i have never seen a joke more crueler in my entire life oh my god.
over the past seven months the NYT has pioneered the production of some of the most depraved, despicable, widely debunked genocidal propaganda to fuel further the ongoing genocide in Gaza. absolute joke of an industry. the sickeningly blatant and dare i say, gleeful display of such extents of moral corruption is frightening as it is appalling.

March 18th is the birthday of acclaimed American novelist, poet, and short-story writer John Updike (1932-2009). Updike was inspired to become a writer by his mother’s attempts to get published during his childhood and recalled fondly the memory of her writing desk with all its admirable equipment. By his early twenties, Updike had published a poem in the New Yorker as well as a collection of poetry with Harper & Brothers. His early successes went on to spur a prolific and varied career that included being one of only four writers to receive the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction more than once in 1982 and 1991.
To mark what would have been Updike’s 92nd birthday, we’re sharing his signed limited-edition chapbook Five Poems. Published in 1980 by Bits Press out of Cleveland, Ohio, Five Poems is letterpress printed in an edition of 185 copies with a hand-sewn binding and a clever rebus cover drawn by Updike.

Hi everyone. Slightly out of the ordinary message from me, but one I feel the need to send. I live near a pro-Palestinian encampment, and have spent so much time there since its opened. It’s been beautiful, fun, exhausting, eye opening, and one of the most important experiences of my life. I encourage everyone to visit one near you, to donate, to help the students in whatever way possible.
Watching what happened in New York last night via the local radio and Instagram lives was absolutely heart wrenching. I was sick to my stomach.
Next week, the Pulitzer Prize Awards will be held at Columbia. One small action item people can do is email the board (linked here) (and I put their emails in the comments) and encourage them to either boycott the awards, put out public statements, or support Palestine and brutalized student protestors in some other way.
On this day in 1950, Gwendolyn Brooks became the first Black American to win a Pulitzer Prize, for her collection of poems “Annie Allen.”
Ms. Brooks used her poetry to depict the struggles of everyday Black Americans. Using the sonnet-ballad — a method she invented — Brooks blended humor and irony to support themes of family life, war, honor, and hardships.
Today we celebrate her as a barrier-breaking icon and one of the most influential 20th-century American poets. ✍🏾💛
