also, i was thinking about movie marketing directed to children tonight and, when you were a kid, did anybody else go see movies to see the jokes you saw in the trailer? not similar jokes, but literally, those jokes? like, did you go see the master of disguise specifically so you could see dana carvey go “turtle, turtle”? 

i remember my friends and i went to see bicentennial man back in ‘99 because we loved robin williams singing “u-g-l-y you ain’t got no alibi you ugly!” in the trailer and then the actual movie didn’t have that scene and we fucking hated the movie because of that. we were cheated out of the only thing we wanted to see
