Over The Years - Part 1
Artemis Crock X Reader

Masterlist
“Finally! Another girl. Only God knows we need more around here.” You say as you shake the blondes hand. “I’m Y/N.” She nods as before introducing herself. “Artemis.” The name sounds familiar. Possibly something Wonder Woman has mentioned.
“As in the Greek Goddess?” A soft smile appears across her face. “Something like that.” The rest of the team begins to disperse, heading to do their own things. “What about you? What’s your super cool hero name?” She says in a somewhat sarcastic tone. “I go by DS.” I say as she raises an eyebrow. “DS?.” She repeats, much slower. She stares at me for a few seconds so I give in. “Short for DarkStar, Robin over here thought it’d be a cool name.” I say pointing to small boy. “Hey, not my fault you lost the bet.” He smirks as he folds his arms. “DarkStar?” She repeats my words once again.
“Awful, I know. But It’s just something that got stuck with me for a while and I’ve kept it because I guess you could sort of say I’ve found some sort of comfort in it after having it for so long. I feel like it’s be weird to change it now, you know?” You say as you take a seat on the table behind you. “Doesn’t sound too bad. I like it.” She says not sounding too believable. I pause, staring at her for a few seconds. “Sure.” I say walking off, hearing her footsteps trail behind me. “No, I mean it, it’s great.” She stammers, her words sounding more sincere. “I didn’t say I didn’t believe you, did I?” I respond to which she raises her eyebrows. “Come on dude, I’m not stupid.” “Never said you were.” She groans in response which causes a smile to form on my lips.
“Ready for your first mission?” I ask to which she nods. “I’ve been ready.” ‘I’ve mind linked us all so we can’t be intercepted’ Mganns voice comes through to which Artemis squints, her hand shooting up to her head. “You good?” I turn to her, placing a hand on her arm. She nods, “Yeah, it just feels weird.” She remarks standing up straight, regaining her composure. “You’ll get used to it soon.” You say as she follows you. She doesn’t respond aloud. Her voice comes through inside my head. ‘Yeah I hope so.’
“Artemis! Watch out!” I yell running towards her as someone tries to attack her from behind. Fortunately I’m able to get there in time, and use the rubble from the building to knock him down. “Thanks.” Artemis breathes out as she looks down at the man. ‘Target acquired. Team, move out.’ Kaldurs voice comes through and we go back to the bio-ship.
The silence of mount justice is deafening as we get off the ship. We all say our good nights before heading off to our room. As I’m brushing my teeth a knock on the door pulls my attention. “Come in.” The door is now slightly opened with Artemis peeking in. “Uh, hey Y/N.” She says opening the door. “Oh hey, what’s up?” I ask glancing at the time. Concern clouds my mind as we came back from the mission an hour ago. “I just wanted to thank you for saving me back there Y/N.” A wave of relief rushes over me. “No problem. We’re a team, it’s what we do. We look out for each other.” I respond to which she nods, staring at the floor for a few moments. “Is that all?” I ask grabbing her attention. “Shit sorry yeah. Kinda spaced out. Thank you again though. Seriously.” She says walking back to the door. “Goodnight Artemis.” I say as she goes through. “Goodnight Y/N.” She responds before shutting the door.
“So you’re coming to Gotham Academy?” I ask making sure I heard correctly. “Unfortunately.” She sighs. “Why now though, you’ve been on the team for like 3 months already. I feel like it should’ve been sooner.” I say to which she groans. “I don’t know and to be honest I don’t care. I really don’t wanna go.” She responds as she puts her face in her hands. “If you’re so depressed about getting to spend more time with me you can leave my room.” I say to which she perks up. “You go to Gotham?” She asks taking a seat on my bed. “Yes ma’am. Ever since 3rd grade?” I question, not fully sure. “Actually I think it was 2nd. End of 2nd grade.” I confirm to which she nods. “How is it?” She asks, her elbows on her knees as she leans into her hands. “It’s whatever, strict but the rules are easy to follow. It’s got an extraordinary education, that’s for sure, but since it is built by Bruce Wayne you would have to expect that.” She hums in understanding.
