being texted and asked if you'd mind taking a huge stash of "extra" candy off a friend's hands? sounds amazing, you're immediately convinced!

being left all alone in a room with jake sim in said friend's house?

... not as amazing, actually. because why is he so close to you right now and why does he look so gorgeous in those glasses and fuck, now you're breathing all weird—and where the fuck did sunghoon run away?!

this is all his fault now that you think about it.

stupid sunghoon and his stupid shopaholic habits. like, seriously, who "accidentally" buys 18 jars of assorted candy from some (slightly shady) instagram account?

when he'd asked you to take some—because, really, what the hell was he going to do with 18 whole jars?—you'd more than happily agreed. one would have to be a different level of stupid to say no to free candy.

but you'd forgotten to take into account that maybe, just maybe, he wasn't expecting you to take, like, 17 out of his 18 jars. and maybe he'd have called someone else; namely his best friend (aforementioned jake sim) before you to give him a jar or two as well.

blissfully unaware—and with your pretty little head full of rainbows, lollipops and daydreams—you'd made your way to sunghoon's. only to knock on the door and have your little bubble of sugary happiness burst.

jake sim.

in front of you.

looking at you with the most devastating expression—eyes wide, lips slightly parted like there's words at the tip of his tongue but they refuse to come out, and the slightest red fluster on his features.

you're fucked.

how are you expected to be normal right now?

thankfully, before you have the time to react (either sprinting away, spontaneously exploding on the spot or worse, jumping jake's bones) sunghoon pops out, shoving him to the side and pulling you inside.

he says something about how there's been a slight issue—all 18 jars of candy seem to have the worst possible flavors in the entire history of sweet confectionaries—though you forget to actually listen, busy ogling the way jake runs a hand through his hair.

the three of you walk to the kitchen and are greeted by all of the candy in its shiny, sticky glory.

you open one of the wooden stoppers, taking out the first tiny plastic wrapped sphere your fingers find. twisting the wrapper, you then seat yourself on the kitchen counter, glad to have something to do with your hands.

sunghoon looks at you with an awed expression. you send him back an entirely confused one in response.

and just as you start getting comfortable, he announces that he's left some jars by the garage which he should probably go grab.

which means ... you and jake are left all alone.

when he catches your gaze, you look down sharply and pop the piece of candy into your mouth, desperately trying to think of anything other than jake sim and how he's walking closer to you.

"what flavor was it?"

pausing for a second, you process the faintly mud-like texture and stony flavor ... looking back at the wrapper reveals the flavor to be clay.

you stick out your tongue, repulsed, "gross."

jake sim, now closer than ever, huffs out a short laugh.

"that bad?"

but you can't bring yourself to reply back. not with the way your breath hitches at the way he leans a hand right next to where you're seated atop the counter.

one of jake's hands cups your jaw, as if asking for permission.

as if on cue, your own free hand instinctively shifts to his shoulder, clutching on as if it'll somehow stabilize your sanity.

and before you know it, his lips slot against yours in a kiss that comes so easy, it makes your senses short circuit.

jake barely gives you a second to breathe, though. swallowing the soft gasp you let out, his tongue slides in, deepening the kiss.

the moment is simultaneously too much and too less. when he pulls away, he leaves you with an odd emptiness.

figuratively and literally.

in the time it takes you to blink, jake seems to have disappeared. sunghoon however, walks back into the kitchen right then.

"everything okay? you look odd."

"... jake stole my candy."

your fingers brush against your lips, having long zoned out when sunghoon promises to look for another similar flavored candy, mumbling about how jake's so dumb—couldn't he just have asked sunghoon for another piece rather than stealing one?

there were literally 18 jars to choose from.

(but to his credit, if either you or hoon were to check the upstairs bathroom, you'd find jake in a similar if not worse state as you, i.e., actively crashing out. and wondering why someone would create a clay-flavored candy in the first place. weird.)

