Football: Valencia sack president Anil Murthy after audio leaks of remarks about owner Peter Lim, players
SINGAPORE - Former Singapore diplomat Anil Murthy has been sacked as president of Valencia, the La Liga side announced on Monday (May 30).
Murthy was axed following an audio clip published by Spanish newspaper Super Deporte of the Valencia boss speaking at a work dinner, where he allegedly spoke disparagingly of the club's billionaire owner Peter Lim and described Liverpool and Newcastle - home to two of the Premier League's clubs - as "s***" cities.
He had also threatened to "kill" Valencia's big-name players in the media if they forced an exit.
The 49-year-old had been president of Valencia since July 2017.
The club had initially released a statement earlier this month criticising the leaked audio clip, which was published by Super Deporte on May 16.
Murthy had also responded to the controversy on the same day, calling the leak a "campaign to smear Valencia CF".

Valencia sack president Anil Murthy following leaked audio recordings
Spanish football club Valencia CF have sacked club president Anil Murthy after the release of leaked audio recordings of him describing English cities Liverpool and Newcastle crudely.
In an official statement on Monday (May 30), Valencia said Mr Murthy would cease to be president and employee of the club with immediate effect.
The football club is owned by Singapore billionaire Peter Lim, who bought it in 2014.
Mr Murthy, a former Singapore diplomat, was appointed club president in 2017, taking over from countryman Chan Lay Hoon.
Valencia’s board of directors said that the content of the leaked conversations was the personal view of Mr Murthy and not of the club.
“Valencia CF disassociates itself from his views,” said the statement.
The board also said that it “values the importance of a close relationship” between the club, community, fans, government authorities, media and other stakeholders.
“The board hold(s) the view that a change in leadership is required, in order to regain the trust of the fans and the community and put Valencia CF in a position for success,” it added.
Sean Bai has been appointed as acting director general on an interim basis. Mr Bai, who is also a Singaporean, has been with the club since 2018 and is currently the director of Valencia's youth academy.
“During this interim period, he will primarily oversee the football operations of Valencia CF and report to the board,” the club said in an official statement.
Valencia said they have begun looking for a new club president and will make an announcement in due course.
Meanwhile, Khojama Kalimuddin, a non-executive director of the board, will stand in as the board's president to oversee the club’s administration during this period.

Catholic Archbishop William Goh to become Singapore's first cardinal
VATICAN CITY: Archbishop William Goh, the leader of Singapore's Catholic Church, is among 21 new cardinals to be appointed in August.
Pope Francis announced on Sunday (May 29) that he would appoint the new cardinals, including an Italian leading the Church in Mongolia, again putting his stamp on the future of Catholicism.
Cardinals are second to the Pope in the Church's hierarchy.
Of the 21, 16 are cardinal electors under 80 years old and thus eligible to enter a conclave to elect his successor after his death or resignation.
Archbishop Goh, 64, who is the fourth leader of the Catholic Church in Singapore, is one of the 16 who meets the cut-off age.
Responding to queries from CNA, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Singapore said it was "honoured" to have Archbishop Goh "elevated to the Cardinalate".
The archdiocese added that the archbishop is "deeply humbled" by the new appointment.
"However, Archbishop (Goh) is conscious that this honour and new responsibility conferred on him is also a recognition of the contribution of the faithful in the archdiocese for helping him to build a vibrant, evangelising and missionary church," it said.
Archbishop Goh was ordained a priest in the Archdiocese of Singapore in 1985. He was then appointed as the archbishop in May 2013, taking over from former archbishop Nicholas Chia, who held the top post from 2001 to 2013.
After the Aug 27 ceremony to officially install the 21 new cardinals, known as a consistory, Pope Francis will have appointed about 83 of the some 133 cardinal electors, increasing the possibility his successor will be a man reflecting his position on key issues.
The new electors include Archbishop Giorgio Marengo, an Italian who is currently the Catholic Church's administrator in Mongolia. The country borders China, where the Vatican is trying to improve the situation for Catholics.
Other cardinal electors come from France, Nigeria, Brazil, India, the United States, East Timor, Italy, Ghana and Paraguay.

