i feel like this Could Be Better, but it really helped me climb out of my slump so!!

Yuuri hasspent what feels like an eternity looking at Victor, on screens, on shinyposters on his bedroom, from the corner of his eye at competitions. Yuuri hasspent so much of his time looking at Victor, being inspired by him, studyingevery minor movement he makes that even though he has never met him, he’sconfident he would know him blind, that he would know him by voice alone.

In screensand on paper it’s easy to stare at Victor. It’s easy to indulge himself, andlet his eyes trail through every curve and line that makes Victor up. In personit’s a little harder, a little riskier. Yuuri does it covertly and with hisheart hammering in his chest.

Staringsomeone in the eyes is a dangerous affair. It’s a suspended if that can violently and all-encompassinglychange your life.

Threeseconds is all it takes.

Or atleast, that’s the average time scientists have agreed upon. It might be longer forsome people, shorter for others. The science of soulmates, by virtue of howmetaphysical the entire thing is, could never be an exact one.

It’s stilla mystery, why time stops when you stare your soulmate in the eyes for thefirst time, and it’s an even bigger mystery why time resumes when you either touchthem or walk away from them. It all seems so arbitrary, from the minimum eyecontact time required from the distance you have to walk for time to restart.

It’sterrifying to think about the possibility of a soulmate, so Yuuri tries toavoid eye-contact as much as possible, especiallywith Victor. Not that Victor would ever look at him. Not that there’s anyuniverse in which Victor could be Yuuri’s soulmate. But still, Yuuri avoidsever looking Victor in the eye, because there’s always that little part of hisbrain that is tragically, pityingly hopeful and what if, what if, what if.

Okay but imagine Yuuri retires from competitive figure skating at 27, and he decides to go back to college to become a teacher.

So this boy walks into class sporting the just-rolled-out-of-bed look with the sex hair and the big comfy sweater and the starbucks cup in one hand.

And you know, he’s enjoying his life, he makes friends in his program and on the weekends he helps his husband teach cute little kids how to skate and they have this cozy little house together in a nice neighbourhood. He probably has girls and guys falling for him left and right.

And then one day, Yuuri’s out with his friends, and they’re at a cafe or something.

And a group of girls comes up to them, and they’re all blushing and nudging each other saying “You talk first!”.

So Yuuri just turns this absolutely blinding smile on them and asks, “Autographs?”

The girls squeak, and nod furiously.

“Sure!” he says, reaching out for the notebooks they’re holding out for him to sign.

And about ten minutes later, after several selfies and autographs and a lot of gushing and squealing and “Please let Viktor know we’re looking forward to Yuratchka’s upcoming season,” the girls leave.

So Yuuri turns back to his friends, and they’re all just staring at him with wide eyes and gaping mouths.

Yuuri kinda wonders if there’s something on his face.

The first thing that comes out of anyone’s mouths is, “…who’s Viktor?”

And Yuuri’s kinda confused as he replies, “….my husband?”

“YOU’RE MARRIED!?!?!?!?” his friends all shriek.

Yuuri looks down at his hand to make sure his ring is still there. “Yeah?” he says, holding his hand up.

“I thought that was just a fashion statement!” one of the girls exclaims.

“Why did they want your autograph though?” asks another of his friends, and Yuuri just looks away sheepishly.

“I’m…uh….a retired competitive figure skater?” he asks, his voice going higher with embarrassment. “And I…uh…got 2 golds in the Grand Prix…and 2 golds in Worlds….and maybe a silver in Pyeongchang?”

His voice gets progressively quieter as his face gets even redder.

His friends are staring at him in horror and shocked disbelief now.

And he thinks he might as well get it all out now.

“And…my husband might be the most decorated athlete in figure skating history?”

3City Nights, City Secrets by vaguelyaperson

Summary: In the city-wide Nikiforov criminal empire, the king flaunts his wealth and power with his collection of specialized consorts. These beauties are to be the king’s guards, bedmates, entertainers, slaves, all in one, all for the king’s pleasure. All Yuuri ever wanted to be.

A childhood to adult fic that centers on Yuuri becoming a kick-ass bodyguard/lover for Mafia heir Viktor. I’m so enamored with this fic, the writing, and the obscenely long chapters that warm my Viktuuri heart. Now, these fic is not complete and the chapters are massive so go ahead- subscribe and give the author some slack on updates.

