When Their S/O Has a Higher Bounty...

Request: Hiii I don't rlly know if ur taking requests so sorry if ur not😅 but I was wondering if I could request head canons or just short fic of luffys, zoros, aces, and laws reaction when their fem s/o has a higher bounty than them but before they kind underestimated her(≡^∇^≡) tyy

Intro: It was a relaxing day on the Thousand Sunny, the Moby Dick, and the Polar Tang, respectfully. Each ship was on its own course, and each crew spent the day as they usually did, whether that meant games, chores, fishing, planning, training, lounging, etc. Around midday, like clockwork, a News Coo flew overhead their decks, dropping new wanted posters courtesy of the World Government. Some of the new bounties took people by surprise, especially your boyfriend.

Luffy

Laughs. Not in a condescending way, though. He is tickled that your bounty is higher. But he's also confused?

"She's not even that strong!" He says. Again, not out of malice, more like he is stating his observation. (Nami punches him for it).

You've been with Luffy long enough not to take such a comment to heart, so you play along. You smile and shrug, "Says who, Pirate King? You don't know what I'm up to when you're off on your solo battles."

He insists on sitting on the sidelines during your next fight. He cheers you on the whole time, complimenting your moves and staring at you in awe. He also ensures no one interferes, telling the rest of the crew that this is your fight.

You finish off your opponent without breaking a sweat. And before you take one step off the battlefield, Luffy is pulling you into a back-breaking hug. He wears his signature smile as he tells you every awesome thing you did during the fight. (He recaps the whole battle.)

Luffy's previous observation no longer holds any weight. He knows you are worth the higher bounty and is delighted to have such a strong girlfriend and crew member. After all, the future Pirate King deserves only the best.

Zoro

"What the hell?!" His eyes nearly pop out of his skull when he sees the numeric difference in your bounties.  

He likes that you're strong. He sleeps better at night knowing you can defend yourself. But this bounty suggests you are stronger than him, which leaves his pride a little wounded.

In Zoro's head, he's supposed to be the stronger one in the relationship. The boyfriend protects the girlfriend (he's traditional like that). He also thinks about his goal of being the strongest swordsman. He doesn't like the optics of his girlfriend being better than him. Luffy can be better than him because he's the captain; he's supposed to be the strongest of the crew. But Zoro's girlfriend?

He'll toss the new bounty aside and scoff, "It's probably a mistake, a misprint."

You're offended. What was a moment of pride and celebration turns sour because of your boyfriend's bruised ego. You cross your arms and glare at him, "Maybe if you didn't step in on every major fight I got into, you would know this bounty is accurate!"

That's when Zoro realizes he's never seen you fight. He always interrupts your brawls, insisting he can handle it and that you should worry about some lower-level threats. He does this because he has this unconscious need to protect you.

When you stumble across a few enemies again, Zoro stays out of your way. He has to fight to stay put, but he does. He watches your every movement, noting what you do well and what you can improve on.

He does not outright apologize for his earlier, brazen comment. Instead, he asks you to train with him and show him a few moves he observed during your fight. He also helps you with some of your forms. (He has your wanted poster pinned up in the gym and uses it to motivate himself)

Ace

When he sees your higher bounty, he laughs and shows it off to his family. They're all impressed, some teasing him, saying, "And we thought she was out of your league before!"

Like Luffy, he's a little confused. He's got a smirk on his face when he sits next to you, comparing your bounties. "You're not even a division commander, so how is your bounty higher than mine, sweetheart?"

You rest your head on his shoulder, chuckling a bit, "Pops had me run a few errands while you were tracking Teach. I guess I impressed the World Government. Don't worry, you'll catch up sooner or later, hot stuff."

He laughs at that, still wondering what you could have possibly done to warrant such a high bounty. But as the phrase "World Government" sinks in, he gets anxious. A higher bounty means more danger coming your way, and he knows one too many people who would love to cash in at your expense.

He needs to know you will be safe.

"Fight me." "What?" "Fight me. Right here, right now." "No, Ace, don't be ridiculous." "Please, Y/N. I need to know you'll be okay while I'm gone. Please, I can't lose you."

He sounds desperate, and you can feel his heartache when he shares his fear of losing you. Not to mention, he gives you such a puppy dog look - it's impossible to refuse. So you, reluctantly, fight Ace in front of the entire Whitebeard Crew. And win.

The crew goes wild, and Ace smiles as you help him up from the ground. He then hoists you up so you can sit on his shoulder, a firm forearm gripping your legs like a seatbelt so you don't fall. He shows you off like a trophy and announces that this is cause for a celebration (and a promotion for you). He's happy you can back up your bounty and even happier that you'll be safe.

Law

He gets a migraine.

All Law wanted was a chill girlfriend - was that too much to ask? He wanted someone who complimented his personality and acted as a haven for him in this messed-up world. Sure, she'd have a bounty because she's associated with him, but to have a higher bounty than him? After all the stunts he's pulled? Why?! How?! When?!

You would have earned this bounty while he was away fighting Doflamingo. When he inquires about it (he holds up your wanted poster and glares), you raise your hands in defense, "I handled one or two incidents while you were away. It wasn't anything big - that bounty is an overreaction on the government's part, I swear!"

He shakes his head and sighs. A crewmate with a higher bounty than the captain, what a pain. What did you even do? You weren't that strong when he left for his Doflamingo mission, and he's been gone only a few months, what changed?!

So, Law asks around. He interrogates Bepo, Sachi, Penguin, Jean Bart, and a few other crewmates to get a better picture of what he missed.

Every single person speaks of your bravery. They talk about your ferocity in battle against marines and other crews that got too close to Zou and the Heart Pirates for comfort. You lead with such dignity and fury that it intimidated everyone.

"It was like you never left, Captain," Bepo commented.

As the pieces fell into place and the picture became clear, Law smirked. Who knew you had it in you? He'll find you later to thank you for assuming leadership while he was away. He'll then pry for the gorier details of your fights, wanting to hear everything from the source. He'll also tease you a bit as you share, wondering where this side of you has been this whole time. There's a prideful smirk on his face as you talk.

Law will hang your wanted poster up in his office.
