!Reader
Word Count: 1.2k
Genre/Tags: Fluff, Hair Brushing, Hair Braiding
Warning(s): Spoilers to end of Season 3 of the Anime / Treasure Island arc
A/n: I've been having a terrible case of writer's block so I decided to do a random drabble run to get myself to write again;; Tsukasa is my first victim because I watched the end of season 3 today and I have Feelings™ about his hair. oh, also because most of the fics I can find on ao3 are sex related. and I wanted something soft. remember kids, if you're hungry, you gotta feed yourself.
also available on ao3!
Tumblr media
Tsukasa’s hair always drew your attention. From the moment you had first met him, it was the one aspect of him that stood out the most to you, if you kept aside the overwhelming aura and charisma he had. It looked so thick and shiny and soft– and the urge to run your fingers through it was overpowering at the best of times.
Still, it would be crazy to go up to the leader of your little empire and ask if you could do his hair. Nobody in their right mind would encourage you to do that.
And yet. When he talked to you, it was with a kindness that threw you in for a loop. It was hard to put that side of Tsukasa together with the one who crushed the statues. But even so, his sincerity was real, and so was his warmth. Though you could not side with him ultimately, defecting to the Kingdom of Science alongside Ukyo, you held hope for him.
So when much, much later on, you saw him step out of his cryostasis, freshly re-petrified and then de-petrified, there was a tightness to your chest. When it was finally just the two of you in the morning, boiling water for the day’s consumption, and he smiled at you with the same warmth and softness as he always had, the first words you said to him were,
“Can I touch your hair?”
Of course you regretted it the moment the last syllable fell out of your mouth, but Tsukasa only blinked in minute confusion before nodding. Even with his consent, you hesitated for a few seconds. Seeing that, he leaned his head closer to you, and picked up your hand so loosely and gently that the touch gave you goosebumps. You ran warm, but Tsukasa somehow ran warmer. In the slight chill of early morning, it was enough to make you flinch. He paused at the movement, but since you didn’t remove your hand from his, he brought it up to his hair.
It really was as soft as it looked. A sound came out from you, even though you tried to muffle it in your throat itself– something like a soft squeal, but not quite. A tiny smile drew up on Tsukasa’s lips at it, and you didn’t hold back your own after finally getting to touch his hair.
“I always wanted to do this,” you confessed to him, somehow encouraged by the tranquility of a slow morning job where you were away from the eyes of everyone else for once. “I’ve always wanted to braid it. One tail would suit you so well. Your hair is beautiful.”
“Thank you,” his voice seemed a little pleased, but you weren’t sure. You had never talked to him much to be able to figure out how he showed his feelings while speaking, but that’s what it felt like. “If you still want to, I do not mind you braiding it for me right now.”
“R- Really?” The offer shocked you to the core. Was that all it took? All this time you just had to ask him? Had it really been that easy all along?
“Mm,” he hummed and let loose the hair-ties. You hurried to get out the hair brush Yuzuriha crafted for you from your bag, and checked the water once before you turned to him. Since he was quite tall, you had to stand behind him to work.
Tsukasa stayed perfectly still as you gently started to brush his hair and tried not to make any sounds at how soft it was. For someone who was so well known for being strong, you didn’t expect him to take such good care of his hair.
“Can I also weave in some flowers?” You asked, already preparing to hear a rejection, but instead your question was met with an affirmation. Happier than before, you pulled out the tiny orange and red flowers you had found during your morning walk, and carefully weaved them into the braid you had started. When you finally reached the bottom, Tsukasa wordlessly held out his hair-tie and you finished with a triumphant, “And we’re done!”
“Thank you,” he said, still not facing you.
“I feel like I should be the one thanking you,” you laughed as you kept everything back in the bag. “I hope you like it.”
“I do,” he said, voice sounding strangely heavy. You raised an eyebrow as you walked past him to remove the pot of water and put on the next one.
“You haven’t even seen it yet,” you said with a smile. “Why don’t you check it out in the mirror back at the tents?”
There was silence as you carefully put on the next pot and kept the old one aside. When you were done, you turned around to see him with a frown– only to be surprised at what were clearly tear tracks on his cheeks. There was no way Tsukasa cried. He had never even once shown a single drop of tear in front of anyone, so why would this make him cry? It made no sense and you felt a little scared.
“Tsukasa?” You asked cautiously, kneeling down across him so that you were face to face. “Should I leave?”
“No,” he said, voice barely above a whisper. Then he cleared his throat, looked up and away, before he smiled again. “I just couldn’t remember the last time someone did my hair with so much… care.”
“Not even your mom?” You asked, following his line of sight to the distant horizon.
“My family wasn’t…” He never finished the line but he didn’t need to. You just hummed and tucked your knees up to your chin, letting the silence pervade the atmosphere. It didn’t feel awkward, not with the sounds of the waves crashing in the distance, and the growing murmur as everyone started waking up one by one.
“Mirai-chan would love to do your hair, I think,” you mused out loud. “I can teach her.”
“You can use me as a practice dummy,” Tsukasa said, a soft smile gracing his lips. You, who had turned to face him at that moment, couldn’t help but blush at the sight, because it was increasingly warm and tender in a way that felt intimate.
“You’ll probably want to check your hair out before everyone wakes up and sees it,” you said, looking away to hide your face. “I really did a number on it, you know.”
“Are you scared of me?” Tsukasa’s non-sequitur had you pausing, the pink flushing out from your cheeks as you raised an eyebrow. His face gave nothing away, perfectly blank and yet expectant of an answer.
“It would be a lie to say I’m not,” you replied, “but it would be a lie to say that I am as well.”
Tsukasa hummed, “Yes, I suppose so. Still, I want to know why you are not apprehensive of me.”
“I don’t know,” you smiled to yourself, leaning over to check the water so he can’t see your expression. “Maybe it’s because your smile has always seemed so kind to me.”
“Somehow, I feel like yours has been far kinder than my own,” he answered.
You stood up and walked over to him, leaning down so your face was quite close to his own. Tsukasa didn’t flinch at the proximity, and you smiled as you tuck in the last remaining flower above his ear. The colours really suited his beautiful face.
“Kindness is never a competition; it's just what makes us human, silly.”