Summary: Omega Yuuri Katsuki makes the ultimate sacrifice to ensure his family’s future is secure and accepts a mating offer from Alpha Victor Nikiforov, the Pakhan of the Saint Petersburg Bratva.

It’s a A/B/O- so of course I love it. Expect a lot of fluff, a very supportive Mafia Boss Viktor, and a little bit of underground intrigue. I especially like Phichit’s role in this fic! This is one of the first fics in the fandom I ever read so of course I will rec this till the end of days. The author has recently started updating again and I’m living for it! So, it you like A/B/O sweetness with some mafia intrigue this fic is definitely Worth It!! [sorry I had too]

A completed Mafia Boss Viktor & former prostitute Yuuri. With just a touch of Sugar Daddy this fic is has a substantial amount angst, but pays off with some cute relationship fluff. This fic features a really interesting family backstory for Viktor && interesting plot points dealing with mafia business!

I am in love with this fic! Yuri is a struggling omega in a Gotham like city (the mafia is EVERYWHERE) just trying to survive && in walks Otabek! At first I thought this was going to a sort-of Sugar Daddy fic, but DebbieslikeOMG is surprising me with this new plot twist in the latest chapter that makes me SUPER EXCITED for a new update! This is mainly a Yuri/Otabek fic, but you do see small bits of Yuuri/Viktor!

Summary: Desperate to save himself from a terrible fate at the hands of the Russian mafia, Shichirou Hirose offers his mate, Yuuri, to the Pakhan Victor Nikiforov... unaware that they're already lovers.

The first part of the this love will make you levitate series. This is A/B/O Mafia AU classic! Viktor is the Pakhan, but Yuuri is no simpering omega! This is a relationship center fic, but the dynamics between the two are steamy, interesting & fresh! <3 <3

Summary: Yuuri was just trying to be a gentleman by walking the red-haired woman home.He hadn't meant to get whisked away by the top members of the Russian Mafia, he definitely hadn't meant to get two of the most powerful men in the world trying to kill him, and he definitely definitely hadn't meant to seduce the pakhan.But now that he's in this mess, he's going to fight to the finish.

On my to-read list. Anything that has both Mafia & Happy Ever After for Viktor and Yuuri in the tags is definitely worth giving a shot!

Summary: Three years after certain events in Barcelona publicized the end of the Katsuki-Nikiforov crime era, Katsuki Yuuri waits out a death sentence in Fuchū prison and Viktor Nikiforov seems to have developed a commitment to running his own business into the ground. Such is not the legacy Katsuki Yuuri wanted--thus, when given the opportunity to escape his execution sentence in return for Nikiforov's orchestrated arrest, Katsuki accepts. In doing so, he invites all manner of troubles onto himself, not the least of which is that Viktor Nikiforov wants him dead, and maybe--maybe--Katsuki Yuuri doesn't want the same for him.

Completed & a fandom Classic.This has been on my to-read list for awhile. But as the author put in their tags: “writing these two in anything but a healthy relationship is actually p upsetting” reading it is a little upsetting to me too. But if lovers to enemies to lovers again is your thing with a Mafia AU backdrop, go for it!

Summary: Viktor Nikiforov was born into this life of violence and crime. As the son of a top-dog in the Russian mafia, there was no other path for him to take, and yet, it doesn't really suit his nature. He seeks an escape, some semblance of a normal life, and in a café on a Wednesday morning, he finds his shred of normality in the form of Yuuri Katsuki. Yuuri Katsuki is a broke college student, struggling to balance grades, finances, and his passion for figure skating. He would consider his life to be rather plain and uninteresting. That is, until a whirlwind of a man by the name of Viktor blows into his life, and he soon finds himself in deeper than he could ever have predicted.

Viktor’s a adorkable murderer and Yuuri is cute&oblivious. Lots of mafia action & darkish Viktor getting the job done. While, Yuuri is just oblivious,lol.

Gigue in St. Petersburg  by   Vik_Mombuchika 

Summary: Viktor Nikiforov, the pakhan in St. Petersburg, didn't fight fate. He danced with it.One night, fate takes the form of a slightly intoxicated young man dancing in the middle of the Emperor, Viktor's favourite nightclub, one of the many trying their fortune by offering themselves to the Living Legend's hands and wishes.Chris Giacometti has seen the scene unfold under his eyes one too many times, and yet, this time it's different, this man is different, and the stakes might be a lot higher than everyone anticipated, for everyone involved.But after all, this is fate, and once more, Viktor Nikiforov will dance with it on the melody of a Duet.

