I got a policy on all new tech that I don't know -- I hate it from the get-go, & it needs to prove it's useful before I'm willing to accept it.

If a piece of tech isn't improving anything, you don't need that tech*. You need what that tech is trying to replace.

*I'll specify that this is a case-by-case basis for each individual. I.E. I wouldn't buy a smart soap dispenser -- I can buy an analog one, & I have no difficulty using it or need to slap a sensor onto it, meanwhile somebody with fine motor movement issues might find it easier than trying to press down a hand pump.

#gale chatter #to be frank i hate smart tech so much it is unreal #why is your fridge on the wifi. why your grill needing an update. what the fuck are you connecting that roomba to cloud for #these things aren't necessary or secure. they are risks & holes in your system.#your roomba maps out your floors for cleaning then connects to your wifi. now somebody else can slink in & steal your floor plans #you got a smart lock on your car or door now somebody can make a phony signal or jam that lock to open it #my family members have their locations on at all times. who they're with. who they aren't with. if they're alone.#are they not fucking worried about that?#there is good tech out there there are genuine improvements but papering your house over with smart tech #& pretending you're in the jetsons isn't how we make genuine meaningful strives forwards with technology #& i honestly despise the trendiness of making this tech. what's that like? you want to make people happy & improve the world #& instead you're dishwasher that needs wifi #or bike armor that uses a subscription service #wild. it would make me hate my own hands. i would forevermore forsake actuators & wires & circuits.#engineers build whatever they can get funded to build & bc smart tech is trendy smart tech gets funded so they buils more smart tech #i hate it.