one reason why being a Haikyuu fan is so rewarding... even years after the story has ended, we still get to know tidbits about these characters and watch them grow with us 😭
the insane experience of missing a fictional character . like you can always go back and reread the book , replay the game , rewatch the show or movie , you can always go back & see them , but you can never experience them & their story for the first time again . its absurd to miss them because they'll always be there , but you'll miss when there were still new things for them to say .
for a small time they were real & growing and changing and you hung onto every new word, but now all they can do is repeat the same story forever&ever & they're not real anymore because you know everything they're going to do. & you miss them. its fucked man...

I started Doctor Stone and why are there so many good delicious characters... I've literally been hopping from one to the next when browsing reader fics... I kid you not it went like mm Senku to Kinro to Ginro to Chrome to Hyoga to Ukyo to Tsukasa to Ryusui like. Everyone here is too attractive for their own good.
But admittedly my most favourite has somehow become Chrome. I usually don't like to think of characters who canonically like someone else, but Ruri and him are taking forever, and he's way too cute 😭 i suppose they will end up together in canon at some point...
Taiju and Yuzuriha haven't had a proper confession either but they're already together in my head; they're married and everything, yes.
if I stay stuck here too long, I might end up writing Dr. Stone fanfics lmao

Ch. 94 of Dungeon Meshi
Tumblr media
someone had mentioned in the comments about how the whole demon eating him halfway was an allegory for sexual assault and it really stuck with me through the course of the manga;;
even when he called himself leftovers, the desire not for revenge but to be finished off, to feel like a husk of who you are... Senshi's little speech about how leftovers can grow into new shoots, into new life just felt so... perfect, hopeful, and real in its rawest sense. you're not defined your trauma, and you are not limited to it. you can still grow and heal and become someone you are proud of. and you don't have to do it immediately either, like dunmeshi says: eat, rest, and take it easy. you can do it.
most of all though, I really really liked seeing Mithrun smile TT it makes my heart so happy
