Hello! I’ve seen some of your drawings recently and noticed they all are simplified, I wanted to ask how do you know what to simplify and what not to? If you do answer this then thank you! :D

Basically I think just drawing a lot and trying to draw stuff as it is from real life or from reference and THEN drawing it again and stylizing it would be a good way to practice if u want. Like break it down into shapes! I try to think about the 3d forms even in more simplified art styles. With human bodies its kinda like more complicated because in that case to know what to simplify u just need to do a lot of figure drawing and it helps to understand the anatomy and stuff, which was very intimidating for me but i really enjoy it now!

the way I know what to simplify is from experimenting! try different things, exaggerate different shapes, and practice fundamentals!!!! And also take care of urself because thats more important than any of that!

Another thing that I recommend is looking at artists u like and their work. How did they simplify forms? What shapes did they use? You can also study their work and something i like to do is copy it in my sketchbook and write down whose art it is (so i dont forget) and that helps me understand a bit more even though my copy is always not as good as the art im studying (which is totally fine! Because they have their own developed style that you cant just immediately pick up and thats also not the goal!)