YouTuber Dee Kosh convicted of offering $2k to boy for sexual services
SINGAPORE - YouTuber Darryl Ian Koshy, better known as Dee Kosh, who offered cash to a boy below 18 for sexual services, was convicted on Monday (May 30).
The 33-year-old pleaded guilty to one charge for the offence and another charge under the Children and Young Persons Act for the attempted sexual exploitation of a young person.
He also pleaded guilty to a charge under the Films Act for making an obscene film. He had filmed himself in 2016 or 2017 engaging in sex acts with a man aged between 23 and 25.
Four other charges will be taken into consideration during his sentencing.
Koshy was asked to attend medical examinations at the Institute of Mental Health before he is sentenced.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Lim Ying Min said that while shooting a video on Feb 14, 2017, Koshy approached a 16-year-old boy who was selling flowers outside Takashimaya department store in Orchard Road for a short chat.
Later that month, he posted a picture of the teen on his social media and asked if anyone knew him. One of the boy’s friends told him about the post and asked if he could share his number with Koshy.
Get tips to grow your investments and career in weekly newsletter Enter your e-mail Sign up By signing up, you agree to our Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions.
The teenager agreed.
Koshy contacted him on WhatsApp and asked for his age. After the boy claimed he was 17, Koshy suggested that the boy work for him and said he would teach the boy about production work, how to take selfies and help him gain confidence.
That captured the teenager’s interest, said DPP Lim.
After finding out that the boy did not have a girlfriend, Koshy initiated a “question game” and the conversation started to involve topics of a sexual nature.
Eventually, Koshy told the boy that he had an “indecent proposal”, before suggesting that they move their conversation to messaging app Snapchat.
Koshy asked what it would take for the teen to allow someone to perform a sex act on him. The boy asked if that someone was male or female, and Koshy replied that it did not matter, since he would be blindfolded and unable to see anything.
Despite the boy saying that the gender mattered, Koshy tried persuading him and added that the act would take no more than 15 minutes.
Koshy eventually told the teen that the person doing the sex act would actually be him. After that, the boy was insistent on not letting Koshy perform a sex act on him.
Koshy offered the boy $400 and when the boy declined, Koshy increased the amount to $800, $1,000 and eventually $2,000.
The boy rejected the offers. The conversation was recorded by his roommate using another handphone before the boy ceased communications with Koshy.
On March 6, 2018, Koshy messaged a 15-year-old boy using his verified Instagram account and asked the boy if he was in school and if he was 15. The victim confirmed his age.
Moving the conversation to messaging service Telegram, Koshy offered the boy $100 to $250 to perform a sex act on him.
DPP Lim said: “(The victim) rejected the offer as he felt that it was wrong. (He) was shocked and initially felt that the accused was joking. However, the accused’s persistence made him realise that the accused was not joking about the sexual offers.”
Over four months, Koshy made four sexual offers to the victim. He also offered to fetch the boy to his house so that the sex act could be performed.
Although the boy did not cease communications with Koshy immediately out of fear of offending him, the boy gradually stopped talking to Koshy. He did not agree to Koshy’s requests for sexual services.
On Aug 15, 2020, a 21-year-old man - not one of Koshy’s prior three targets - posted on his Instagram page that he had been sexually harassed by Koshy. Shortly after, more victims came forward and shared their encounters with the accused on social media.
Koshy was arrested by police officers on Oct 5, 2020, at his home. Thirty-one obscene videos were found in the devices seized.
DPP Lim said none of the victims reported the matter to the police immediately after the incidents but realised they were not the only ones targeted by Koshy after seeing the 21-year-old’s Instagram post.
She added: “They each thought they were the only ones whom the accused offered paid sexual services to and were afraid of the consequences of going against the accused whom they all viewed to be a celebrity with a large following.”
Koshy, who was present in court on Monday, was represented by Mr Johannes Hadi.
Koshy was famous for making parody music videos and for his stand-up comedy.
Accusations against him first made the headlines in 2020.
Then, he had 380,000 followers on his YouTube channel and was known for food reviews on the Night Owl Cinematics (NOC) YouTube channel. He currently has 359,000 followers.
In an earlier statement, NOC had said that all further collaborations with Koshy had been put on hold indefinitely.
Several other companies Koshy had previously worked with, including Huawei, foodpanda and Lenovo, had said their engagements with him had ended.
Power 98 FM, where he used to host weekday night shows, said in 2020 that he had been put on leave. A So Drama! Entertainment spokesman said on Monday that he is no longer working with the station, which is one of the media company’s brands.
For each count of offering cash to a youngster below 18 in exchange for sexual services, he could have been jailed for up to two years and fined.
For the attempted sexual exploitation of a young person, he could have been jailed for up to five years, fined up to $10,000, or both under the Children and Young Persons Act.

