Stuff kids on tumblr better relearn
1. You are responsible for your own media experience.
2. There is such a thing as a healthy level of avoidance towards topics that make you feel unwell or even (in a real-life clinical definition of the term) trigger you - but you are the one to actively take care of what you view.
3. Avoiding does not mean policing others.
4. You have no right to tell artists to censor themselves - you may criticize what others do, you may dislike it, that’s fine - but actively asking for censorship when you could easily unfollow or block a person just makes you look incompetent in your use of the internet.
5. Do not give people on tumblr or /any/ website the responsibility for your emotional well-being. Because these people do not even know you so no, you have no right to ask them to take care of you.

So, Microsoft is terrible. Yes yes, the oldest claim in the world.
But specifically... I just hate how Windows 10 tries to conflate and confuse web searches with things on one's own computer. The start menu should never do anything related to web-searching, especially if it purports to try to give examples of things that are on my hard drive!
This will make old, computer-illiterate people more malware-vulnerable. You have to maintain a strong distinction between "things that are on this computer (and maybe even included in Windows)" (safe, one hopes, or you already got pwned by it, probably), and "things on the web" (scary, dangerous, not to be trusted at all).
Eroding that barrier in the UI is awful. It just FEELS like a violation every time I start typing into the start bar, and it tries to show me ANYTHING web-related. My computer is NOT just an internet-portal! It has tons of stuff on it, and when I'm interacting with the OS, I ONLY want to see things that are already on here!
If I wanted to see something online, I would go to my browser! All the online stuff should be segregated into the browser!
Specific programs can access the internet; that's fine. But my OS's functions and interface should JUST be about the things that are already on my computer.

Honestly that "garden" wont grow anything edible. Not enough soil to sustain any plant and i bet that none who decided to put that display up know anything about gardening.
Tumblr media
Goddam it, CHAZ. Why is it necessary to have racially designated gardens?

Im guessing that mobile games being a cespool of shitty and abusive business practices might have something do with the generall opinion on mobile games.
GAMERS: How dare those old out of touch people refuse to accept video games as a legitimate expressive art form.
ALSO GAMERS: Any game that’s not on PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo isn’t a real game fuck mobile.

Dont forget about different types of grenades like pressure grenades that generally have plastic or sheetmetal case and whole lot more of explosive material. Those types are desingned to work in closed areas where shrapnel would cause unwanted damage. Those would be closer to hollywood style of bang but there is problem of that preassure grenade is highly inefectife in open areas where the shockwave can disperse freely.
Fragmentation
I’m usually pretty good about suspending my disbelief when watching fiction. But I still get weirdly upset anytime I see a frag grenade used in a TV show or movie. I can’t think of one film that has depicted a grenade properly. They’re actually a very interesting weapon and I don’t know why they avoid this kind of realism. The weapon that hit Tony Stark at the beginning of Iron Man is the closest I’ve seen to getting it right.
Grenades are not explosives.
At least, not how most people may think.
Grenades are explosives in the same way a gun is an explosive. The chemical reaction is used to propel a projectile. And projectiles are the real danger one should be concerned with.
Grenades explode and then send fragments at 5000 feet per second in every direction. For comparison, a bullet from a handgun might fire at 800 to 1400 feet per second. The frag grenade explosion is rather unspectacular. A sharp crack from the high-velocity explosive inside and then a big puff of dark smoke. The explosion itself is only deadly for about a 5-foot radius. You could be one Kristen Chenoweth away and survive that.
But the fragments (sometimes erroneously referred to as shrapnel) are basically tiny shards of death and are lethal up to a 150-foot radius. Not exactly something you can run away from. However, movies always portray grenades as giant fireballs that blow people to bits with an immense shockwave. I’ve seen shows where one grenade will blow up an entire car or structure.
The movies also show people jumping to the ground to evade a grenade. The fragments do not care where you are. You might decrease your chances of a lethal hit by minimizing the exposed surface area of your body, but it can still mess you up or even kill you. If you get hit in your feet, you might not have any feet after that. There isn’t much you can hide behind since the fragments travel so fast they will penetrate most materials. Though the Mythbusters did find jumping on top of a grenade was effective. So skinny Steve Rogers had the right idea.
Personally, I think depicting an expanding sphere filled with tiny bits of death might be cooler than an explosion in a movie. We see explosions all the time. I’ve become desensitized after too many Michael Bay movies. If Hollywood could visualize the way grenades actually work, I think it would actually increase the sense of danger. Possibly build more tension and thus have a bigger feeling of relief if the hero survives.
Or maybe writers just want to be lazy and have heroes dive behind a wooden table that in real life can’t actually stop fragments traveling at 5000 fps.
I think I just figured out why they do this.
Laziness.
Mystery solved.
Never mind.
