"The injuries we do and those we suffer are seldom measured in the same scales." -Aesop (Ancient Greek storyteller)
What do you think he meant by this?
How do you think this quote might apply specifically to the issue of students who cheat on exams?
Aesop's words seem to mean that people are more likely to feel what they have suffered than what they have done. We are more likely to judge other people's faults than those committed by themselves. In connection with cheating, for example, I self-justify that I did not have enough time to study or made a mistake or had no choice, but seeing someone cheat can lead to an unbearable or very damaging illusion. I think this points out that we should be able to understand other people's perspectives and look objectively at the effects of our actions.

"When students cheat on exams, it's because our school system values grades more than our students value learning."-Neil deGrasse Tyson (American astrophysicist, author, and science communicator)
The message this person wants to convey seems to mean that the educational system is more focused on achievements, or grades, than on learning purposes, and that students should create an environment where they can study with true learning purposes. I agree and sympathize with this statement. I also have lived by focusing only on grades like A, as I can't remember when pure learning was valued. I think in Korea, there is a view that is recognized only when the results are better than the process of studying, so I think I lived with that focus. If I am given time to study purely without being evaluated, I would like to study without fear of failing no matter the results.

"The point of argument, or of discussion, should not be victory, but progress." -Joseph Joubert (French moralist and essayist)
What do you think 'winning' an argument actually means?
What do you think Joubert meant by this statement?
Why do you think Joubert believed progress should be the goal of argument?
Winning an argument means beating your opponent and making you accept your argument.
Zuber seems to have said that the purpose of the argument is not to overwhelm the opponent, but to find better understanding and solutions.
He must have thought that he should aim for progress because he believed that the debate should not end meaninglessly but contribute to the development of individuals and society.

Helen Keller said,"Personality cannot be nurtured in a comfortable, quiet environment." I agree with this. It seems that people try to become stronger, kinder, and more responsible people amid certain difficulties. For example, if you get up again when you fail an exam and study harder, you will gain a greater sense of accomplishment. Also, if you help your friend when he or she is having a hard time, you can be considerate.
I think I'm also developing my own personality and values. It's not perfect, but I try to do my best even in difficult situations, and I try to live helping my friends.

TOPIC: Do you enjoy advertisements on sites like Youtube? Do you feel they are helpful?
I don't enjoy YouTube advertisements at all. I used to pay for premium services because I hate advertisements so much. Whenever there is an advertisement, the flow of the video I was watching is cut off, which is annoying and frustrating. However, sometimes I bought new food or products after watching YouTube advertisements because I wanted to buy them. When I see something like this, I think advertisements have an effect, but I personally hate them.

Adding value to someone else's life is one of the most important things you can do with your life, and it has nothing to do with money."- Joshua Fields Millburn (author)
-What do you think it means for you to add value to someone else's life as it pertains to learning how to write?
Assuming that someone sympathizes with and is impressed through my writing, it will be touching and rewarding to myself. It is something that cannot be gained through other experiences. Assuming that someone sympathizes with and is impressed through my writing, it will be touching and rewarding to myself. It is something that cannot be gained through other experiences.
-How can you add value to someone else's life through your writing?
For example, if I write a diary, I will write down the experiences and feelings I felt throughout the day in my writing. If someone reads it, I will be able to feel the feelings and feelings as if I have become myself, and it feels to me like writing is a means of getting empathy and understanding. I think that others can read my writing and feel various emotions and go through the process of understanding another personality through it. I think the process of understanding and empathizing with others is one of the meaningful and essential things for social humans. Through this, I think I can give value to others through writing.
-Why is adding value to someone else's life one of the most important things you can do with yours?
I think humans are social animals, so they cannot live alone. For that to happen, I feel that I need to know how to have a deep conversation with others, not my family, and practice reading the person's expressions, emotions, and thoughts. And I am putting this into practice in society such as school and work. I think writing is also one of the means to practice this. It gives me a sense of accomplishment when I perform a certain task perfectly or complete a given task, but the sense of accomplishment when I am fused with others and have a good social life is incomparably great. So I think that giving value to others is the most important thing among the many things I can do in my life. I think humans are social animals, so I cannot live alone. For that to happen, I feel that I need to know how to have a deep conversation with others, not my family, and I need to practice reading the person's expressions, emotions, and thoughts. Wassily Kandinsky’s statement, “to create a work of art is to create the world,” suggests that every piece of art has the power to manifest an entirely new reality. When an artist creates, they don’t merely reproduce or interpret what already exists; they forge a unique world that embodies their vision, emotions, and ideas. This world isn’t bound by the same laws or expectations of the physical world but instead follows the artist’s internal compass. Through colors, shapes, and textures, the artist brings forth a realm that can evoke new feelings, thoughts, and perspectives in the viewer.
Kandinsky, a pioneer of abstract art, deeply believed in the spiritual and transformative power of art. In his view, a painting wasn’t just a representation of external reality but a conduit to an inner one—a new world that resonates with the soul. He aimed to tap into a universal language of colors and forms, one that transcends cultural and linguistic barriers. By doing so, he believed an artist could touch something profoundly human and even spiritual, making the artwork a world of its own.
Creating art, in this sense, is like creating a world because it invites the viewer into a space crafted from the artist’s imagination and emotions. It’s a world born of dreams, passions, and personal experiences, providing an escape from the everyday and offering a glimpse into the unknown. Through this, Kandinsky might be expressing that art is not just about reproducing what we see but about expanding our understanding of the world by exploring and sharing something entirely new.