Former radio DJ Dee Kosh pleads guilty to sexual offences involving two teenage boys
SINGAPORE: Former radio disc jockey Dee Kosh on Monday (May 30) admitted to sexual offences involving two underaged teenage boys.
The YouTuber, who was named Darryl Ian Koshy in court documents, pleaded guilty to attempting to procure an indecent act from a young person and communicating with a minor to obtain sexual services.
He also pleaded guilty to a third charge of making an obscene film. Another four charges will be considered for sentencing.
The judge ordered Kosh, 33, to undergo a psychiatric examination at the Institute of Mental Health to assess whether he has a paedophilic disorder and his risk of reoffending.
Kosh rose to fame on YouTube and was a presenter on radio station Power 98, a position he held during the offences.
OFFERED VICTIM MONEY FOR SEX Kosh admitted to soliciting paid sexual services from three victims from 2017 to 2020, including the two teenagers. All of the victims' identities are protected by gag orders.
In March 2018, he used his verified Instagram account to message the first underaged victim, identified as A1 in court documents.
A1 told Kosh he was under 16 years old. Kosh then suggested moving their conversation to a Telegram "Secret Chat".
In the Secret Chat, messages could be set to be automatically deleted and Kosh would be notified if a screenshot was taken. The messages could not be forwarded to others.
On this platform, Kosh offered A1 S$100 to S$250 in exchange for sexual services.
A1 was shocked and initially thought Kosh was joking, but the man's persistence made him realise it was not a joke, the court heard.
A1 gradually stopped talking to Kosh after he made another offer of money for sex.
Their conversations took place over four months until June 2018. A1 did not cease communications immediately as he was afraid of offending Kosh.
OFFERED TO TEACH VICTIM ABOUT PRODUCTION Kosh saw the second victim, identified as A2 in court documents, outside Takashimaya on Orchard Road during a video shoot in February 2017.
He approached A2 for a short chat and was later put in touch with him through social media.
They communicated on WhatsApp, with A2 informing Kosh that he was under 18 years old.
Kosh suggested that A2 work for him, offering to teach the boy about production work, how to take selfies and "help create a confident boy", the court heard.

Celtics vs. Heat: Jimmy Butler delivered a masterpiece right when everyone had left Miami for dead
After the Boston Celtics won Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals we had an editorial meeting here at CBS Sports, during which we started to outline content ideas around the Miami Heat's eventual elimination. I didn't get that. We just watched the Celtics come back from a 3-2 deficit to beat the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round. Why were we writing the Heat off?
We weren't alone. Draymond Green flat out said the Warriors were going to play the Celtics. Almost nobody holds the Heat in as high a regard as they deserve to be, but maybe that will change after what we watched on Friday night, when Jimmy Butler and company delivered one of the guttiest victories you'll ever see, 111-103, to stave off elimination and force Game 7 on Sunday in Miami.
If you have other plans for Sunday night, cancel them.
That game is going to be a basketball war.
And if I'm in a basketball war, at this particular moment in time, there aren't very many players, if any at all, that I'd rather have on my side than Butler, whose heroics defied description on Friday. Everyone said he was hurt. Said he couldn't get to the basket the same way. I didn't buy that either. I'm not saying his knee isn't bothering him, but he just wasn't aggressive enough in Games 4 and 5, over which he scored a total of 19 points.
That wasn't a problem with the season on the line. Butler hung 47 points, his playoff career-high, on the Celtics in Game 6. Throw in his four steals, and Butler joins Michael Jordan (1988) as the only two players in history to post two 40-point, four-steal games in the same playoff series (Butler had 41 and four in Miami's Game 1 victory).

Depp, 58, is suing Heard, 36, for $50 million over an op-ed she wrote in The Washington Post in 2018 in which she referred to herself as a public figure representing domestic abuse. (Depp has denied all allegations of abuse.) Heard countersued Depp for $100 million after the actor’s lawyer Adam Waldman called her accusations a hoax.

