Ecommerce - Part 3
what is ‘retouching’? is a tool that you use to go over someone skin to smooth or go over spots.
what is the ‘pen tool’? creates vector paths that can be converted into selections.
what is the ‘clone stamp tool?’ is where you select a part that you don't want and replace them with another part of the image.
what is the ‘spot healing brush tool’? is where you get rid of marks, dust and things that are I the photo that you don't want.
what is the ‘patch tool’? is where you can remove parts of your image that you don't want.
what is ‘liquify’? Allows you to push, pull. rotate, reflect, pucker and bloat the pixels of the image.
in this stage of the process of my Ecommerce image, so the first thing I did was look at the white balance tool, because the image wasn't that white, so I selected the most white part of the image. I knew this because I was look at the tool on the top right that tells me if it is around 225 then t is at the right amount.

The next stage I did was the spot healing tool, this was getting rid of all the marks and dust that you can see all over the image. This makes the image more sharp and clean.

The next stage is to straighten up the image by using the straighten tool. To do this you draw a straight line on the straight line at the back of the image. This makes the whole image more straighten.

Then the next stage of the image I used the sharpening tool to make the image more sharp and crisp when editing the image.

The next stage I started to use the exposure tool to get the right exposure on the whole image to make the image more brighter and sharp.

Then I went on the settings on the side, I changed the exposure to 55, then I put the contrast 7, the highlights to 7, Then shadows to 5, Then the whites to 3 and the blacks to 4. This slightly changed the image to make it more better and sharp.

This Is the final image off my Ecommerce image.

Experimental photography

David Hockney
His photography work is a college of photographs that are overplayed by each other. This photograph is inspired by him and how he did his work. When he first started he got different Polaroid and put them together like a college. So this photograph I have found is inspired by how he does his photography work. I am going to try and do this for an experiment of the image. I am going to get a front facing portrait and then go into photoshop and keep overlaying different parts of the image.

Andres Gallardo Albajar
He creates his double exposures in camera. He shot this series, The Ghosts That Carried Us Away in Frankfurt, Germany, capturing people as they rode up a long escalator. As he does his photography work I'm going to be trying to do the double exposure on photoshop. To get the same effect Im gong to be using portraits that I did in the studio to be like his images and his work.

Inspired image by David Hockney
I was inspired by his photography work. To create this image I went into the studio and set up a soft box on setting three pointing straight at my model. Then I used a black background to create a low key photography. To take these images I put my camera settings on ISO 100, I put the aperture on F/5.6 to get the correct exposure to get the perfect portrait. Then I put the shutter speed to 1/125 then put the focal length to 55 mm so then the models face is not distorted.
Then I printed the portrait photograph onto A4 paper. To create this image I went onto photoshop and changed the image to back and white like David Hockney did and changed it to contrast and brightness to give it strong sharp photograph and then I started to cut out strips of the A4 Image into equal sections. Then I started to mix up the sections like David Hockney did. So then I mixed up the image and laid them out. Then After that I took another photo of the image after it was all laid out in a random order. Then I had the final photograph, I went into photoshop once more and changed the contrast and highlights and shadows to get the image like David Hockney.
The conclusion I think that this came out very successful on the experimental image which I was inspired by David Hockney. I also tried to keep the same method that he does and what he did ti make this photography.
if I was going to retake these images I would try a different focal length, so I would try a larger focal length to make it look more like David Hockney images. I would also try and do the editing of the strips and mixed up on photoshop to make it neat and like Davids work and more Smooth.

