I'm sure someone else has already pointed this out, but one thing that I only just noticed on my third playthrough of PLA is that Volo does not use any of his "command" animations during the Giratina phase of his fight.
Like when you're fighting his normal team, he has a smug little hand flip every time one of his pokémon uses an attack. The implication being that that's him directing them to use their move. (I tried to find a gif of it but wasn't able to, so just trust me when I tell you it's also sassy as fuck.)
But as soon as Giratina comes out, Volo does not use that animation ONCE. He just stands behind Giratina for the entire rest of the fight. Not a single command given.
So like... that's clearly an intentional sign that Giratina's there willingly. Volo is not commanding them throughout the battle. Giratina is making their own decisions on which moves to use and when. And maybe that should be obvious given that they're a literal god, but I do find it fascinating that Volo is out here seeking to subjugate Arceus, yet grants Giratina the freedom to conduct themself during what is probably the most important battle of his life.
Anyways I don't know if I have a point to all this, just that all signs point to Volo and Giratina having (at least to some degree) an equal and consensual partnership and I find that fascinating. It's such a crying shame we never got to see it explored in more depth. I'd honestly kill to see more of that.

Ada: An Ophelia trapped in Aisha's Cinderella's story
Tumblr media
⚠️ TW: Mentions of s/a and animal death ⚠️
The manhua Aisha by Zhang Jing, also known as Fajite, has a gorgeous artstyle. It is a dark romantic fairytale based on Cinderella. Unfortunately, I had to drop it. Maybe I'll pick it up again if Ada gets a happy ending. It had an overused trope that I have grown weary of:
The ditzy, flirty female character is either given a tragic fate or is a side character used for comedic relief. The bimbo or coquette character will never be with the man she desires, her love interest instead favoring her intelligent counterpart of natural beauty.
I see it in western media such as Beauty and the Beast, the Bimbettes fawning over Gaston who only has eyes for the natural beauty Belle. It is even present in Princess and the Frog. The movie even does this tiresome trope a bit more justice, not making Lottie a villian and giving Tiana flaws. However, Lottie was still used as comedic relief and didn't get her prince in the end.
I have read up to chapter 65 of Aisha and finished its predecessor, Ayesha’s Secret. Both works so far have failed to do right by this trope, maybe giving Ada a fate worse than death.
In Aisha, Sean is the tall, dark, and handsome stepbrother of two twins, Ada and Aisha Dimech. From the start, Sean has been interested in Aisha when they meet as children, finding it captivating that she likes to read. He doesn't even turn to look at Ada when she tries to speak to him or get his attention. He is only focused on Aisha even though Aisha is cold and standoffish towards him.
Aisha fits the stereotype of a perfect female lead without any flaws, the “not like other girls” girl. She is capable of fending off an attacker, reads for fun, is intelligent, hardly smiles, is cautious of her stepmother, and is emotionally mature. In comparison, Ada is trusting, loves to laugh, and craves attention due to being groomed by her father as a child. Every man in her life from her father to her stepbrothers with the exception of Sean has sexualized her.
Ada is a sweet and kind soul, aiding a homeless man while searching for her missing cat only to be s/a’d and almost killed by him in front of her dead cat whom he killed. She is saved by Sean, further deepening her feelings for him as a way to cope with the horrors that happened to her that night despite readers knowing she will not end up with him since the author has obviously chosen Aisha and Sean as the endgame couple. As of Chapter 62, Ada's only love interest options are her two other stepbrothers, Carlo who is openly a creep towards her and Nemo who secretly lusts for her.
Ada is an Ophelia thrust into a Cinderella story. Like Ophelia, Ada's worth is her beauty, leading to her downfall. It is heartbreaking to see her suffer while still maintaining a smile on her face. She is a side character, but it feels as if she is more involved in the story than her sister. Aisha is mostly an observer in her own story. Currently, Ada is delusional, the spark in her eyes is gone, and appears to be on the verge of madness, similar to Ophelia.
In Hamlet, the Queen says to Ophelia, “And for your part, Ophelia, I do wish That your good beauties be the happy cause of Hamlet’s wildness. So shall I hope your virtues will bring him to his wonted way again. To both your honors.” Ophelia’s beauty is what is important. Ophelia is a tragic character controlled by patriarchal figures. Her fatal flaw was obedience and wanting to be a dutiful daughter. Ada's flaw is the exact same. She was obedient, making her an easier target for her father than her intelligent sister who had no trouble speaking her mind. This also made her an easy target for her stepmother who saw her as a temptress trying to lure her sons and lover astray, so she paid the homeless man to get rid of her.
In Ayesha’s Secret, Ada and Ayesha pretend to be the same person, keeping the fact that the two twin sisters are different people a secret from their stepmother. Ada is naive and her naivety leads to her stepmother killing her with an axe. Ayesha uses her sister's death as a tool to get revenge. Ayesha could have prevented Ada's death since she saw her sister walking into the forest with her stepmother, but did not interfere due to jealousy, her despise of Ada, and being tired of living as half a person. In this version Ada still has this unrequited love for Sean who sees Ada as being "naive to the point of stupidity." At the end of the story, Sean asks Ayesha, "What is your sister's name?" To this Ayesha replies with a smile on her face, "Who cares about that now?"
Ada may end up dead like in Ayesha’s Secret. Then again, being s/a'd is also known as a way to “kill” a person without actually killing them. Oh Sangwoo from the Killing Stalking manhwa is a good example of this, he “died” when his mother s/a’d him. Ada may end up with a creepy stepbrother, or perhaps and maybe hopefully find true happiness away from the house of horrors she currently lives in.
I personally wish for her to heal from her trauma and maybe meet a prince along the way, a dashing young suitor with kind eyes and warm heart who will always look at her like she is a beautiful winter rose like Snow White, the fairytale Ada adores.