“The people are nice, sure there are some shitty ones here and there but overall much better than other places. Downside is everyone is so smart, can make you feel a bit stupid.” I say as I sit on the chair by my desk. “So what, you’re like a genius then?” She smirks making me laugh. “Oh God no, far from it. I don’t really focus much on school, I just go because I have to. I pass, which is matters.” She nods. “However I guess you’re the genius since you did get into the school.” I say to which she shakes her head. “I didn’t even apply.” “Yeah me too. Hey, at least we’re twinning.” She laughs as she raises her eyebrow at me. “You are so weird.” I smile. “So when’s your first day?” I question to which she groans to. “Tomorrow.” I wince. “That is so sad.” I say to which she just nods in agreement to. “Very.” “Don’t worry though, I’ll give you a tour.” I say to which she thanks me for.
“So over here is the field. Most people just chill out here with friends and stuff, obviously. If you want to do homework go to the library or something cause it’s noisy and you might get a ball to the face if you’re not aware of your surroundings. It’s happened to me multiple times, and it’s not like I was even studying. Anyways her is the-”
Out of the corner of my eye I see Dick running up to us with his phone out. Aware of his plans as he told me the night before, I smile for the photo as he lifts his phone snapping a picture before calling out “We’ll laugh about this someday” as he runs off. “Who was that?” Artemis looks back, trying to find where he ran off to. “Just some freshman.” I respond so which she eyes me suspiciously obviously not believing me. “Which is why you were prepared to smile for the camera?” She asks an eyebrow raised. “Not my fault you’re too slow.” I laugh. “Come on, let me show you your classes.” I continue in attempts to change the subject.
“What a great way to end the year!” Wally cheers as he stretches before speeding off to the kitchen. “I think a new years kiss is needed, right Dick?” I ask not so subtly nodding towards Zatanna. She notices and shakes her head. “Yeah, you’re right Y/N, I agree.” He says before Zatanna chuckles before pulling him in. I smile as I look at Dick melt into the kiss with Zatanna, hearing footsteps approach I turn my head. “Happy New Years Artemis.” I say as she walks up to me. “Happy new years Y/N.” She hesitates before going in for a hug. I welcome it. She holds me tight for a few seconds before slowly releasing her grip on me. “Come with me.” She says as she pulls my hand not really giving me as she drags me to the top of Mount Justice.
“So what are we doing here?” I ask as she nervously smiles. “I wanted to give you something.” She pulls out a book with the words, ‘US’ in bold letters. I open look back at her. A confused smile taking over my features. “I saw the way you helped the kids with their scrap books on the mission. So I thought I’d make one for you. It was meant to be for Christmas but it wasn’t ready yet.” She says as I flip through the pages filled with selfies of us taken at school and a few taken on missions. Some with the team and others just the two of us. There’s a few solo photos of me which I didn’t even know were taken. I keep flipping through the book and find words beside a few images. Some mentioning the date and what was going on the moment they were taken.
‘Y/N before failing her exam.’ With a picture of me and her smiling, my hands wrapped around my stationery as I hold my thumbs up. And the next image is a screenshot from a video I remember quite vividly. Her writing beside the picture saying ‘Y/N after failing her exam.’ With me at the desk looking up Artemis shocked as there’s a 53% circled on the paper. I flip the page to see a picture of me with my face in my hands as there’s books upon books around me. ‘Tutoring Y/N cause she might stay back a year.’ With a sad face drawn beside it. The next image is of me pouting as her hand is in the corner frame waving at me. ‘Justice League forcing Y/N to study by not letting her on a mission.’
Flipping through the pages I see snapshots of our lives together over the past 8 months. I see the way our friendship has bloomed as so obviously shown between our interactions in videos and photos. You can see in our body language, the first photos more separated and shy to the recent ones of us hugging or unable to be separated, even in team photos we were side by side. I continue to flip through them before stopping on a page. A recent one.
‘SHE PASSED!’ It’s a screenshot of a video too, a selfie as I kiss her cheek. That was one of the most stressful days of my life, and that says a lot considering I’m risking my life on the daily. “That was a good day.” Artemis speaks up as she notices my interest in the page. “One of the best days. I can’t believe I not only passed, but with flying colours too.”
“Found it.” The teacher says as she picks up the paper from her desk and walking towards the back in the now empty classroom. “Are you scared?” Artemis asks pointing her phone at me as the teacher puts the exam face down and walks away. I smile nervously as I look down at the paper, scared to flip it and look at the result. “Obviously. It’s the make it or break it. Am I coming with you or am I staying behind?” I say before she puts her hand on mine. “Hey, you studied for this and did your best, so no matter what happens it means nothing.” She says softly, I nod, taking in her words. A silence sits between us for seconds before she speaks again sounding more like usual. “But I know that’s absolutely enough. Now look at it!” Artemis says nervously but unable to contain her excitement as it slips through.