"are you a hater 24/7? or do you ever clock out?" you're already half-bored with this conversation, knowing exactly which direction it's headed in

"i'm not a hater; i'm a concerned friend."

"don't make me laugh when i'm trying to be mad at you."

sunghoon only scoffs, "way to change the subject. i asked you why."

at that, his lips part and close once, then twice,—as if words are failing him—before he ends up falling silent.

"besides." you decide to finally provide some context, "melissa wanted me to hook you up with her, but she said you're, like, super awkward around her. so, she wanted me to tag along.

and, well, i didn't wanna third wheel so ... i was gonna ask ni-ki to come along as a favor."

sunghoon's gaze is sharp as it darts back to you as if on cue, "so you're not into him."

"nah. he is cute, though."

"but you're not into him." his words are slow, savored, in a way. like he can't believe this is happening and needs extra confirmation.

you tilt your head, confusedly, "no?"

"... tell melissa i can't hang out."

"what the hell? why not?" you all but yell, "and don't even try lying—i know you have nothing to do."

the corner of his lips tug upwards before he can school his amusement, "something just came up."

like hell you believe that. he's obviously just trying to get out of it with a lame excuse. "and what exactly is that?"

as expected, he completely ignores your question. "are you free 7pm tomorrow?"

"yeah i guess? now that the melissa & ni-ki date is a bust, or whatever."

the grin threatening to take over his features is finally successful, "perfect. i'll pick you up."

"... but i thought you were busy? what could've possibly come up that—"

you stop, realization dawning in a second too late, his smile spelling everything out for you, "oh."

it's hard not to be suspicious when one day everything's normal, and the next you're seeing jungwon pop up everywhere around you? you're in the drama club? he is, too!!, what a happy coincidence :D and oh, the two of you seem to be going the same way right now, so you might as well let him walk you~ ! >< you'd be annoyed but there's something so cute about the way his entire face lights up when he happens to "accidentally" run into you. so, you let him stick around. how could you say no to that adorable smile anyway? (this works out rather well for said man too, because after all, keeping his crush a secret is not for jungwon. the second he's sure of his feelings, he's already plotting. you won't even know what hit you ;))

sure, he seems like he'd be all cool and suave but i'm here to let you know that that is false information. heeseung would probably be too busy zoning out to thoughts of you to actually do anything. things like "oh __ looked so pretty today .. i wanted to tell them but what if they think i'm being weird :(" on the off chance that you happen to initiate something, oh boy he's a goner. red-cheeked, flustered and stumbling awkwardly over his words, heeseung can barely get a coherent sentence out. in an attempt to not come off as a complete loser he'll probably mumble out 1 single (extremely cringey) pick up line (which he learnt from jay) before absolutely booking it. face card really is the only thing saving him.

hiding crushes is something jay 100% excels at. he is charming to a fault, flirts as if it's second nature to him, but the way he does it seems to tread the line between "platonic" and something decidedly "more" so well it's almost admirable. if you pay close attention though, there's some tell-tale signs of jay's which are a clear giveaway. one, he goes out of his way to impress you—to have your attention on just him by flaunting his skills. two, he'll do anything to hear you laugh for him. not just smiles (even though he adores the soft smiles you direct his way); there's something about seeing you throw your head back, shoulders shaking with suppressed laughter at some or the other teasing remark he let slip that makes his chest swell with pride.

poor baby jake, he'd honestly try his best to approach you, strike up a conversation about something he thinks you'd be interested in—but ends up chickening out :( he is, unfortunately, no stranger to completely losing his composure around you. one (dis)advantage of being unable to think clearly around you is that jake often finds himself unknowingly being rather bold at times. like that one time you weren't sure if the dress you had on was a good choice and he'd all but cornered you against a wall, hands braced next to your head, passionately explaining that you, in fact, looked gorgeous and he'd almost had a nosebleed at the sight of you. when you asked about it later, he admitted he still thought that was a fever dream, actually.