Johnny Depp: Jury deliberations begin in Amber Heard defamation trial
Jury deliberations in the high-profile defamation battle between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have begun after six weeks of trial in Virginia.
Mr Depp, 58, sued his ex-wife for $50m (£40m) for an article she wrote in which she claims to be an abuse victim. Ms Heard, 36, counter-sued for $100m.
Mr Depp's lawyer asked jurors to "hold Ms Heard accountable for her 'lies'".
Ms Heard's team, in turn, said it was Mr Depp who is a bully and abuser, not to be trusted.
The jury of seven must come to an unanimous decision for a verdict. They began their deliberations shortly after both sides delivered their closing arguments.
Benjamin Rottenborn, a lawyer for Ms Heard, reminded jurors of explicit text messages between Mr Depp and his friends, telling them he wanted to visit harm upon his ex-wife.
"This is a window into the heart and mind of America's favourite pirate," Mr Rottenborn said. "This is the real Johnny Depp."
Mr Depp's lawyer Camille Vasquez, in contrast, called Ms Heard's allegations of abuse "wild, over the top and implausible".
"There is an abuser in this courtroom, but it is not Mr Depp," Ms Vasquez said, replaying an audio recording in which the actress admits to hitting her then-husband.
"Mr Depp experienced persistent verbal, physical and emotional abuse by Ms Heard," she said.
Friday's arguments echoed much of the past six weeks of trial, where both sides presented warring accounts of the former couple's five-year relationship.
Ms Heard and her lawyers told the court of an erratic and cruel Mr Depp, prone to drug and alcohol binges and violent behaviour.
Taking the stand on Thursday, Ms Heard became emotional as she told jurors of the "harassment, the humiliation, the campaign against me that's echoed every single day on social media and now in front of cameras, in this room".
Mr Depp offered a starkly different picture, alleging that Ms Heard was a volatile spouse who abused and demeaned him. On the stand, he told jurors his ex-wife had a "need" for conflict and violence and caused him bodily injury by severing the tip of one of his fingers.
The case stems from a 2018 op-ed written by Ms Heard, in which she described her experience as a "public figure representing domestic abuse".
"I felt the full force of our culture's wrath for women who speak out," she wrote. "I had the rare vantage point of seeing, in real time, how institutions protect men accused of abuse."
On Friday, Ms Vasquez said the article amounted to a lie which had tarnished Mr Depp's reputation - though the piece did not directly name him.
Ms Heard's lawyer, Mr Rottenborn, asked the jury to focus on Ms Heard's words in the story when making their decision.
The case is "not about who's the better spouse," he said. "It's not about whether you think Ms Heard may have been abusive to Mr Depp".
"If you think they were both abusive to each other… then Amber wins," he said. "If Amber was abused even one time, then she wins".
Mr Depp arrived Friday morning greeted by hundreds of screaming fans outside, as had happened most days of the trial.
The celebrity case - broadcast live every day - garnered intense public interest as both actors lobbed serious accusations of emotional, physical and verbal abuse at the other.