“Okay, okay.” I say as I grab the paper, slowly flipping it as she leans back, attempting to get the result and my face as I look at the front page. My jaw drops. “Oh my God.” I whisper as I slowly turn to her. “What, what is it? I can’t see the paper.” She looks over her phone as I turn the paper towards her. “I GOT 98% I PASSED!” I scream and she instantly cheers, flipping the camera to selfie mode, now on both of us as we scream with excitement. “I knew it! I knew you could do it!” She says and I can’t control myself as I grab her face pulling her face towards me and kissing her cheek. “YOU ARE AMAZING!” I say as I pull away, she smiles unable to speak as I stand up, unable to sit still.
I smile at the image, only now realising how red she was, she’s got this sort of bashful smile on face too. I think I need access to her camera roll cause she’s got all these moments capturing things I didn’t notice. Another perspective of our lives.
I peel my eyes away from the book to look at Artemis. Her eyes already on mine. The moon shined on her so perfectly you could mistake her for the Goddess instead. “This is so beautiful. Thank you. Truly.” I say to which she smiles softly. “You know I’d do anything for you right?” She says, her voice barely above a whisper. “And I’d do the same for you.” She smiles. “I know. But I feel like I haven’t said it or shown you enough, so I wanted to remind you because you mean everything to me Y/N. You’re my best friend.”
“Y/N, it’s been years, you need to tell how you feel.” Dick says as we walk through the gymnasium of the school. “It hasn’t been that long.” You respond as you take a seat on the bleachers. “You met when I was 13, I am turning 19 this year, you guys have been dancing around it for too long.” He takes a seat beside me. You pause as his words sink in, you can remember meeting her like it was yesterday. Everything with her is memorable, it feels fresh, as if it all just happened. You forget that you’ve quite literally grown up with her.
“Okay, but that doesn’t mean I liked her the whole time.” You lean back, laying on the seats behind you. “But you did and I know that.” Dick says as he copies your move. “Thinking she’s pretty and having a crush on her is 2 different things.” You respond, denying his words. “Okay yeah, sure, let’s say you’re right. Maybe not from the day you met, but you can’t lie and say it didn’t take you long before you fell for her. What was it? 6 months.” You sigh in defeat. He’s right.
“I don’t know Dick.” I say as I look towards her, the kids laughing as she struggles make the bracelet. “Dude she’s literally in love with you. Just go for it.” He says following your eyes. As if she has a sixth sense she looks up to you. Smiling as your eyes meet and giving a wave before putting her attention back on the kids. You stare at her for a few more seconds before looking back at Dick. “But what if I lose it all.” “And what if you don’t.” He says on a level that competes with the flash.
“Just trust me Y/N. She’s into you, and I don’t want you to wait too long and lose out on her because you’re perfect for each other. You both know that and everyone around you knows that. And as much as I love Artemis I love you more, and I’m not ready to see your heart get broken if she can’t hold out for you any longer.” He grabs my hands, his relaxed persona no longer there as he now faces me, pleading with me to believe him. I take in his words, gathering my thoughts before looking back at her as she laughs with the kids. “I’d break my own heart if it means not losing her.” He sighs, but nods, understanding my words. “Well then, I hope for all our sakes she tells you how she feels.”

An Idea - Part 1

“I can’t believe her!” Captain Stacy yells in frustration as he slams the front door behind him. “Who?” You ask peeping your head out Gwen’s room. “Spider-Woman, who else gets my dad like this?” Gwen snickers as she walks past you and into the kitchen as her dad glares at her. “That’s not funny, she’s a vigilante, and she leaves a huge mess wherever she goes.” He sighs as he takes a seat at the table. “I’m sure you’ll catch her sir.” You respond in attempts to cheer him up. However, Gwen, enjoying her fathers suffering, keeps the conversation going. “I don’t know why you’re so mad about this Dad, she’s literally doing what you’re doing; helping people and then leaving. Practically doing your job for you.” She sighs as she opens the cupboard looking for snacks.
“She wears a mask, I don’t because I have nothing to hide, she does, and if she doesn’t, why wear a mask?” He asks as I agree with him nodding my head to which Gwen raises her eyebrows at me. “You’re not seriously agreeing with him on this, are you?” She says, scoffing as she pulls a box out and shutting the cupboard. “I do understand what he’s saying.” I say before a cheer comes from George. “Yes! Thank you! See, someone around here sees things clearly.” Gwen rolls her eyes as she goes to fill up a glass of water. “To some degree.” I say, slowly finishing off my sentence.
