"... I suppose you are correct ... That is all we can do ..."
<Alive Polites>
*Polites stood at the bow of the ship, watching as the water's churning surface was cut through by the wood. He was humming a tune, a happy one, something to simply keep him occupied as they sailed.*
*He had been happy as ever, no, more happy, these past few days. Yet, even if the war was over, he hadn't been sleeping.*
*He could never get a bad feeling out of his chest, and it made his stomach flip with anxiety.*
--- @you-can-r3lax-my-fr3ind
Odysseus stood at the hull of the ship, watching over the crewmen count and rearrange the supplies from last night, while also taking a break from doing so himself. No rush, anyways. He had noticed Polites' happy demeanor, even more happy than usual, so maybe he could use the time to check on him.
As he got closer, however, he could notice the small twinge of fatigue and worry in his expression, slight bags under his friend's eyes. He had always stayed up for a little while during the night to check up on the ship and reflect, so he could tell.
" Polites, my friend! How do you fare? "

"Simply-... The feeling that we are not exactly out of the depths of the sea, yet. Like, something bad will happen despite all we have prevented so far..."

"I do hope they bless us, indeed... Yet, I have a feeling, my friend..."
*Polites' smile turned into a small frown.*

"Sure you haven't, captain,"
*He rolled his eyes softly. Then, once Odysseus said the next sentence, he replied with,*
"Indeed it has been. I am just happy everything has been smooth, so far."

*Polites turned his head, and gave a tired smile,*
"Odysseus! I am quite well, if you consider being alive as such,"
*He lightly laughed, and his eyes beamed.*
"How about you? Not stressing yourself out, I hope...?"

"Perhaps in another world I'm alive... I could've died from different things... Only the Gods know, I suppose."
" Polites? I did not expect to see you interact on these lands as well! Although, I'm not too sure I could call them lands.. they're not entirely physical, but embedded and plastered into what others call the 'digital world'? It still confuses me to wrap my head around it.
And speaking of which, wouldn't it be a best idea to hide your identity from a few strangers? "
- Your connected traveler, Nobody 🏹
From the wording itself, you can clearly tell that the ask was sent by a close friend of you, Polites. Yet.. it sounds more innocent, more enthusiastic, as if it was sent from the day your mortal body last saw him.
(ooc: hopefully this is good! i'm getting back into rping, and i'm sorry if me being odysseus is very cliche)
"Ody? I'm not as surprised of seeing you here, my friend! And, yes, I suppose "digital world" is the words to best describe where we are... Yet, I suggest we don't dwell on it... As to that, I suppose so. But, you know, greeting the world with open arms, '^^!"
*Polites was lying about the fact he wasn't surprised. He was a little, at least, shocked. He was still alive ... And was happy.*

"Polyphemus, the Cyclops. He used his club and-..."
*Polites trailed off, as he finally lowered his arm to his side. He shifted back and forth, putting his weight on one leg, then the other.*

"Hmm ... Quite good, actually! Which, probably doesn't mean much as a compliment from a mortal to a God..."
Hello there

*Polites stared a moment, before he slowly began nodding his head. Regret was in his eyes. He should've never even brought the subject to be questioned...*

*Polites laughed softly, before taking the chalice, and sipping a bit of the liquid.*

"... I visited an old friend not too long ago ... Two, actually. And... It just got me thinking, if you know what I mean,"
*Polites brought a hand up, and traced the stitching of his ghostly bandana.*

Hello small mortal!
How are you, darling?
- ✉️🪽
"Oh? Quite well, I guess, for being dead and all... Wait... Hermes?"
*Polites guessed, almost looking surprised.*
