Supposed to be a character spread of my Ultramarine boy, Erdedro Stergo- something something first company, something something veteran whatever…

Anyways he’s down bad for Novia: aide de camp / emissary for Guilliman, there is a tangled web of lore and events that live in my brain that not even I fully comprehend. Biggest thing for her is that she is socially inept (if not doing battle strategy or diplomatic negotiations and reading Carl Marx Corvus Corax ) and grew up sheltered and isolated in the fortress monastery to better serve her role ( to ‘understand’ astartes as guys being dudes to better interpret their wishes when communicating to other mortals in the imperium. )

Their funky dynamic is that he’s her acting bodyguard (she keeps requesting him ) and has been for a long time- so they are ‘friends’. Whatever that looks like between an emotionally unavailable ultramarine and an emotionally naive (she doesn’t understand normal human dynamics very well from her isolated upbringing) 19-20 something year old.

Novia - truly just ‘a girl’ - still reaches for affection and intimacy even if completely naive to the implications of doing shit like prolonged hugging, kissing his cheek, asking him to brush or wash her hair, sitting on his lap, asking ‘assistance’ with other intimate but menial tasks. And then she affectionately regards him as her ‘beloved friend’ and ‘dearest Erdedro’. There is no room for the emperor between them and they do basically everything but kissing on the mouth and full on sex.

Poor Stergo doesn’t have the heart to tell her no or even think to stop himself from indulging her. he sees her like she’s an angel or a princess and is so desperate and down bad, BUT he isn’t going to act on his feelings without possible repercussions from his superior officers. Novia doesn’t know that what she does is tearing Stergo apart, and genuinely cares for him / probably does have romantic feelings and desires for him but can’t really identify it or maybe chooses to not acknowledge them ( likely both).

The withered parchment ( Stergo’s most prized parchment ) says:

I found 3 Aquila on the floor.

Next time we are planetside I would like to get ice cream. I’ve heard it’s good, I’ve never had it.