“Noo, why would you say that Y/N, I thought maybe someone round here would have a chance to go to college.” He says making my eyes widen. “Woww.” I respond dragging out the word as he laughs, Gwen almost spitting out her drink at her Dads response. “That was good, I’ll give you that.” She says walking up to her dad and passing him a cup of coffee. “Low blow to me but I’ll take it.” She says patting his shoulder as he chuckles. “Thank you, thank you. I’ll be here all week.” He responds making Gwen roll her eyes once more. “Come on Y/N.” She says as she grabs the box of snacks and walking past me, pulling me into her room with her and shutting the door behind her.
“Here, catch.” She says as she throws a pack of chocolate to me before opening a large pack of chips and dumping it into a bowl. “Thanks.” I say as I take a piece off the block and throwing it back to her. “So, you never did say where you stand.” Gwen says as she takes a seat on her bed, bowl in hand as she puts a chip in her mouth. “What do you mean?” I ask as I take a seat beside her, also grabbing a chip from the bowl. “About Spider-woman. What are your thoughts on her?” She asks making me laugh.
“So you can tell your dad I’m on your side?” I ask as a large smile takes over her face. “So you are on my side!” She says loud enough for her dad to hear. “Shhh.” I whisper putting my finger to her mouth and looking back at the door to have any indication that he heard Gwen’s words. “Are you trying to have me kicked out and never welcome here again?” I say to which Gwen laughs at my words. “Sorry, sorry. She hates Spider-Woman Dad.” She responds making me shake my head. “You’re a loser.” I say as I get up and move to her desk, grabbing the chocolate bar as I take a seat on the spinning chair.
“So continue, what are your thoughts?” She continues, ignoring my words. “Why? You wanna know if I’m in love with her or something? Or maybe you are; wanting to keep her as the topic for so long.” I tease to which she raises her eyebrows unamused. “Yes, I’m in love, you caught me.” She says sarcastically as she dramatically falls back onto her bed. “Come on, what do you think of her.” She asks as lays back on her elbows.
“What do you mean, like her age and theories and stuff?” I ask leaning forward to grab the bowl from beside her. “Yeah why not.” She says as she sits up, her back against the wall. “Well I think she’s young.” I say to which Gwen cuts me off. “Our age?” She asks straightening her back. “No, maybe someone a bit older, finished high school at the minimum.” I say to which she raises an eyebrow at. “Why do you say that?” She asks as she grabs a pillow and places it in her lap.
“I’d put her in my prayers if she goes to high school or college because I’m already drowning in enough school work, and this girl’s doing that and saving people on the side, as a hobby? I’d honestly feel so bad, I’d do her homework for her.” She laughs at my words. “Do my homework then.” A smile on her lips as she glances at the pile of papers on her desk. “You are hilarious.” I say with a dry laugh to which her smile widens.
“If I was Spider-Woman would you do it?” She asks making me look at her homework once more. “This is how I know you can’t be Spider-Woman, because if you can do all this, hang out with me and Peter, be part of the band and be top of the class, while also being a hero on the side then you’d be psycho.” I say as I roll around her room in the chair. “Well she is a superhero.” She responds, putting emphasis on super. “And on top of that she does have powers”
“But like, how do we even know she has powers though, she could be like Bruce-Wayne, rich and smart. So smart that she’s created a technology to stick to walls or create synthetic webbing, it’s like her own grappler.” I say referring to the uprising trend of creating superhero comics based off animals. “What if her webbing was organic, and she could actually just stick to walls?” She responds making me continue on. “Then she’d have holes in her wrist and I’m sure someone would know then.” I say glancing at Gwen’s wrist. “But then that means she’d have no friends, so I guess that means that you could be Spider-Woman.” I smile as she scoffs. “Rude.” She says crossing her arms. “Guess someone’s not getting answers for their homework tonight.” She smirks as my eyes widen.
“Wait, no, Gwen. I’m sorry.” I say as I stop moving in the chair. “Gwen please, I’m so sorry, you’re friends with everyone, you have so many friends.” I say as I slowly try to scoot the chair closer to the bed. “You could totally be Spider-Woman. You’re as amazing as she her, as wonderful as her, as super as her.” I say as I drop on to floor, as I hold her leg, begging her as she now sits at the edge of the bed. “You’re 100% as beautiful as her.” I say looking up as she raises an eyebrow, trying to contain the smile tugging at her lips as she pushes me off her. “Hell, I know you’re even prettier than her.” I say as I take my seat back in the chair. “Piss off.” She says as she looks away, trying to hide the faint tint of pink in her cheeks. “Love you!” I say adding to the fire, smiling as she groans and pushes her face into pillow.
