I babysat the three year old again today and she made me paint her nails and made me redo it three times and honestly?? Rick painted bossy baby beth’s nails and she was like “you missed a bit” and he was sweating like “I’m trying sweetie but your nails are so fucking tiny. Why don’t you just paint mine instead?? Do whatever. Go ham idc.”

(She also launched herself into such an enthusiastic hug that she hit her head on the wall I love this kid)

I wonder if some of the guilt Rick felt about impersonating Jimmy in "Cryo Mort A Rickver" has to do with him thinking that Jimmy was dead.

Like he understands the pain of losing a child. Like loss in general is really hard. But a parent losing their child is a very specific kind of pain. It's the kind that most parents ever even really consider as a possibility. I remember someone once described it to me as "a defiance of the natural order". A child burrying their parent is a part of life; a parent burrying their child is a defiance of the natural order. No parent ever hopes to outlive their child.

And considering Rick lost his Beth when she was young, he understands that pain. And he knows if he lets it slip that he isn't Jimmy, Doug and Karen will also go through that pain.

This line in particular hits really hard with this perspective:
