Recovery is freaking kwel
Just another cool cat from AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) here, the mere age of 23 living a substance free life for the past 4 months. Don’t be deterred if alcohol isn’t your thing. If I’m being real, I knew I was a drug addict before I knew I was an alcoholic, but the big book and YPAA (Young People in AA) have been absolutely vital in my recovery, as I worked through the 12 steps in an honest and willing effort to save my life.
You may be thinking how on Earth is this 23 year old an addict? Or perhaps, you a young person yourself, might be thinking could I be an addict.. this young? Wellll.. here’s what the cold hard truth,
“Several of our crowd, men thirty or less, had been drinking only a few years, but they found themselves as hopeless as those who had been drinking for twenty years. To be gravely affected, one does not necessarily have to drink a long time nor take the quantities some of us have.” (BB pg. 33)
Age doesn’t matter, and if you find that you can’t stop after the first drink/drug and life is unmanageable, if there is a mental obsession and a physical craving, then perhaps finding your way into the doors of an AA or NA (Narcotics Anon) would be worth a shot.
Here, I shall document my adventures through recovery. The highs, the lows. The laughs, the tears. The things no one wants to say our loud, and whatever comes to mind. A place for people to relate and see it works if you work. And ya know, YPAA is pretty cool. Stay tuned as I introduce the world of Tumblr to YPAA is and is all about.