“I’m sure Spider-woman, wouldn’t even let you do her homework, you can’t even do your own. You’d probably just come and steal them off me.” Her words slightly muffled through her pillow as I laugh. “Well that’s a good thing right? She’s now guaranteed the best results.” I say as she puts her pillow down and I smile wider at her faux smile. “And if I was Spider-Woman, what would you do next?” She asks as she grabs the bowl of chips off the table. “Then you wouldn’t need my help, because you’re so perfect already.” I tease as she rolls her eyes.
“And you forgot that she has super-strength, so her powers are real.” She mentions as I spin around in the chair. “Ah, true, I can’t believe I forgot about that one.” I say as she nods. “So if I was Spider-Woman, first thing I’m doing is throwing you out of this apartment.” She responds making my jaw drop. “You wouldn’t, you love me too much.” I say to which she raises her eyebrows. “And you’re sure about that?” She asks making me place a hand on my heart and lean back in the chair. “That hurt more than a bullet wound.” I say, clenching my fist around my shirt.
“You’ve never even been shot.” She says as I spin around in the chair. “Nothing can hurt more than you breaking my heart Gwen, my love is only for you.” I say as I stop the chair to make a heart with my hands. Her response to that is throwing the unopened pack of Oreos at my head. “Rude.” I say barely dodging the throw. “Sorry, not sorry.” She shrugs as she acts unbothered, the smile on her face saying otherwise.
“What would be something you’d have to do if you were spider-woman?” She looks up from her lap, awaiting my response. “The upside down kiss.” Unable to hide the smile on my face she raises an eyebrow? “The upside down kiss?” She repeats. “Yeah, it’s gotta be done.” I respond before saying something else. “You reckon spider-woman’s done it?” I ask to which she lets out a laugh. “Yeah, maybe. If I ever meet her, I’ll tell her to find you.”
A knock on the door pulls both your attention to the door. “Can I come in?” Her dad asks before Gwen gets up and opens the door for him. “Hey, I’m just letting you girls know I’ve got work in the morning so you might not see me when you wake up. But here’s some cash for dinner, or breakfast.” He says as he looks at the pile of snacks in the room. “Thanks Dad.” Gwen says laughing as she looks back at food. “Thank you.” I reply before Gwen shuts the door. “You hungry?” She asks with a smile on her face as she waves the cash in the air. “Always.” She laughs as she takes a seat on the bed. “Great, come here and let’s see what we can get.” She says patting a place on the bed beside her.

Alive - Part 1
Gwen Stacy x Reader
Tumblr media
Masterlist
Gwen misses you. Not a day goes by where you’re not on her mind. The memories of you bleeding out in her arms flash repeatedly in her head. She lost you almost a year ago and she wasn't feeling any better than the day you left her. Every night she continues to wake up in pools of her own sweat as she jolts up, trying to catch her breath as she looks towards the photo of the two of you on her drawer, thinking of what went wrong, how she could've saved you. The guilt of your death gnaws at her constantly. Like the neverending cycle she seemed to be stuck in after your death, she continues to grab the picture, holding it in her hands as she does every night after each nightmare and stares at you, your smile.
The same one you held on your face as you took your last breaths, trying to be strong for her. Where did it all go wrong? She always seems to forget how it happened, the only part she continuously remembers is you dying. But as the vicious cycle goes and never ends she thinks back to the moments, the blurred lines becoming clear as she’s pulled back to the moment you carelessly throw yourself in front of her while she’s waiting for the pain that never arrives. You stole it from her. You lost your life for something stupid, you lost your life for her. It wasn’t meant to go this way, it wasn’t supposed to be you, what happened to you should’ve happened to her.
She was supposed to take the hit, she was meant to fall down and cry out in pain, not you. You were meant to be the one that finished high school and do something good with your life. She knows what she signs up for when she puts on the mask, the second she puts it on, it’s like signing a contract, understanding what may or may not happen to her. She knows the risk, she accepted the risk. You didn't. You had no idea what you were getting into when she approached you, complimenting the school project you presented to the class, something you thought would be good for vigilantes like Spider-woman. Curious to know more about it, she approached you after the class ended.
