Prev I think you fundamentally misunderstand emotional neglect. Giving your children the bare minimum but giving them no support system or anybody to attach to emotionally or express their emotions to in their home can lead to them being closed off and hurt and disconnected. It can make it so when a child is in a dangerous situation they don't think they can tell their parents or that they don't need to care about and express their emotions. It can affect you the same way a lot of trauma can. It's still a failure at parenting
