A PERFECT PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER
DISCLAIMER
RENEE KNIGHT
BOOK REVIEW
ARUNIMA PUNDIR
July 27, 2021
‘A perfect, stunning, psychological thriller’.
Imagine you come across a book which contains your darkest secret and you are the main character of the book. A secret you have told none and had buried deep at the back of your head for the past twenty years, the secret, the series of events which took place years ago are facing you again, looking dead into your eyes. What would you do?
Disclaimer by Renee Knight wrote a perfect psychological thriller which will grip you till the end of the book. ‘Disclaimer’ is my third psychological thriller book and after reading it my interest in this genre has increased even more.Catherine is a talented filmmaker of documentaries and is leading a very happy and contended life with her husband Robert, a very kind, understanding and a loving husband; her son Nicholas who is twenty-five years and has finally moved in his own apartment independently and is having a successful career.
What more can Catherine wish for?
What Catherine dint realise is a book she found on her nightstand when her family was moving into a new apartment from her old one. Catherine dint remember buying any novel at that time, but decides to keep it. While reading the book the disclaimer clearly says that “Any resemblance to person living or dead”. Catherine enjoys reading the first few pages but as she precedes Catherine realises that she is the key character, the main player of the book and only the name has been changed.
After twenty years of keeping a dark secret, a secret not even her husband or her son knew, a secret no one should know except her and the dead one, the secret which she had protected for a long time is now being unravel by a person she dint knew.
There is no author of the book- no reviews. Seems as if she will be the first one to read it.
Stephen Bradstockwho is an old grieving widower is building up a plan to take revenge. He took an early retirement, after his wife died. One day he was going through his wife’s belongings, which he wanted to dispose trying to overcome her death. In one of the purses which was hidden deep inside the closet, contained old photographs, photos of a young women in obscene poses, but the fact what disturbed the old man was that he knew who had taken these pictures.
Stephen further finds a manuscript written by his late dead wife, Nancy, which even tells about the last days of her son, Jonathan, a nineteen-year old who loved travelling and adventures. She also reveals how her son died due to drowning while trying to rescue a little kid. Stephen converts Nancy’s manuscript into a self- published book not for the public but only for a few selected people. The book was a like a lethal weapon which aimed for a specific target only and Stephen knew who was the target and when it should be aimed at that particular person only.
Stephen first sends the book to Catherine along with the photographs. Scared to death that her darkest secret is being exposed she tries to burn the book along with the photographs. Robert catches her and further realises that there is something in that book that bothers Catherine a lot. There are many occasions where Catherine nearly tells Robert everything about her secret but backs up. She cannot force herself to reveal the secret she had kept with herself for twenty years, not all of a sudden. It’s her secret and it her wish to decide whether to keep it or to tell. the
Stephen not knowing the complete story, complete secrets, complete incidents believed in everything written in the manuscript which even Nancy wrote with her own imagination. Stephen burns with rage to take revenge. Robert’s obsession to destroy Catherine’s life makes him believe that even Nancy’s spirit is supporting him in his decisions.
Not quite satisfied by Catherine’s response he further sends the book and the photographs to her husband, Robert. Robert after reading the book and seeing the photographs is horrified, speechless and refuses to listen to Catherine who tries to explain what mentioned in the book is not fully true, but due to jealousy, anger and rage he decides to leave home. He cannot bear to see Catherine in front of her eyes. He is raged by the fact that Catherine had hidden this truth from him for twenty years even when he was her husband and was fully loyal and devoted to their relationship.
But what happens next is an unexpected turn and a very plotted twisty twist. Both the lives of Stephen’s and Catherine’s changes as the real truth slowly unfolds and their relation changes.
Disclaimer by Renee Knight is an obsessive read, a book full of emotions and suspense which will grip you till the end of the book. One will keep on wanting to know, what is the real secret Catherine had been hiding from them.
Hope you will read this amazing book, and this book review turned out to be helpful

Buttering The BUTTER story
Hey guys, so I have recently heard of the new tread post of BTS about the MV Butter. Well, I was just watching some of the Bts memes when something really caught my attention on youtube, BUTTER and it was live. Well, I thought that it must be one of BTS's new songs and they must be singing it live, for me, it was a dep down opportunity since I have never heard them singing live.
Tumblr media
Here I was shouting and calling my parents that ' Yahooooo! Finally! BTS are singing live, I am finally blessed to watch their live performance  'and asked my parents to join me and the moment I clicked on the video....