Originally, she thought approaching you was one of the best decisions she had ever made. Over the next few weeks you two had become stuck together like glue, having similar interests and hobbies. You both began ditching your own friends at lunch to continue talking with one another. Both of you drawn to each other like a moth to a flame. You were barely seen apart, you walked to classes together, even if you didn’t have the same subject, neither of you cared for being late to your own classes as long as you got to spend another minute with each other.
After school you’d usually stay with her for band practice, doing your homework while she played the drums. When she finished you'd walk together and usually stop at a cafe on the way to her house. Now she avoids taking that route home, preferring to walk an extra 10 minutes in hopes that she isn't haunted with the reminder of you any longer. Her efforts always fail as you never really leave her mind. The first week or so after your death was the most agonising, she seeked for you during school, only to remember what happened because of the constant pitiful looks she received from her peers.
When she hit the third week mark she began to feel something else, something different. Sometimes you’d feel distant, like you’re there, just far away, as if you’ve gone on vacation and she’s just missing you, it was a numb feeling, all she knew was that she missed you and couldn’t feel anything past that. It was a rare feeling to her, foreign, but it had happened a few times, mostly during the first month or 2 after you passed.
By now she had cut off communication with everyone, with her family, friends, band members, peers. Everyone. When she began pulling away her friends noticed and tried to stop her, repeatedly trying to hold onto her, keep her close. But she wouldn’t let them. She kept on distancing herself until they wouldn’t dare speak to her, only giving her a smile in the hallways. Everyone she had known and everything she loved had become nothing to her. All she wanted was you to come back, that was the only thing that could pull her out of this depression she slipped into, or that’s what she thought.
To say meeting other spider-people was a relief is an understatement. It gave her a feeling she hadn’t felt since you, being understood. You listened to her and made her feel heard. You were her support, her lifeline. Things that she had no one to turn to about didn’t exist when you were around. But since you weren’t here, she needed something else, someone else. Like a gift from God she was given not one but 5 people who have been through what she has, and have struggled with the same things. The universe gave her that break that she so desperately needed, she might not have been aware of it at first but she needed it. It got her away from you and what happened to you, now that doesn’t mean you left her mind. You never did, but with the help of the other spiders she didn’t feel so lost anymore, so unsure of what was going to happen.
For the first time in what felt like forever she didn’t feel so suffocated anymore, finally being able to take a breath of fresh air. Like her head has finally come out from underneath the water, the water you pulled her under. She was holding onto something that wasn’t there anymore. She needed to let go or she’d drown too. When you first met her she was under a lot of pressure, only just beginning to understand her abilities. You were her escape, no stress when she was with you, nothing was short of amazing when she was with you. Now, with you gone you seem to add onto the load she’s already got, the freedom you used to give her now being replaced with guilt, anger and sorrow. You can’t give her what she so desperately yearns for, what she craves for. What she needs.
This getaway she had with the other spiders got her through the pain you gave her, now leaving something similar to a bittersweet ending. Way more bitter than sweet, but its progress, she’s getting there slowly, step by step. When she got back home she had landed in a familiar setting, one she hadn’t been in for months but one she’d never forget. The alley she lost you in. Her chest tightens as she looks around, tears stinging her eyes as she looks around, the memories rush to her like it just happened. Her breathing becomes uneven as she feels the ghost of your body in her arms as she sits down where she picked you up to hold you. But her breath catches in her throat when someone grabs a hold of her shoulder.
Another Spider-Man? He takes her to a place he calls the lobby, filled with other spider-people. It’s not too long before the man she now knows as Miguel O’Hara begins to take her on missions. Her latest one was versing the vulture, she did it with ease, with grace, like a ballerina. She takes a deep breath as she looks down making sure everyone is okay. She doesn't get the chance to look too long because someone begins to clap from the sidelines. She turns her head to be greeted with a person she's longed to see for so long, one she's been dying to see. “Y/N?” She whispers as Miguel walks over to you, now standing beside you as you begin to engage in conversation with him. She isn't given the chance to stare a little longer because Jessica begins to call her over.
“I want you to meet a good friend of mine. Y/N.” Jess introduces you to the girl who’s still got her mask on. Her breathing begins to grow laboured the longer she stares at you. The heartache in her chest is stronger than ever as she fights the urge to reach out and touch you as well as cry and break down all at the same time. “Nice to meet you …?” You say, waiting for a name which she doesn't give. “Gwen, she must be tired from that amazing stunt she just pulled.” Jessica speaks for the white spider. Your smile falters for a split second before nodding in understanding. “I hope to see you around Gwen.” You respond before walking off with Miguel, looking back once more in hopes her mask would be off but she’s frozen in the same spot you left her.
