I started reading the Percy Jackson books when I was ten, as they were first coming out. I felt an immediate connection with Annabeth. She was a 12-year-old blonde girl who was tough, and smart, and brave, and a huge nerd. I was a scrawny blonde 5th grader who was smart, and tried to be tough, and tried to be brave, and got a lot of “dumb blonde” jokes lobbed at me. I loved seeing myself in Annabeth. She meant a lot to me growing up - and her character still means a lot to me now, 16 years later.

And. I am so, so excited for Leah Sava Jeffries to play Annabeth Chase. I am so, so excited for Black girls to see themselves in her too; to see themselves portrayed as tough, and smart, and brave, and nerdy. I am so excited for all the kids watching this show to see Annabeth Chase as a Black girl. It meant so much to privileged little me to see a smart blonde girl fight and think and love her way through the world of Percy Jackson and I believe with my whole heart that it means even more to see a smart Black girl do that. Blonde Annabeth was important to me, and so is Black Annabeth. These things are both true.

I hope that Disney and Rick do Leah justice. I am confident that Leah will do justice to Annabeth.

I am so excited for this girl, and I am so excited to see PJO come to life in a way that reflects the heart and soul of the books I grew up with.

i also think the moment you stop cringing at yourself you’ve probably accepted not only the present self but the past self too , you’ve attained self love not only for the present you but the past you too.

the sooner you cringe at who you were, the faster you're growing. if you cringe at yourself a year ago, sure, you're moving forward. if you cringe at yourself a month ago, then we're talking. if you cringe at yourself yesterday, you probably hate yourself, so 4-8 weeks seems to be a healthy span of cringe time.

so if you're cringing at yourself and feeling bummed out that you're not improving and that you're not the kind of person you want to be, don't worry, you're getting there. cringe is good. you're rapidly going through a delevopment funnel and everytime you cringe at your recent pasts self, it means you've hit one of the sides of the funnel, and you move closer to the bottleneck, eventually manifesting a better self. you'll keep cringing and regretting, but it won't hurt as much, and it will barely have any impact

i do, and i always will. but i don't have time or energy to keep up to date with everything my favorite groups do, and i don't want to spend my free time creating content for them because i have to prioritize my own life. i honestly can't handle being emotionally invested in groups and people i will never meet. some people can handle it, but in the long run, i can't. it compromises my mental health and my performance in real life, and i live alone so i have things to do. i just can't afford to lay in bed 6 hours a day reblogging EN- content, and watching videos of people i will never know and having heartache about it. i tried that last year, and it wasn't good for me or my performance in school or my creativity. i love them, but i just can't do it 24/7. so until their next comeback, this is what you get. shitposts :)