Obi-Wan Kenobi review – Ewan McGregor’s fight scenes are genuinely thrilling
The latest Star Wars spin-off from Disney+ sees the Scot put in his best performance as the legendary Jedi in a John Wick-esque caper with marvellous action sequences
Ewan McGregor in episode one of Obi-Wan Kenobi Stuart Heritage Stuart Heritage @stuheritage Fri 27 May 2022 11.17 BST 68 One of the very first scenes of the new Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi shows characters slaving away in the desert, earning a pittance by scraping scraps of meat from a giant, long-dead carcass. This is either a complete coincidence, or someone at Disney+ is a little more self-aware than they should be.
Because, to continue the meat metaphor for a moment, Obi-Wan Kenobi is connective tissue. His two good stories – how he came to train the boy who would be Darth Vader and, later, how Vader killed him – were told decades ago. Chronologically, this new series sits somewhere in the middle. Kenobi left Anakin Skywalker for dead a decade ago and, realistically, it’s another decade before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope.
As such, the Obi-Wan we meet here doesn’t have an awful lot to do. He hacks up meat by day, squabbles with Jawa in the evening, and at night he dreams exclusively in flashbacks from Episodes I-III. It is entirely possible that we could have all got through our days perfectly decently without seeing this chapter of his life.
But such is the way of super-franchises. Post-Lucas Star Wars exists almost exclusively to bulk out thin gruel, joining various dots that didn’t need to be joined, for the delight of a quickly ageing fanbase. And so it is here. Consider this Obi-Wan Kenobi: The Startlingly Unnecessary Years.
The story goes that this series started life as a film. But once The Mandalorian surged out of nowhere, reversing what looked like terminal theatrical decline, the project jumped rails and ended up on TV instead. And, at times, it shows. Especially in the opening episode, scenes drag on for much longer than they need to, bogging themselves down in exposition that could have been chewed through far more elegantly.
However, once Obi-Wan Kenobi starts to build up a bit of momentum, a miraculous thing happens. The series actually starts to justify its own existence. Two episodes of six were released today, so we’re already a third of the way through the entire series, and so far the series seems to be a kind of intergalactic John Wick. Kenobi is on the lam, hunted by a combination of hired mercenaries and Vader’s forces, while trying to protect a young Princess Leia in the process.
Advertisement And when the show leans most heavily into this premise, it works marvellously. Obi-Wan has spent 10 years ignoring his Jedi powers, and as a result all his fight scenes have a smash-mouth tangibility to them. Ewan McGregor spends a lot of these first two episodes punching aliens, and elbowing them in the face, and performing WWE-style clotheslines on their necks. Inevitably the mysticism will return later but, for now, it’s genuinely thrilling to see this weird hybrid part-Jedi, part-Jack Bauer in action.
In the almost 20 years since he last played Obi-Wan, McGregor has also found a way to navigate his biggest flaw; trying to act naturally while wearing the full weight of all Alec Guinness’s mannerisms. In the prequel series they often overwhelmed McGregor’s performance, but here, he wears them lightly, letting some of his natural charisma seep through.
Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor as Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi in 2005’s Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. New Star Wars: how the TV spin-offs became more The Phantom Menace than The Empire Strikes Back Read more It helps that he has a worthy foe too. Reva, played by Moses Ingram, is an Imperial Inquisitor (translation: Jedi hunter) who has hilariously little time for the petty bureaucracy of the Galactic Empire. While her superiors fret and worry about obeying the letter of the law, she’s out there flinging knives at the heads of innocent strangers and threatening to kill entire families. She’s hot-headed and impetuous and carving a straight line towards Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Advertisement Also of note is Kumail Nanjiani, who plays a sort of charming fraudster with a glint that helps to temper the show’s often ponderous tone. It’s the sort of character and performance that would usually deserve its own spin-off, even if it didn’t exist in the world of modern Star Wars, where every single character who ever appears onscreen is all but guaranteed a full series about their origin story.
And that also goes for Obi-Wan Kenobi. Did it need to be made? No. Is its existence a sign of creative exhaustion? Probably. But does it make the best of its thankless job? Happily, yes it does.

Stranger Things season 4, part 1 live stream: Watch online
Stranger Things season 4 debuts on Friday. Here’s how you can watch the long-awaited fourth installment online.
This Friday, seven new episodes of Stranger Things premieres on Netflix. The long-awaited fourth season finally makes its presence felt after a near three-year wait for its arrival, and fans are incredibly excited.
To call Stranger Things one of the biggest shows in the world wouldn’t capture just how big the show actually is. Arguably the biggest show on Netflix of all time, it premiered back in 2016 to rave reviews and it quickly established a passionate base of fans. That fanbase has since grown exponentially, resulting in it becoming one of the most popular shows of this generation.
Netflix plans on making the most of that when the show returns, as the fourth season is split into two parts, with Volume 1 arriving this Friday, May 27, and Volume 2 arriving on Friday, July 1. It goes without saying that audiences will be tuning in to see the next installments, as it’s been too long since we’ve caught up with Eleven, Joyce, Mike, Will, Jonathan, Nancy, Lucas, Max, Dustin, Hopper and Murray.
Speaking of which, if you’re excited to revisit Hawkins and meet all of those familiar faces again, here’s everything you need to know about how to watch Stranger Things 4.

