Day 2 of Battleborn Countdown II:
Favorite Faction: THE ROGUES!!
As much as I adore EVERY faction in this game (& every character really) I just can’t get over how much fun the Rogues are, haha! The whole concept of them is super interesting, and the characters are all unique and lovable in their own ways. LOOOOOVE THIS WEIRD FAMILY <3
[EDIT] WHOOPS, just realized I forgot to detail Orendi's clothes, hahaha. Will have to edit this later! 8'D

(Posting this a little late on Tumblr, WHOOPS; it wasn't late on Twitter, though! LOL) Day 1 of BATTLEBORN COUNTDOWN II! Favorite Battleborn: Shayne (& Aurox, but I'm terrible at drawing him! 8'D) These two were the driving force behind me getting BB, and Shayne is the complete embodiment of everything I wanted to be at her age, lmao! (Hopefully I do better on time the rest of the week than I did on this first day! Hahaha!) LOOOOOVE THIS GAME & THE WHOLE AMAZING COMMUNITY!!

I am glad that you have thus-far had a positive experience with the OW community. That being said, the fact that the OW community as a whole is overall hateful and toxic toward BB is absolutely undeniable. Notice how you can look at every single video uploaded to the BB Youtube channel & they ALL have unnecessary attacks from OW fans (and/or Borderlands-exclusive fans). I realize that their community is much larger, so the mean people are more likely to show up, but the only reason the mentality exists is because it became a joke within the OW community.
I’ve seen a couple people toss out the “BATTLEBORN’S DEVS CALLED OUT OVERWATCH” argument, but it’s time to put that invalid claim to rest.
Battleborn posted a GIF of their character that is a literal embodiment of “Friendly Competition” -- Toby, the cute little penguin who apologizes when he kills enemies and then gives his rivals words of encouragement -- with the text “Come at me, bro”. -- The important fact that is ignored, however, is that they IMMEDIATELY REPLIED TO THE POST with a message tagging OW (& others) stating: “Spring is going to be an EPIC time for the hero-shooter genre! We’re excited to play @PlayOverwatch @Paragon @GoGigantic & many more!“
THAT IS NOT BULLYING, & IS NOT “CALLING SOMEONE OUT”
It was a common form of interaction between major companies, and the playful nature was very clearly stated. OW, in turn, also reacted in a friendly manner.
Why OW fans decided it was an attack or a challenge is totally beyond me, and if that Twitter post truly IS the origin of the OW community’s hatred and disgusting behavior, then the fact that such behavior is coming from a place of total ignorance just makes it all even worse.
The fact of the matter is, virtually every time I mention to someone that “I’ve been playing Battleborn”, I get a snide comment -- and I hear this same exact story from virtually ALL of my BB-playing friends. “You mean ‘the shitty Overwatch’?” -- “People still play that dead game?” -- “Why? Overwatch is so much better!”
Meanwhile, all the BB-players I know who also play OW generally have very normal responses. “Yeah, I play OW & like OW, but I usually just have more fun with BB” <-- This is how people SHOULD react. Other good replies: “Oh? I’ve heard of it but never played it!” -- “It just didn’t catch my attention like OW did” -- “I prefer PvP gameplay, so I like OW more!” -- etc.
Putting people down & attacking their interests as an immediate reaction is just obnoxious and, in any other situation, would not be well-received. Nobody is like “Zelda? Why would you play that? Diablo is WAY better!” or “Monster Hunter? More like ‘shitty Pokemon’!” -- “People still like Sonic? Isn’t that a dead franchise?”
It makes sense that a lot of OW players don’t like playing BB; they’re very different games &, if you want PvP gaming, OW is geared more for it. But going out of your way to drag a game (& its fans) that’s already been hit hard is just totally out of line, and I don’t see how a culture like that can possibly be justified.
I’m not anti-overwatch. I just really hate blizzard kiss-asses who decided that it’s okay for them to bully a much smaller community AND company.
Blizzard is one of the top gaming companies with thousands of workers. Gearbox has like 300 or something. They only have a small dedicated following. Everyone else who buys their games just insults them and treats them like shit to get them to release the next game. Every post they make on social media is littered with unnecessary vile behavior.
Next time you unnecessarily compare Battleborn and Overwatch by beating up Battleborn for no fucking reason, just remember that you’re also contributing to the actual bullying that people participate in when it comes to people who are working on the game.

Echoing this sentiment.
Notice how Overwatch can post things without Battleborn fans getting on and being awful to them. Nobody tells the Blizzard staff to stop making their game. To stop making Overwatch DLC and “JUST MAKE A SEQUEL TO WORLD OF WARCRAFT ALREADY!!! THAT’S THE GAME EVERYONE WANTS!!” So why, then, can’t the same decency be afforded to the Gearbox team?
Game studios don’t exist to serve us. They are not a service industry: they’re a luxury industry. They are creative teams, and their job is to make whatever they want.
I’m sorry Borderlands 3 isn’t out yet, but be thankful they even gave you Borderlands 2. My favorite game didn’t get approved for a sequel for TEN YEARS, only got a sequel after a massive kickstarter, and the studio made nearly a dozen other games inbetween then & now. Studios (game, movie, and otherwise) work on MULTIPLE PROJECTS AT ONCE, and just because a studio is actively working on one game doesn’t mean they aren’t also working on the game you do want.
If Gearbox had never created new series and took creative risks, then Borderlands never would’ve existed in the first place.
They are one of the most unique and stand-out studios in the modern industry because they aren’t afraid to try new art styles, work on weird ideas, and take risks.
Sorry if Battleborn isn’t your style of game, but plenty of people still love it.
I haven’t purchased a new console since the PS2, and yet I bought a PS4 because of Battleborn.
There is nothing wrong with them making the game. Gearbox has every right to continue working on it, and they should not stop just because you say so. STOP verbally assaulting & abusing the creators. It is some of the most pathetic behavior I’ve seen in a long time – WHICH IS SAYING A LOT, CONSIDERING THE CURRENT STATE OF THE WORLD. 8)