“You alright there?” Jess asks as she puts a hand on Gwen's shoulder. “Hmm? What? Oh yeah, I’m good.” She responds as she pulls her eyes from you. “That doesn't sound very reassuring.” She comments with a laugh while Gwen pulls her mask off. “L/N?” Gwen whispers, her eyes moving to Jess. Jess looks from your fading figure in the distance to Gwen. “Yeah, how did you-” She stops mid sentence as she meets Gwen's eyes. “Something happened to her in your universe, didn’t it?” She asks as Gwens eyes go back to you. That can't be you, no way. You died 9 months ago, she saw you die, you died in her arms, she held you until your last breath, she heard your last heartbeat. But somehow, here you are, looking like nothing happened and that you just continued to age and grow in time with her.
“Hey, if you want, I can tell Miguel to do missions without her, avoid her, might make you feel better.” Jess says as she rubs her hand soothingly on her back. “No.” Gwen responds a bit too quickly, but she didn't care, the universe just gave her a second chance, a do over, a way to fix her mistake or prevent it from ever happening again. She wasn’t about to lose it that quickly.

“He said ten o'clock. He did say ten, right?” Kory asks as she paces back and forth. “He said ten.” Connor confirms as he watches Kory pace around. “He'll get here. Eventually. He always does.” Rachel speaks up from beside me. “Hey, did someone order a bus?” Gar asks as we stare at the RV in the distance honking as it approaches us. Looking the front windows I notice Dick and Donna take their seatbelt off before disappearing. I walk over to the door and as Dick opens it hops out, I look behind him and offer a hand to Donna and she whispers a thank you to me before Rachel speaks up again. “Hey, Dick, uh, what is that?” She asks unamused. “That's an RV.” He says looking back and pointing at it. “I figured it'd be way more fun than taking Bruce's Jet.” Dick says as he pats the vehicle behind him. “Why would that be a more fun?” Kory sighs almost whining as she looks for anyone to agree. “Road trip!” Gar yells before running past us and onto the RV leaving us to put his bags in.
“Right, 'cause who would want to fly in the Bat jet?” Rachel asks as goes to take her bags and grab them before her. “Don’t worry, I got them.” I say winking at her as she shakes her head and thanks me before following after Gar. “Alright. Destination San Francisco. Forty-four hours.” Dick says to Kory and I. “Forty-four hours?” Kory whines once more. “Yeah, I know.” Dick says laughing as he closes the storage compartment of the RV. “Okay, fine. But I get to DJ.” She says making me perk up. “You have terrible music taste.” I say laughing as I watch her jaw drop. “I do not!” She yells back at me as I get into the RV and see Rachel, she calls me over and pats the seat next to her on the couch before moving over a bit to give me some more room. “Thanks again for the bags.” She says as I sit down and turning away from Gar and Tim as they continue to talk to each other infront of us. “It’s not problem, I’m pretty strong anyways.” I say flexing my arms in-front of her which makes her cringe and slap my arms away with a laugh.
As it gets closer to night Dick calls out to us. “Do you guys wanna sleep in a motel or do you guys want to sleep in here?” He asks making me shake my head. “If there’s enough room for all of us there’s no point in the motel.” I say back which causes him to stop the RV in a parking lot and walk back to where the rest of us are seated and talking. “Well the couch is a pull out but not enough for 2, there’s a single above that, 2 others on the opposite side and one queen in the back. Don’t worry about Connor because he said he wants to sleep on the roof of the RV. So it’s up to you guys, 2 people will have to take the queen together.” He says as he looks at each of us. “Y/N and I will take it.” Rachel says making my eyes widen. “We will?” I question as I turn my head towards her but she stares at Dick and answers confidently. “We will.” She confirms as Dick nods to the two of us. “Great, we’ll stay here for the night and go grocery shopping in the morning.“ He says as I watch him clap his hands together before going to his bag.