Ecommerce - part 2

These are my examples of Ecommerce photography. To do this I got a object to take a photograph of. I took a photo of a perfume bottle. To do this I was in the studio. To get the plane background and studio lights.
To do this I started to set up the studio ready to take my Ecommerce photography. I used a box light and two a soft umbrella. I used these aquitment because when using a box light and soft umbrella togther it so it made the lighting of the photograph more softer. Also used a light reflecting from the top this means that it took away the shadows of the product that I was photographing. I also set my camera on a tripod so then I could keep the camera still and get a sharp photograph of the product I am photographing. I also zoomed my camera in to get the perfect angle. I set my camera to 55mm to get the perfect angle of the Ecommerce photography.
To take these photographs I set my camera settings at ISO 100 because this is the lowest sensitivity, shutter speed at 1/125 seconds this means that I am letting more light into the photography and use the three studio light that you can see in the image to get the perfect lighting. I also set the aperture on my camera to f/11 to get everything in the photo in focus. This means I could get a large depth of field in the photography.
I think my Ecommerce photographs were very successful. Because of the composition of the image and the lighting of the whole photograph. I think that it shows the product I am photographing very bright and makes it stand out. I also like how I got a different point of view of the product. So I got a side of the product and the front view of the product. I also used the healing brush tool to make everything more brighter and even. Then I brought the brightness up slightly to make the photography a tiny bit brighter. I also cropped it a tiny bit to just get it central to get the right composition in the photography. Next time I try this out again I will changed the settings on my camera to show what it will look like with the different settings on the camera. So I will changed the aperture to see what happens with the lighting on the camera.

He started doing photography since he was 6. This photograph is all about models posing for magazines with different background and colour. I found that he pupblisb a magazine in 2011 so the time events are very resents and the photography was in colour. The materials the he used to do this photography was colour, digital. She is a American photographer. She does black and white photography which where meant for subvert the stereotypes of women in media. She was born in January 19 1954. This means she was focusing on the stereotypes of women in the media at this time, for example magazines and television. Because in this time women are looking up to women in magazines and what to look like. So that’s what her photography is based on. She did her photography in black and white because they didn’t have colour photography then.

Low key lighting photography- File management - Editing skills
In these images i was focusing on editing these images, so putting them in black and white, changing the contrast and brightness to bring out the contrast in the shadows. Also used the adjustment tool. To do this I went into Adobe bridge to edit these imag.
In the first image and the second image I am showing you one in colour and one in black and white. In the first image I changed the contacts to make the shadows have a stronger contrast with the bright and dark in the image. To do this I used the adjustment tool so I selected a certain part of the image and painted over it and then changed the settings to get the contrast of the image. So it makes the colour and tone. Also effects the brightness and exposure of the image. I also changed the contrast to 45 to bring out a strong contrast throughout the photograph. Then lowered the birghtness so then the split lighting it equal and shows that one side is brighter then the other side of the image. I was also focusing on split lighting in the sixth image. Also the fifth image.
Then in my second image I changed it to black and white to give it a different aspect to it. So I went onto Abobe Bridge and I firstly changed the whole photograph into black and white. Then I pressed on the adujusment tool and changed the contrast and tone of the whole image. I put the contrast up to 35 to give the split lighting a contrast and show the dark and light in the photograph. Then I brought down the birghtness to bring the contrast more sharp because it is in back and white.
In my third image I also changed it into black and white. So I went onto Abobe bridge like I did for the first and second images I edited. So I changed the whole image to black and white to show the split lighting a different aspect and contrast. Then I changed the contrast to 35 to give the whole image a contrast in the lighting on the models face. Then put the brightness to -10 to make it less bright so then there is a strong look to the whole of the photograph when someone’s is looking at it.
In my fourth image I was focusing on broad lighting. I did this by using a soft box light to the right of me. Then pointing it towards me. By using a soft box and not a snoot this means there are less shadows on the models face. I also used a gold reflector to the left of the model this create a golden tone on the skin. In this image I tried the rule of thirds.
To take this images my camera settings were set at aperture f/5.6, ISO 100 also shutter speed 1/125 and focal length 95.00mm.
I think that management is important because it tells someone how you did the photograph. So then someone is looking at your photography work knows how you edited it and what you was thinking when you took the image. Also describes from the image file from the moment we begin to download them and from our memory card or camera. It is also important to save your photos as a JEPEG And RAW Photograph because then you use raw for your editing photographs and you have a other photograph to see what your photographs look like before and after. Also DPI stands for Dots per inch. So if you want a photograph in 300dpi. You use this when you are printing your images. So it is intended print size.
Questions
1. How did you find this task? I found this task very easy and fun.
3. Was it difficult to create the sets up? No it wasn’t difficult because I already knew what I was going to do in the studio.
4 . What method did you enjoy the most? I really enjoyed doing the split lighting because I really liked taking the images and I found it fun and easy.
5. With method got you the best result? The best method I got was split lighting.
6. Was the primary research or secondary research? What did you learn from your research? First we did research on google to learn about the different techniques we had to do. Then we knew what we wanted to do and went to the studio and set up.