...........📷
I was wondering that my earplugs were not working, then thought that my comp speakers must have malfunctioned when finally my father told me that it seems like an ASMR of melting butter, which when I heard carefully turned out to be true.
I started wondering what am I supposed to do? I Love BTS with all my heart, love their songs but am I supposed to listen to BUTTER melting which I didn't sign up for.THEN there come the hardcore fans they don't know what's going on but still just want to clunch up the comment section, when I saw the live chat comment section I WAS BEWILDERED, "wow! Oppa what is this?"seriously hear it clearly dear
"Oppa so nice" ;/what's so nice in hearing butter melting, I mean it felt somewhat good but hey you can even ask your mom to do it. Get my mom the Grammys right now.
One of them even mentioned, " Oppa where is this tune coming from?"
Dear Lord help them, they are not your Oppa they are the producers, dear.
Anyway, I do end up hearing it all, my parents really got worried about me since I literally listened till the end for what I am still being taunted by my parents.
The BUTTER MV does turn out to be soothing and good. I am still confused about what is actually happening here but let's just be patient.
I WANT THE OUTCOMES TO BE THE BEST SINCE I ACTUALLY LISTENED TO BUTTER MELTING FOR ONE AND A HALF HOUR
I LISTENED TO BUTTER MELTING FOR ONE AND A HALF HOUR
AISH things I have to do for the love of my fandom
so that sit see you guys soon
stay safe
stay healthy
and
BORAHAE ARMY.
DONT hate me but the only thing which came to my mind was that what's up with melting butter in a pan, hey even I can do it, give me my Grammy now.

The Harrappan Series
Vineet Bajpai
The Harrapan triology by Vineet Bajpai consist of
1. HARAPPA- CURSE OF THE BLOOD RIVER
2. PARLAY- THE GREAT DELUGE
3. KASHI- THE SECRET OF THE BLACK TEMPLE
The Harrapan triology is one of the few rare ones that I have read which kept me up all night and hooked till the end. All the three parts are so engrossing that at no point one feels the story dragging. The books make you travel through the saga of gods and demons, humans and devils, love and ambition from exocrism to gunfights, from tantrics to warriors, from present to history, and from history to mythology, diving into the occult domain. The author beautifully manages to describes his own points of view over the caste system and other social problems and brings forth Indias rich heritage and unmatched culture and the utlimate teaching of the good over evil. The series is written covering timeline of 3700 years in with a powerfull and nail biting conspiracy. If one is enjoys reading fiction, fantasy, thriller, conspiracy, myhology the series is ALL packed IN ONE.
The story revolves around the protaganist VIDYUT and his great grandfather DWARKA SHASTRI who is 108 years old. The story is moving in two timelines of 1700 BCE Harrapa and 2017 Banaras and brings out in an engrossing way how the human facet of hunger for power and dominannce can lead to their ultimate destruction.
The book starts with the introduction of the great Vishvasan Pujari a demigod and a human who is trusted almost as equivalant to gods. As the story proceeds, Vishvasan Pujari gets betrayed by the ones who he trusted the most and then consumes himself for the desire for revenge. The story revolves around how Vishvasan Pujari comes out of his own ashes more stronger and raged after being brutally treated by the people who once saw him as god.
The second books tells us about the grandmaster of the GREAT MATH in Banaras, DWARKA SHASHTRI who is trusted with carrying on with the lineage of Vishvasan Pujari, their secrets and has been protecting the DEVTA himself. The 108 year old is the only family member of Vidyut who survived the THE GREAT PARLAY. Vidyut is the last Devta who has been kept away from Kashi for reason of his past actions due to which the present bloodline is bearing a chilling curse. The nail biting conspiracy and the intricate characters is one of factors which makes the story more interesting and gripping. The survival of the entire humanity and the human race lies in the hands of VIDYUT and only he holds the key of all the secrets.
Will the 25 year old be able to face the Delegue, can he face the NEW WORLD ORDER, what happened in past that his bloodline is still repenting, will he be able to take revenge with what happened to him in past and above all HOW IS VIDYUT himself is related THE GREAT DEMIGOD VISHVASAN PUJARI.
The authors story telling is simple and lucid which is easy to understand for all including children. The books are available in both hardbound and normal cover. The covers are ingenuinely and professionally designed with the title succinitely trying to invite the reader to the book. The font size and the quality of papers and print is good and does not tire one from long reading. The books are reasonably and competetively priced. After reading the books it is for sure that Bajpai has established himself amongst one of the best Indian authors.