This fic just gives me the feeling of being so.... sophisticated. The storytelling is very noir, with the whole starting at the end bit that I usually find trite but hooks me in instead. Yuuri is sent to kill the Russian Pakhan Viktor, but through all the teasing and flirting ends up falling for him (duh!lol). Great read, && while it’s still not completed the author updates regularly!

Summary: After spending years gaining control of the prison, Victor has gotten bored with his life. Nothing exciting happens when you're on top. But one day, a new face comes into the prison and changes Victor's life completely. A pretty face like his couldn't possibly belong in there...Victor decides to get to the bottom of it, and a love story slowly starts to form in the prison.

Another great one from the KWEEEN!!!! This is one of Sophia’s many WIP and while it doesn’t get as much update love from this prolific writer it’s definitely worth the read& subscribe!! I can’t wait to see where she takes it!

I just found this fic quiet recently and it’s only 3 chapters in at the time of posting but it’s already a promising story! I like the dual POVs between Yuuri & Viktor in the thick of the Mafia dealings vs. Phitchit && Interpol Crew (Celestino, Sara, Seung Lee). So far, Dark Viktor- but he’s very protective & caring of Yuuri.

I'm The Office Slut, Shhh by Bullsfish The title says it all! This fic is so smutty & 🔥🔥 & I can’t get enough of it. Viktor is the alpha boss, Yuuri is the omega employee, throw in some good ole fashioned miscommunication and we’ve got ourselves a FANTASTIC fic! 

Worth It by AnimeFanime One of the first fics I read in the fandom and I’m so glad the writer began updating again. Omega Yuuri sacrifices for this financially needy family by selling himself to the Alpha Pakhan of the Russian Mafia Viktor! Lots good smut, interesting plot, sweet Yuuri& protective Viktor and I love that Phichit is Viktor’s beta assistant! 

My Sanctuary by Sophia96 The KWEEN of Omegaverse fics Sophia96 never fails to deliver. Lots of cute fluff, smut, and this one is a lot more angsty than her others. Lots of omega oppression.

Lessons of Life and Love by MidnightJournalist a Hunt AU where Yuuri is forced to participate, Viktor is a lonely sad sac, and the action during the hunt is awesome! 

All Eyes on Me by Aurum_Auri CAM BOY OMEGAVERSE!!!! AHHHHH! I love this fic. This is filled with so much smut, so much fluff, and some mutual pinning that I thought I was going to die of happiness. 🔥🔥

Panta Rhei by Kashoku One of my top fav omegaverse fics! Cannon AU. Omega Yuuri still bombs the GFP in Sochi, still get drunk && seduces Viktor at the banquet, BUT goes home with no recollection of the night pregnant & with bond bite! This one hits all the right notes. 

Such is Life by dia_dove  DARK DARK DARK! Sometimes, I have to steel myself before I read the next chapter. It’s good, which is why it’s on this list. But you have been warned. 

Yutopia by AnimeFanime a sweet& angstry ABO where Yuuri is an omega cartaker at the Yutopia house for omegas and ice legend Viktor goes to find a mate. They both stil ice skate, and while the omega oppression in this fic is pretty blatant, the main vein of the story is to overcome that! <3 <3 

The Dichotomy of Love by phoenixwaller A Yuri/Otabek that is a relatively new fic. Yuri is running from the new forced omega mating laws in Russia and ends up working as a live-in model for artist Otabek. Only 4 chapters in but this is one to subscribe to! 

I Like Me Better (When I'm With You) by whatsup_buttercup Mpreg. Fashion AU. Yuuri is pregnant && doesn’t remember who is the father! Angsty & almost finished! 

Cherry Blossom Winter by Ars_Matron Dark(ish) omegaverse. Viktor is a Russian Army General conquering a historical Japan. Yuuri is an omega just trying to survive- a little non-con, but definitely a good read. 

Make Me Feel Again by DebbieslikeOMG Yuri/Otabek Mafia AU. Yuri is a struggling omega that doesn’t like to accept help from anyone. Otabek is a new hire for Viktor & Yuuri Nikiforov who takes an interest in the fiery omega. I’m sucker for Mafia, so of course I’m subscibed to this fic! 

Hourglass by Kashoku Arranged Marriage AU(ish). Viktor & Yuuri are matched together by a world-organization that helps keep Alphas& Omega’s reproducing due to the low population numbers. The both still skate, Viktor is still totally smitten with Yuuri & Yuuri is still a mess of nerves. Slowly turning into a “stick it to the oppression” fic && I love it. 

