My favorite photos from Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico. After just walking into the cave, you enter this enormous cavern. You make your way around the edge, and finally turn back to see where you came from, and the view is just gorgeous. The light coming in just creates this beautiful blue glow while the cave lights give off the warm contrast. Okay when I say this shoot was one of my favorite shoots of all time, y'all will probably laugh and say " You say that about every shoot!" Well, I do, I can't lie. However, this shoot ended up being totally different than what was planned. It was raining hard that day, and I had just wrapped a previous shoot that afternoon, and it was sunny then, but when 5pm rolled around, that storm just came pouring down! We show up to a small alley, and I tell Mackenzie to meet me at a parking garage nearby. What happened after that, turned into an absolutely incredible shoot. There's something charming about seeing buildings on a hillside or mountainside. Seeing the layers of doors, windows and roofs slowly higher than the previous layer. It gives such great visual depth. I think that's my architectural instruction speaking, but so much can apply to photography. This mural is a favorite of mine, the mix of graffiti art and homage to Michelangelos God and Man are just a beautiful composition. I've taken several shoots there because it makes such a great backdrop, and it's hidden, so less onlookers.