Suddenly Rachel grabs my hand and stands up making me get pulled up with her before she drags me to the back of the RV and opening the door to which it reveals the queen bed. She pulls me in and shuts the door behind me, I look around, it looks like a bedroom, with its own ensuite and walk in wardrobe. The room closed off from the rest of RV giving the two of us privacy. “Holy shit this is nice.” I say as I take a seat on the bed. Rachel taking a seat beside me as she nods. I sprawl out on the bed, the mattress extremely soft and the silk covers have me wrapping myself in the blanket. Rachel laughs at me as gets off the bed and pulls out her phone. “Smile!” She says unable to contain her laughter as she takes the photo. I watch as she smiles at the phone before turning it off and putting it into her back pocket before she grabs her things and walks to door of the bathroom. “I’ll be out in a minute.” She says before shutting the door after her.
I get out of the bathroom and see Rachel laying down on the bed smiling at me as she looks up from her phone and lifts the blanket giving me access to get into the bed quicker. I slide in bed beside her and thank her before pulling the blanket over me. I watch and she leans over me to put her phone on the bedside table before snuggling herself even more into the blanket as she stares at me. “Comfy?” I ask as she smiles up at me. “Very.” She replies as I turnover and put my phone in charge. “Excited to go back?” I ask as I turn back to face her. “I can not wait to get back to my bed.” She says making me raise an eyebrow. “First you’re telling me you don’t like being in the same bed with me? Secondly you’re telling me your bed is comfier than this?” I ask making her making her let out a laugh. “First off you can sleep in my bed at the tower and secondly I’d prefer to be back in the security locked tower instead of a car in the middle of nowhere.” She says making me scoff. “Do you forget you have powers?” I ask making her roll her eyes. “I like the extra protection okay?” She says making me laugh. We continue to talk for a while until deciding we should go to bed at like 3am.
I wake up to Rachel tapping my shoulder gently before whispering to me. “Y/N. Y/N. Wake up. We’re gonna have breakfast.” She says as I slowly open my eyes. “Yeah I just need to think.” I mumble to her. “About what?” She asks as I turn over and close my eyes. “Wait, no Y/N.” She says as she tried to grab my shoulder as I roll. “Y/N wake up.” She says turning me back to her. “I am, see.” I mumble as I slightly open my eyes to look at her. “Cmon, get up.” She says as she pulls my shoulders to sit me up on the bed. I close my eyes as she holds me up. She lets go of me for a second and then I fall onto my back which makes her whine. “Come on Y/N. Please.” She begs as I feel the bed sink beside me. “Pretty please.” She begs as I open my eyes to her leaning on her elbows as she stares at me, her eyes pleading with me to listen to her. “Why do I need to get up so early?” I ask as rubbing my eyes. “Because I don’t wanna hang out with the boys and because your breakfast is going to get cold if you don’t get up.” She says making me sigh before I groan which makes her smile and let out a cheer as I slowly drag myself up and off the bed. “You go eat, don’t wait up for me.” I say to her before closing the bathroom door and begin to play music on my phone as I brush my teeth.
I walk out of bathroom and with my music still playing and I notice on the bed. “How was it?” I ask as I pause the music and walk towards the door. “I haven’t eaten.” She says as she gets up and off the bed. “Why?” I ask as I hold the door open for her. “Waiting for you.” She says as she walks through. “Wait, what? Why’d you wait? I told you not to.” I say sighing as we walk past the boys talking. They all greet us good morning as we walk to a table with 2 plates of pancakes. “Ooo pancakes.” I say as I take a seat, Rachel doin the same from the opposite side the table. “Good morning Y/N.” Dick says looking at me through the rear mirror, Kory saying the same thing as she turns around on her seat and waves at us. “Morning.” I say back putting a fork into the stack of pancakes and taking a bite. I look up at Rachel who’s staring back at me a smile tugging at her lips making me tilt my head. “Do I have something on my face?” I ask as I put a hand on my face trying to feel if I got any food on my face. “No, no. You’re good.” She says smiling at me before taking another pancake.
“Hey Dick!” Rachel calls out to him making me look in his direction. “Yeah?” He asks keeping his eyes on the road. “How long until we arrive at the tower?” She asks from beside me as we watch the boys play monopoly. “We’ll arrive tomorrow night.” He says making my eyes widen. “Tomorrow night?” I repeat after him as he nods. “Yeah, we’re gonna have some fun today.” He says as turns into a parking lot that has a massive sign of a bowling pin. Rachel scoffs from beside me turns to me. “I should warn you that I’m pretty amazing at bowling so don’t be surprised if you lose.” She says smirking at me and standing up as Dick parks the RV. “Wow, okay. I see how it is.” I say scoffing before following after her.