Down the Rabbithole by Aurum_Auri for Nyerus (dragonmist310) a Space AU/Fashion/Model AU where both Viktor & Yuuri are the same rabbit like alien speices. Viktor is a fashion legend, Yuuri (thinks) he’s a nobody model and you’ll have to read it to find out what happens! 

Sweet as Sugar by glowine a Yuri/Yuuri/Viktor fic. Yuuri works in a sugarhouse, designed to help alpha’s during ruts. Viktor brings Yuri in for his first presentation at 19, and things go a little awire. If you’re not sure about the threesom pairing, I get it, but she is planning on a divergent fic with just Yuuri/Viktor in the future. However, I’d give it a chance. Their relationship is super sweet, protective, supportive && just fluffy sometimes <3 <3 

My Name On Your Lips by feelslikefire All time fav Omegaverse fic. It’s a swords&magic AU that hits me in all the feels. If you are a fan of omegaverse and haven’t read this, do it NOW!

Fanfic Writer’s Appreciation Day 2018!!!

I’m so thankful for all the fanfic writers in out there and especially the writer in the Yuri! on Ice Fandom. Here’s a list of some of the fics I’ve read this week & some of my favs all mixed together! (THIS IS BY NO MEANS A COMPREHENSIVE LIST OF ALL THE FICS I THINK ROCK) 

Don’t forget if you’re a fic reader to go and leave an extra comment on your fav stories or drop an ask in the author’s tumblr about how much you appreciate the work that they do! Some of the authors in the fandom are FANTASTIC and I can’t believe that they aren’t paid, professional writers!

Much Ado About Something by @eternalsunshine13 &  Skowronek 

AO3 Summary: By day, Victor Nikiforov is the head of European operations for LearX, a company on the forefront of private space travel. By night, he is makka-baby on Tumblr, a prominent figure in the small but passionate poodle fandom.

By day, Yuuri Katsuki runs F.O.O.L., a subsidiary of Katsuki Enterprises, whose stated goal is to bring LearX down one lawsuit after another. By night, he’s oodlesofpoodles, an active member of the poodle fandom and possibly makka-baby’s biggest fan.

By day, they duke it out in court. By night, they become friends—and maybe something more—as they fall for each other one Tumblr message at a time.

Or: a romantic comedy starring two idiots in love, the Katsuki family, the mothers Nikiforov, the husbands Chulanont-Giacometti, two doggos, six hamsters, one Yurio, and many, many schemes to get our favorite lovebirds together.

I devoured this in one sitting. They were so frustratingly adorable!!!! This fic is a great enemies to lovers filled with poodles, matchmaking Chris & Phichit, and a futuristic Tumblr app that is still the worst. :P 

In Regards to Dynamics by ICanSeeClearlyNow, Oxytreza 

AO3 Summary: In a world where betas ruled, alphas and omegas were treated as less than human. After centuries of prejudice, they rebelled, commandeered a colony ship and left Earth for the Proxima Centauri system, vowing to create a new world where all people, regardless of gender, would be treated equally.

200 years later, a reformed Earth approaches Proxima asking to reestablish contact and to reconcile their worlds. Victor Nikiforov, a popular and successful politician on Proxima, is chosen to lead the mission to Earth and accompany a team from Earth back to Proxima for a scientific exchange.

The team from Earth consists of ordinary people descended from omegas and alphas who chose to remain on Earth. Yuuri Katsuki, a researcher into transporter technology and completely ordinary and unremarkable Earthling (a PhD and excellent service record don't count - shush Phichit!) is both thrilled and terrified at the prospect of meeting the handsome ambassador who has taken the Earth by storm.

I’m a sucker for ABO fics. The history and world-building in this fic fascinated me and gave our boys some interesting backstories.

AO3 Summary: The war was over, and they had lost. The invading army covered Japan in a show of complete dominance. All bowed before them in hopes of being spared. Never be caught alone.Yuuri hadn't meant to catch the attention of the blue eyed alpha.Viktor wasn't going to let him slip away.

ABO FICS FOR THE WIN!!!! This fic is an ABO version of another one of Ars_Matron’s stories Snow in Spring - so if you like the summary but not the A/B/O aspect hit that story up! I think the A/B/O aspect really raises the stakes for this story. Just from reading the summary you think it’s going to be a Dark Viktor, but Ars writes his POV as well so we get his thought process too! This is a great conquering Alpha! Viktor and dancer Omega! Yuuri that you’ve got to stop and read it! 