This quote from James Deacon speaks to the idea that perception is shaped not only by the object or situation we observe, but also by our unique point of view. It suggests that where we stand—our experiences, emotions, biases, and expectations—plays a significant role in shaping how we interpret the world.
1. Why do you think it is important that one should be aware of one’s perspective?
Being aware of our own perspective is crucial because it allows us to recognize that our view is not the only possible one. It helps us understand that our thoughts, beliefs, and feelings influence how we see things, sometimes narrowing our view or adding certain biases. Awareness of our perspective can lead to a more open mind, encouraging us to look beyond our initial interpretations and consider alternative viewpoints.
2. What do you think the author means by this?
The author likely means that our understanding of the world is deeply influenced by our position or context. What we see and how we interpret it is not simply based on external reality but is filtered through the lens of our own perspective. By saying “where you look from,” Deacon emphasizes that our point of view can dramatically alter our perception, leading to different understandings, beliefs, and even judgments about the same object or situation.
3. Why is it significant?
This idea is significant because it underscores the value of self-awareness and empathy. Recognizing the role of perspective can lead to greater compassion for others, as we understand that their views are shaped by their unique experiences. It also encourages us to question our assumptions and remain open to new information. By understanding that our viewpoint is just one of many, we can become more adaptable, creative, and open-minded.
4. Do you think it is important to try to see things from different perspectives? Why or why not?
Yes, it is essential to try to see things from different perspectives because it broadens our understanding and helps us avoid misunderstandings. When we put ourselves in someone else’s shoes, we gain insights that can lead to stronger relationships, better problem-solving, and a more compassionate approach to others. It fosters empathy, enabling us to understand others’ motivations, fears, and values, which ultimately makes for a more inclusive and understanding society. Additionally, considering different perspectives can lead to personal growth, helping us challenge our own beliefs and learn new ways of seeing the world.
In summary, this quote reminds us that our perceptions are subjective and encourages us to look beyond our own limited viewpoint. By striving to see things from various perspectives, we can develop a richer, more nuanced understanding of the world and the people in it.

1. **What Howard Thurman meant by "come alive"**
In this quote, Howard Thurman is encouraging individuals to discover their passions, purpose, or true calling—what makes them feel deeply engaged, energized, and fulfilled. To "come alive" means to connect with activities or pursuits that give life meaning and joy. Thurman suggests that when people engage in what they are passionate about, they bring unique energy and creativity to the world, which in turn benefits society.
2. **What makes me "come alive" and why the world needs people who have "come alive"**
Personally, what makes me "come alive" is engaging in creative problem-solving, helping others learn, and having deep, meaningful conversations that lead to personal growth or insight. These activities make me feel fulfilled because they connect me to something greater—whether it's improving someone’s understanding or contributing to collective well-being.
The world needs people who have "come alive" because they bring authenticity, enthusiasm, and innovation into everything they do. When people are passionate and aligned with their purpose, they tend to contribute more meaningfully to society, inspire others, and help create a world where more individuals are living with purpose rather than mere obligation. It’s the spark of life in these individuals that drives progress and fosters positive change.