Low key studio light photography
In today’s lesson we did studio light photography. These lighting are Rembrandts lighting, split lighting, butterfly lighting, loop lighting, broad lighting. The main wains I focused on in this task when taking the images was split lighting.
In the first image this is split lighting because one side of the face is brighter and has more light so then on the other side of the models Face is darker this shows shadows. So this means there is a strong shadow through out the photograph. To take this photograph I set my camera, a snoot and a soft box to get the strong split lighting on the models face. I also went into photoshop and changed my pictures into black and white to give it a different aspect to the whole photograph. I also changed the contrast and brightness, I brought down the brightness to -10and brought up the contrast to 20 to give the whole photograph a strong contrast between light and dark. The third image is also an example of split lightinging I did the same settings and editing in this image. But just didn’t put it in black and white.
In the second image this also was split lighting because the model has shadows on one side of her face and then the other said is darker. To get the patter on the models face, I got a piece of paper with lines on them and I got someone to hold them for me in front of the snoot and by doing this it created lines on the models face. Then I went onto photoshop and changed the photograph into black and white to give a strong shadow and contrast on the models face. To take these photographs my camera settings were aperture f5.6, shutter speed 1/125 and ISO 100 to takes these studio lighting photographs. Also third photograph is an example of split lighting and did the same settings to get this photograph. Also in the fourth image I was focusing on split lighting and broad lighting I used the same settings to get this photograph.

High key lighting techniques
Low key lighting shows off fewer shadows within the whole photograph and makes the subject look softer in the image. The lighting set up for a high key photograph includes a white background with four sources of light. These include two background lights that are behind the model, as well as a fill light and the key light which are both pointing towards the model when taking the photograph.

Low key lighting techniques
Low key lighting shows shadows on the model however the photographer uses reflector or a fill light illuminate the shadows areas and control the contrast within the photograph. The lighting set up for a low key photograph consists of using black background and a soft box light source with is in front of the model pointing towards them. You may also use a snoot with has a narrower source of light and makes shadows and a harsher contrast within in the image.

Split lighting
split lighting is used for studio portraits, When taking the image it communicates a drama in the whole of the photograph and the portrait. This from a split of lighting, so one face is lighter than the other side of the face. This forms a contrast between the whole of the image. also the lighting on the model face is evenly divided over the photograph.

Butterfly lighting
Butterfly lighting is a portrait lighting pattern where the key light is placed above and directly centered with a subject's face to get a sharp and clear photograph. This also creates a shadow under the nose that resembles a butterfly, so this makes the whole photograph clear and sharp for a portrait photograph.

Loop lighting
Loop lighting is an essential lighting technique for portrait photographers. It is easy to create with just a single lightsource and is flattering on most subjects. Also loop lighting patter is created by using a light source just to the side also pointed downwards to the model to get the perfect loop lighting.

Broad lighting
The Broad Lightsetup, The side that is getting the most light is the side turning towards the camera. This setup is less commonly used for portraits as it tends to make people look chubby. This also makes shadows in the image to get a different aspects of a portrait photograph when using the broad lighting.

