ART getting really into fragrance (it's a flex because its recyclers can fabricate really sophisticated scents and its air circulation/filtration systems are so good that you could unload a whole can of Axe and the person on the other side of the room would only catch a tastefully subtle hint on the barely-perceptible breeze). ART doing deep-dives into the pits of fragrantica to find Objectively Good Smells to design custom scents for each of its crew members so it can upgrade its almost-indistinguishable-from-water showers even further. ART being hugely frustrated that agreeing on Objectively Good Smells is apparently yet another thing that humans are bad at (ART's experience of smell is very different from a human's. Its favourite smells are largely determined by the shape and structure of the molecules. Some are pleasingly symmetrical. It does not correlate strongly with smells that humans seem to like, or, in some cases, are able to perceive without the compound being present in quantities that pose a health hazard).
ART riding MB's inputs and demanding it sniff things so it can expand its data set. ART wanting to design a scent for MB but knowing it is likely to reject the idea as being something For Humans even though it likes showers and the humans seem to agree that pleasantly-scented shower products can enhance the experience. ART getting around this by designing a range of aggressively-synthetic fragrances that no human would ever, ever wear to present to MB along with some more standard options.
Murderbot ends up with New Car Smell.

Malvolio’s Revolve
The joy of Shakespeare is that even if you see the same play dozens of times, each production is its own, unique experience.
Having said that… there are certain bits of stage business that often crop up in numerous productions. One of my favorites is Malvolio’s revolve.
Just for fun, here are various examples of Malvolio’s revolve that have been captured on film. (If the gifs don’t work, check out my original post here.)
Tumblr media
Alec Guinness in the 1970 ITV Saturday Night Theatre production  does the classic dubious, self-conscious revolve, although Sir Toby and his gang are safely behind a hedge and don’t have to hide.
Tumblr media
Nicholas Pennell in this 1986 filmed production at the Stratford Festival of Canada executes a confident and rarely-seen double revolve, forcing his peanut gallery to duck out of sight.
Tumblr media
In this filmed version of the Renaissance Theatre Company’s 1988 production, Richard Briers executes a very slow , dubious revolve that is notable for being counter-clockwise. In my experience, most Malvolios revolve in a clockwise direction.
Tumblr media
Finally, this Stratford Festival production milks the revolve for all it’s worth, with Tom Rooney’s Malvolio turning at just the right speed to miss Sir Andrew’s desperate dash across the stage.
Some productions choose to have Malvolio turn the letter around, rather than himself. Others either blow past the line without acknowledging its comedic gag potential, or cut it in its entirety. All are valid choices, but honestly… why look a gift gag in the mouth?

I have a soft spot for zombie movies bc you know those extras are having fun. usually being a movie extra just means standing around blending into the background, but these guys get to put on gory makeup then run around screaming and growling and trying to bite people. aspirational

I miss when everyone on my dash listened to Welcome to Night Vale so there’s be a good chance that on any ole day someone would reblog a quote that would grab me by the throat and forcibly ascend me to a higher plane where I understood myself and the universe better and with more kindness but also a little spook

I recently got an on-campus job. During the interview process, I requested that I not be scheduled on Friday nights or Saturdays as I am a Jewish student.
My boss immeadiately brightened and rushed to explain - "Of course ! Of course! We want to accomodate you! We have another worker who takes off for Ramadan. Do you need to take off for Ramadan?"
I shook my head, incredibly confused. "Uh. That's. Not my jurisdiction. I'm good." Boss nodded but was sure to add "Let me know if that ever changes. We can help you with Ramadan."

The Steven Universe fandom might be “cringe” and “bad” but imagine a fandom so bad that a bunch of fandom members had ran a scheme to say “if you pay us money, your blorbo will know you’re valid” and the fandom permanently split over a 95 paragraph callout post of these people.