The Stranger Things season 4 soundtrack is wall-to-wall bangers
After a three-year hiatus, the kids with the dodgy haircuts (excuse me: young adults with the dodgy haircuts) are back to experience further torment in Hawkins, Indiana.
The show has had tons of memorable music moments across its run, from David Harbour's Jim Hopper hokily Dad-dancing to Jim Croce's “You Don't Mess Around With Jim” in season two to Peter Gabriel's haunting cover of David Bowie's “Heroes” dropping as Will's (fake) body was being pulled from the lake in season one.
This time around, Netflix and the Duffer Brothers have pulled out all the stops, reportedly dropping $30m on each episode this time out, a large chunk of which, it seems, has gone toward licensing music frum huge artists like the Talking Heads, The Beach Boys and Kate Bush.
Bush's “Running Up That Hill” is definitely the most memorable entry to the Stranger Things season 4 soundtrack, featuring several times for reasons we're unable to get into here because, you know, spoilers. Regardless, it's nice to see one of the best songs ever written (seriously) get some air time in one of the most-watched shows on the planet.
Check out every song on the Stranger Things season 4 soundtrack below (and subscribe to our Stranger Things playlist on Spotify, too).

How to watch Mavericks vs. Warriors: TV channel, NBA live stream info, start time Through 3 Quarters Although the Dallas Mavericks came into the game as underdogs, they're on track to steal the victory from the Golden State Warriors. After three quarters neither squad has the contest in the bag, but the Mavericks lead 70-67. Point guard Luka Doncic has led the way so far for Dallas, as he has 23 points and five assists in addition to five boards. A double-double would be Doncic's third in a row. Golden State hasn't had any offensive standouts so far with all players held to 12 points or fewer. What to Know The Dallas Mavericks may be playing at home again Wednesday, but the experts are forecasting a 4.5-point defeat. They will take on the Golden State Warriors at 7:30 p.m. ET at American Airlines Center. Both teams seek to continue their momentum from their previous wins. Dallas didn't have too much trouble with the Denver Nuggets at home on Monday as they won 103-89. It was another big night for the Mavericks' point guard Luka Doncic, who almost dropped a triple-double on 21 points, 15 dimes, and eight rebounds. Meanwhile, the Miami Heat typically have all the answers at home, but on Monday Golden State proved too difficult a challenge. The Dubs came out on top against the Heat by a score of 115-108. Shooting guard Jordan Poole was the offensive standout of the matchup for the Dubs, shooting 5-for-9 from beyond the arc and finishing with 32 points and five assists. Poole had some trouble finding his footing against the Utah Jazz this past Saturday, so this was a step in the right direction. Dallas is now 19-18 while Golden State sits at 29-7. A pair of defensive stats to keep an eye on: Dallas enters the contest with only 103.9 points allowed per game on average, good for third best in the league. As for the Warriors, they have been holding their opponents to a field goal percentage of 42.60%, which places them first in the league.

Barcelona fight back to advance in Copa del Rey
Champions Barcelona survived an early scare as they fought back to secure a 2-1 win at third-tier side Linares Deportivo in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday that sent them into the Round of 16. Barca made the trip to Andalucia missing several players due to COVID-19 and injuries, but coach Xavi Hernandez still decided to rest some key names for the last-32 tie and they fell behind in the 19th minute to a Hugo Diaz header. Xavi then brought on Frenkie de Jong, Gerard Pique and Ousmane Dembele in the second half, with the French winger equalising with a low long shot that keeper Brimah Razak failed to stop. A few minutes later, young academy striker Ferran Jutgla scored the winner with a cross-shot from the corner of the box after a counter-attack. "I am very happy to help the team, to do what the coach asks me to do," Jutgla told reporters. "They came out very strong, perhaps a little stronger than us." Barca joined Espanyol, Real Sociedad, Valencia, Real Betis, Rayo Vallecano, Mallorca and third-tier Atletico Baleares, who eliminated LaLiga side Celta Vigo with a 2-1 win, as the first clubs to advance into the last-16. Real Madrid face third-tier Alcoyano later on Wednesday and Atletico Madrid host Rayo Majadahonda on Thursday. It was another poor display from Barcelona, who are fifth in the LaLiga standings, 15 points behind leaders Real Madrid. Linares were on top even after Barca made their substitutions after the break and twice hit the bar. They also had a goal disallowed by the referee for a narrow offside that could not be checked because Linares's small stadium could not support the installation of VAR. The big news going into the game was Dani Alves's first appearance following his return to the club after six years. The 38-year-old right back, who started the game as a winger, became on Wednesday the oldest player to feature for Barcelona in a competitive match, surpassing Jose Manuel Pinto by 54 days.

– Alldeles för oprofessionellt, säger experten Hasse Backe i C More.