Ecommerce
What is ‘Ecommerce?’ Ecommerce stands for Electronic and Commercial. So it is showing different types of photography when looking online and at different commercials on electronics.
Where would you find ‘Ecommerce’ images? You would find them on all different websites when you are shopping online. For example prettylittlething, boohoo and Topshop all have Ecommerce images because every single shop is trying to sell there objects i.e. clothing, food etc.
What are the characteristics of Ecommerce photography? They are when they have a plan background i.e. white and grey. This focus us on the products not anything else when you are looking at it online. So there is no distractions also when you look online the shop normally has a theme or being more consistent of the products because they all will have the same colour background. This helps us realise what the product is like when seeing at all different angles when looking online. There is different ways to take Ecommerce photography for example flat lay or straight perspective
What equipment is often used to capture Ecommerce photography? When taking Ecommerce photography they normally use high key lighting to capture the products and the detail, they also use a plane background so it is more focused on the product, they also use a camera and sometimes a tripod to get a focused and capture all the detail of the products they are selling online to capture the eye when someone is looking at the products to buy.
What are common studio sets up for Ecommerce photography? Normally a studio set up for an Ecommerce photography will be a plane background so the product stands out. They use a DSLR camera and a tripod to get a clear and sharp photograph when modelling the product. Also have a large depth of field to get everything in focus. They also use 24-70mm lens to take the image of Ecommerce. They also shoot at f11 or above.
What common editing techniques are used in the retouching process of Ecommerce photography? The most common is using tools to make the photograph smooth or the product that is been modelling to be perfect to put online. The tools they may use is the push and pull tool, you may use this to make the product smooth for example the t-shirt might be a bit un even and it can't be put online so you may have to edit n photoshop using this tool. they also can use The eye dropper, spot healing tool. these are the main ones they use to edit there images so its perfect to be put online.
Evaluate the following images
https://www.premierglam.com/clothing?product_id=653
https://www.asos.com/new-balance/new-balance-burgundy-suede-373-trainers/prd/9747736?clr=red&SearchQuery=new%20balance&gridcolumn=3&gridrow=2&gridsize=4&pge=1&pgesize=72&totalstyles=206
I think the first image shows a lot about Ecommerce. Because it has a plane white background. so this makes the product stand out more stand out and keeps it more focused on the product that they are selling. I think this is a very successful Ecommerce image because it is showing of the image very well and it has a place background. Also the lighting is very well exposed to get the right detail of the product when taking the image. But the photographer could of shown different aspects of the image so you know how it will look like on yourself. in the second image it is also a Ecommerce photograph because it has a plane white background. Also the product is the main focus of the background. I think that this is a very successful image because it shows off the products very well so it catches your eye when looking at it. but the photographer could of made both of the shoes in focus so we can see the shoes better. also to have a model to show what the product will look like before buying it online.

Studio - Still life single object
In today’s lesson i was focusing on Still life objects. To do this before we took photographs, we looked at two photographs that do still life objects photography. They are Albert Watson, Irving Penn.
In the First image i was taking a photograph of a bag of coffee beans. To do this I went into the studio and had a white background, Also had a studio light to get the right brightness and to get the right exposure for the still single object. Also had a tripod to get the right angle of the photograph. Then my camera settings were the shutter speed 1/8, Then put the Aperture to f11 and the ISO 100 to get the details of the single object and get the right contrast and brightness. Then I went onto Photoshop and put the brightness up to 45 and the contrast to 75 to get all the details of the object when taking the image.
Then in the second image i took a photograph of the same still single object but i laid out some coffee beans to give it a different aspects of the image. Also put this into black and white on Photoshop to give a different look to it. I also did the same settings as the first photograph and had my camera on a tripod in the studio with a studio light.
In the third image i took a photograph a of a can of coffee for the still single object. To do i went into the studio and had a white background the same as the first and second image. Also used a studio light to get the right brightness and make the background very white to get the object to stand out. Also my camera was on a tripod to get a still photograph of the object. Then my camera settings were at shutter speed 1/8, Aperture f11 and ISO 100 to get the right contrast of the image when taking the image. I also went onto Photoshop and edited the image to give the coffee can more stand out and show more of the detail of the object. I changed the contrast to 45 and brightness to 20 to give it a stand out look to the image.
In the fourth image i took a photograph of the same still life object. Also put this image onto black and white on Photoshop to give a different look to the image. I also had the same settings on my camera and on a tripod and studio light. To get a different Aspects still single object.

My photography - Context
This image of a Sign in a vintage shop. I really liked this because of the vibrant colours. Also really like the composition of the photograph because of the background and how the vibrant sign is in the main focus of the whole image. This was the main thing i was focusing on formal element colour to get the vibrant colour of the photograph.
The genre of photograph is colour and the vibrant of the photograph. The photograph is communicating a colorful vibe of the image, also the layout of the photograph catches the eye when looking at the image. Also what the story behind the photograph to give a different look to the image.
To make the photograph successful i could make it more central to give it a different aspects to the photograph. Also to try and get the colours to be more vibrant.