so nonchalant. so unreadable. sure, he's really sweet to you and all his friends have mentioned that sunghoon's never this nice to ... well, anyone, really. but you're just not sure if he means it. he seems so calm and collected at all times—you can't tell if him remembering your exact coffee order (right down the number of espresso shots you like in it) is him dropping a "hint" or if he's just Cool like that. behind this unbothered facade though, the boy hides a completely different self. he secretly can't help but analyze each and every interaction he has with you. you'd text him one offhanded heart emoji and he'd yap to his homeboys about it for hours wondering "what exactly you meant by it."

ㅤ 𝗦𝗜𝗫. ୨୧ KIM SEONWOO

once he has a crush, sunoo already considers you his person. and he will not be subtle about it at all—think playfully teasing you every chance he gets, implied ideas of strictly unplatonic acts. whatever it takes to ensure he's always on your mind. adding to that, he's so very clingy. for example, holding your hand right up to his own to "compare hand sizes" except that ends with him intertwining your fingers together and then pretending he can't hear you when you ask to let go. he is not above spam texting and calling at random 3 am nights either. unashamed king, sunoo honestly wants you to know he's interested and that he's a better option than anyone else you could possibly be interested in.

if ni-ki was in a video game, he'd do all the quests necessary to maximize his "nonchalance" statistics. because god forbid he's vulnerable in front of someone he likes and wishes to pursue a romantic relationship with. jokes aside, he's probably worried of ruining what you and him already have; and hence ni-ki's more than content with merely admiring you from a distance. this, coupled with the fact that he wants you to seem him as someone cool makes him act extra composed and reserved and with just the right amount of mystique (he hopes.) though the way you often catch him staring at you longingly from across rooms, promptly blushing and then looking away quite easily breaks that illusion. oh well.

"get off." you mumble half heartedly, though your annoyance is only for show.

the response, though muffled against the skin of your neck, is instantaneous. "why don't you make me?"

so ni-ki's awake. the little shit. does he have to be so cute at 7.30AM?

"where d'you even think you're going?" his voice is low, rough due to just having woken up—lips brushing against your ear as he speaks for the mere purpose of being a tease.

"i need to get ready. it's already way too late."

your boyfriend pauses, like he's thinking that over. "no."

"no?"

"no."

you can't help but roll your eyes at the stubborn, resolute refusal. "are you sleep talking? be honest."

he huffs out a laugh at that, amused at the back and forth. yet his grip on you never falters one bit. "jus' take the day off."

"so you're sleep talking and going insane. i can't take the day off."

"are you planning on leaving your boyfriend?" he sighs exaggeratedly, "your very lonely boyfriend who's been missing you ever so much? how cruel."

"drama queen. you'll live, i'm sure."

ni-ki doesn't falter one bit, only smirking slightly at your retort. "but what if i don't, hm? what if you're off slogging with your "work" and i die of boredom and with a deficiency of my girlfriend's kisses?"

you manage to turn around in his grasp finally and kiss him before he can continue his tragic monologue. it's a quick peck, and you pull away before he can deepen it and give you a greater distraction.

one that you would find very hard to refuse. mostly because you'd be too breathless to even form coherent words—...you're already distracted thinking of it.

but he can tell. ni-ki has an innate ability to read all your tells—the way your gaze suddenly can't meet his and the way you fidget with his fingers in your hold.

so, of course, he capitalizes on your brief moment of weakness.

with a swift, easy move he has you with your back on the bed, hovering on top of your figure. "... you can take one measly day off, yeah?"

he presses another kiss to the corner of your mouth, but this time it's different—soft, coaxing—before he pulls away just slightly to mumble against your lips. "do it f'me pretty girl, c'mon."

"... can i even say no?"

"nah. was only being nice."

as soon as you can manage to break free from your boyfriend's loving (albeit very tight) embrace, that is.