Dante is misunderstood a lot by the fandom. Especially in regard to his feelings toward Sparda.
No, he never hated his father. He has stated ans shown his appreciation for Sparda many times. He embodies his soul as he said in DMC3. His father was a hero as he said in Deadly Fortune. He wanted to kill Mundus in the name of his father in DMC1.
Some people took a mistranslated line from dmc3 and blew it out of proportions. That's not Dante, Dante loves and respects his father. Accept that fact

A headcanon I have for Nier Replicant is that after the Ending D, exactly during those three years before the Ending E, Yonah started to swear thanks to Kainé's influence. But it's not that she exactly started swearing with the same normality that Kainé does, but more like she would have no qualms about doing it when she's frustrated or angry.

I've always found it somewhat annoying how, in certain sectors of the fandom, Dante is severely misunderstood by those who, instead of seeing him as the complex character he is, prefer to cling to one specific aspect of his personality and take it to the extreme, ignoring other aspects and adding others he definitely doesn't have.
Devil May Cry has a fairly complex and decently written protagonist, and I find it very sad how even his own "fans" want to downplay that complexity.

A couple of years ago I had a really weird dream where Nier and Yonah from NieR Replicant were Vergil's children, and since then I've had a modern AU where the three of them are a family, along with Nero and that OC I pair with Vergil (who in this AU is the mother of Nero, Nier, and Yonah).
I might share a few things about that AU someday, but it's mostly self-indulgent and full of family comedy XD

Possibly unpopular opinion: In most "Vergil x Reader" fanfics (and some "Vergil x OC"), Vergil is so out of character that sometimes he doesn't even seem like himself, but rather a random character using Vergil's name and appearance.
Just in an effort to make him "hot and sexy," they characterize him in a way that simply doesn't fit him at all. They do everything possible to make him fit that "forty-something man with bad boy vibes" image that many find sexual appealing, even in fanfics where there's no sexual content.
He's often characterized as a toxic and possessive partner capable of overstepping his "girlfriend's" limits and controlling her through intimidation or "indirect" threats, especially in 18+ fanfics.
It's very rare to find a fanfic in which Vergil actually feels like Vergil.

Many people love to ignore that Vergil literally knew nothing about Nero's existence, he didn't consciously abandon Nero, and I highly doubt that if he had known about his existence beforehand he would have been an abusive father (as some people like to "claim").
A friendly reminder: Vergil is not a bad father, he never knew he was a father - and at the last moment he left Nero his most precious possession.

Can I just point out how it makes NO SENSE for Bury the Light to be Vergil's theme song in this show?
The song is SPECIFICALLY ABOUT his story of being split into V and Urizen and then being rejoined. It doesn't fit here, in a story that is basically an alternate telling of DMC3.
Listen to the lyrics. "A phoenix's ash in dark divine." "Two souls once lost, and now they remember." The song is so specific and particular to DMC5s story.
Hell even the Title Bury the Light is SPECIFICALLY ABOUT Vergil's story in DMC5
The light he is burying is V. His inner humanity that he cast aside because there's no coming home.
Without the V/Urizen split, the title actually makes no sense
This show is so embarrassingly wrong on every conceivable level.

I have a little headcanon that Yonah as an adult would be quite tall, around 180 cm, and I base this on the fact that Yonah at 12 years old is taller than Nier was at 16. So, it doesn't seem strange to me to imagine an adult Yonah almost or as tall as her brother XD.
