Anyone else feel like they’re in a “I have a lack of enthusiasm for this rn” rut with DST?

(This ended up being a rant so you can read it below or just scroll past if you don’t gaf)

Haven’t really cared for the updates we’ve gotten too much, the skilltrees update took way too long (idk why they tried to do a Christmas update when the last time they tried to do that ALSO was rushed and late) which ig I can over look but… controversial take, I just don’t find getting new extremely hard end game bosses with mid loot to be something to look forward to.

I don’t really play DST for its combat. I’ve never beaten any of its end game bosses, and I don’t really have much of an incentive to. I don’t need an ice crystalizer or a polar bearger bin or the varg weapon. They’re cool but not necessary. I don’t want a little robot that can cut down trees when there’s so many cheaper, easier options (one of them being just pick Maxwell) to achieve the same effect.

And also the new story bits are kinda lacking too. All the new lore we got was essentially that Wagstaff is evil and doesn’t care about the survivors outside of what he can do for them and the moon hates him. Great we already knew that. We’ve known that forever. Now he’s been taken away which is cool but. Idk I don’t care? Why did I wait nearly 6 months for that?

Also like, the WHOLE point of this new established update schedule of less updates but more substance within each update was so that Klei wouldn’t have to rush out content and could make updates something more engaging. I don’t see that reflected in this year’s update cycle so far. I’m not really interested in anything they’ve released, INCLUDING the shorts and most of the skins.

The intermissions started so strong and the last we got was more of a teaser trailer than anything actually interesting. And don’t get me started on the quotes.

Even going in to read the survivors quotes feels more like a chore, because even characters who should have more “lore-y” quotes just don’t. Winona REALLY doesn’t have anything interesting to say about her boss? Bro he just died in front of your eyes. You didn’t have a comment about how he just let you fight his war machine? WX???

Honestly it just feels like they dropped the last major update to be able to drop the skins sets so people could buy them. Probably more so for the speedrunners and boss rushers.

Idk. I just feel let down. I haven’t really been active in this fandom partially due to having irl responsibilities but also because I honestly don’t find anything we’ve gotten since Halloween 2024 to be fun. It’s sad bc I have so many hours invested into this game, and I really do love the series but it’s all just new bosses and new armour and new weapons and here’s a 30 dollar skin pack btw!!!

Anyways sorry I try not to rant too much I like to just post my art and reblog other’s art but I just had to get it off my chest. I might delete this later but I just felt it was important because I’ve been so disengaged.

Wanda sleeps against the wall so she doesn't fall out of bed in her sleep and so it's easier for Wickerbottom to get up in the middle of the night and walk around the house (she sleeps but only for about two hours a day, sometimes even four hours if she's REALLY tired), the blankets are separate because SOMEONE likes to throw her legs over SOMEONE and take the whole blanket. Closer to the morning Wickerbottom usually makes herself some tea and just sits next to Wanda to whom Potato (their cat) also comes to knead the blanket with her paws, and waits for her to wake up. Wicker can gently touch Wanda's hair, but not her hands, so as not to wake her up!

I think they have a special picture that hangs in every room like Bert and Ernie……

ok now serious talk, i am certain that maxwell got a new model and its obvious by the comparison. (the face angles are also the same)

and the "new" model is missing his rose so its best to assume it was a last minute decision but it just might've been their best one to make. his face is slimmer and less unnecessarily angular. and his chin is way better. his eyebrows also changed as well every other proportion. new hairline too if you look at it.

i hope thet they keep this "new" model because its a LOT more like Maxwell.
