So the spaceship Red Dwarf has the official dimensions 6 miles (10 km) long, 5 miles (8 km) tall, and 4 miles (6 km) wide with over 2000 levels. Assuming that 50% of the internal volume is taken up by propulsion systems, machinery, and cargo, that leaves 24,000 square miles of space for habitation.

About the same area as the state of West Virginia. Or 8/10 the size of Scotland.
Even with a crew of 11,169, it would feel incredibly empty.

Red Dwarf really is a show of all time
what other show has a guy play himself, his son, his dad, fall in love with his own mother without knowing but then after knowing still persue her, have sex with his female self and give birth to twins because od that, also basically created a new race and became their god

One of the weirdest things that rewired my brain as a teenager is an episode of red dwarf where everyone gets judged by themselves for their worthiness to exist. And Lister rags on himself so hard he gets written out of existence, meanwhile the other characters are judged worthy of existing, just by giving themselves some grace about their failings. And while the whole scenario is played for laughs it really changed the game on how I judged what I have or have not accomplished in my life. Something about how if you don't appreciate how far you've come you'll write yourself out of existence really clicked in there.