Hide and Seek by senshoo

AO3 Summary: Thankfully, the walk only took a few moments and soon, Yuuri was juggling both the child and the key while he shouldered his way into the apartment, set the kid down on his secondhand couch, and then sighed, sinking to the floor.

One deep breath.

Maybe two.

And then, it hit him.Holy shit.Did he just kidnap a child?--

Or: The one where Yuuri accidentally becomes a father at twenty three. Oh, and there's still skating.

EKKKKKK!!!!! I love baby Yurio and this fic warms my cold dead heart! Not to mention this fic is HILARIOUS! I’ve literally laughed out loud reading multiple chapters from this fic much to my embarrassment during professional development workshops. It’s just a cute pinning fic with a cute little Yurio and a dash of angst but mostly humor. <3 <3 <3 

Plus: the writer is a consistent updater! 

Can I have some of that, Please? by TheLittleSeven  

AO3 Summary: If there's anything he learned during his mate's pregnancy, it was to never, EVER question a craving of a pregnant person. Ever. Unless he wanted to deal with a crying fit that resulted from him asking the omega why he wanted mango ice cream with siracha and peas topped on it. Pregnant people usually have weird cravings during their pregnancy. Yuuri Katsuki-Nikiforov is no exception.

I stumbled upon this little one shot over the summer and absolutely love it! The writer says this is their first fic and it’s so cute! You’ve probably read the story somewhere on the internet and it fits our sweet boys so much!

AO3 Summary:  This is the story about unconditional love between true mates. When they are destined to be together, there will be nothing standing in their way. Not even language barriers or great distances. As long as they have each other, they will never need anything else.

I couldn’t make a fanfic writer’s appreciation post without including my main writing KWEEN @sophialala1 !!! All of their fics are amazing! Long, fluffy, plot twists, little angsty Viktuuir goodness! Also, they are a dedicated writer and right now going on over a week of daily updates! I’m so thankful they are writing for this fandom and cannot express my gratitude enough!

AO3 Summary:  When Yuri Katsuki is hired as a caretaker for an elite competitive stable owned by Viktor Nikiforov, he knows he's in for trouble with his stunningly handsome new boss. When he makes a major mistake on his first day, he learns just how far Viktor is willing to go to ease his guilty conscience.

HOT HOT HOT!!!! This story is spicy, flaming, sexy, and OMG! I’m pretty sure I have a perpetual nosebleed the ENTIRE chapter. There’s also a lot about horses, which is very lengthy and detailed so I’m sure the writer knows what they’re talking about, lol (bc I know nothing about horses). But I love the chemistry between the dom Vitkor & sub Yuuri and i am on this rollercoaster for good. 

Learning Life & Love (Work) by BellaBear13

AO3 Summary: Yuuri Katsuki gets admitted to the hospital for his anxiety and Viktor Nikiforov becomes his therapist. They fall for each other and develop a prohibited relationship, while dealing with problems and situations along the way. Yuuri befriends another patient, Yuri Plisetsky, where they find friendship in one another and open up about difficulties they have with their mental health and relationships.Together they all learn the meaning of life and love.

I was hesitant to start this fic only because I thought the power balance between Viktor & Yuuri would be skewed bc of the therapist/patient bit. I WAS SO WRONG!!! This fic is beautiful and heart-wrenchingly angsty and you know, a little pinning. The writer takes so good pace with their budding relationship && how they approach Yuuris (&&Viktors) mental illness. I really love this story and it updates consistently on Wednesday. Take a chance, and read this fic! 

Seven Years and Twenty-Four Hours (Work) by Glaucus_Atlanticus

AO3 Summary: A time-traveling shower transports 18 year old Yuuri into the body of his future self—and into the arms of his idol, Victor Nikiforov. Now Yuuri must pretend to be his older self until he can return to his own era. Which would be a lot easier if Victor weren't so attentive. Or so affectionate.But as time goes on, Yuuri finds himself torn between his old life, and a new one that would hand him everything he ever wanted...but at the cost of his real identity.

COMPLETED! So beautiful. The younger time-traveling Yuuri is so heartbreakingly anxious and Victor is just a sad sac without his time-appropriate Yuuri. This is an angsty fic, but such a great read.
