A partner with depression

Being in a relationship with a man who is battling depression is pretty hard I know.

It's hard to deal with that black veil covering their perception

It's hard to deal with that hole that sucks all the positive feelings away from him and no matter how much you give it always feels like you're not giving enough

It's hard to stay strong while he cries himself to sleep

It's hard to listen to him tell you how miserable he is and how much he wishes he was dead

It's hard to feel that blockage not letting you reach him

But it's worth it

It's worth it when he cracks a genuine smile at you because for one mere moment you helped him realize that he's not alone

It's worth it when he finally lets you touch his scars and you can remind him that he is loved and accepted no matter what

It's worth it when you see his depressive episodes subside because you poured your warmth to melt his walls

It's worth it everytime he says "I love you"

So please stay

Not because you pity him but because you love him

It's gonna be okay.. He's gonna be okay...
