➥ Sunjatti Astrology
The Sunjatti Zodiac doesn't much differ from, say, the Chinese Zodiac, though instead of the common twelve, they have thirteen repeating signs, each representing common personality traits and even granting certain buffs. It's a toss-up regarding who does and doesn't care about their birth sign, but mages almost always do, as the Zodiac, constellations, and moons all play into ritual and spacial magic (as well as divination & romantic compatability inquiries) to a degree.
The current year is 4E684, Year of the Hydra, and the yearly signs are as follows:
Red Wolf - Bestial Ice Sign, Sun
Gryphon - Aerial Beast Sign, Sun
Hydra - Spacial Ice Sign, Twin Moon
Widow - Necro Fire Sign, Twin Moon
Celare - Earthen Beast Sign, Sun
Newt - Earthen Fire Sign, Sun
Styxie - Aerial Fire Sign, Twin Moon
Siren - Necrotic Ice Sign, Twin Moon
Lixni - Bestial Ice Sign, Twin Moon
Seraph - Spacial Light Sign, Sun
Weasel - Earthen Beast Sign, Sun
Vixen - Bestial Fire Sign, Sun
Leech - Bestial Blood Sign, Twin Moon
Likewise, there are thirteen months and thirteen constellations a person could be born under within a Sunjatti year; Monthly names do not defer from the standard calander - the thirteenth month seems out of place for this reason. Each month is roughly 35-days long, running exactly five weeks instead of the typical four. Constellations, the moons' cycles, and other cosmic bodies and their placements are arguably far more important than the yearly zodiac signs, as they tend to have more of an effect on the circumstances of an individual's birth for...pretty clear reasons.
In years of the Hydra, draconic and divine constellations are more prominent, so it is more likely an individual will be born under certain stars and, perhaps, given a boon by the being represented by said stars. The constellations are as follows:
Worldeater - Dec. 23rd through Jan. 19th; Universal, draconic divine
Starstitcher - Jan. 20th through Feb. 17th; Spacial light, divine
Kingmaker - Feb. 18th through Mar. 16th; Light, magic divine
Face-Eater - Mar. 17th through April 20th; Bestial earth, beast divine
World Tree - April 21st through May 22nd; Earth, universal
Feywild - May 23rd through Sol 19th; Earthen light, non-divine
Voidsinger - Sol 20th through June 18th; Spacial light, divine
Hexbreaker - June 19th through July 20th; Spacial earth, divine
Bloodweaver - July 21st through Aug. 22nd; Blood, undead
Peacekeeper - Aug. 23rd through Sept. 25th; Earth, non-divine
Nullifier - Sept. 26th through Oct. 23rd; Null, non-magic & non-divine
Balemagus - Oct. 24th through Nov. 21st; Blood fire, non-divine
Silver-wing - Nov. 22nd through Dec. 22nd; Aerial beast, non-divine
As both the sun and moons are important to Sunjatti astrology as well, such should never be discounted when divining a person's past, present, and future.
Technically, Sunjatta has five moons, but the biggest and brightest - the moons one can actually see in the sky, day or night - have the greatest effect on Sunjatta and its functions as a planet. They are referred to as the Twins, or Twin Moons, but each have their own names and assigned meanings, with the moons representing femininity and womanhood and the sun (and stars) representing masculinity and manhood.
Petta - The second moon; Feminine energy, youth, space, romance, indecision
Arvati - The first moon; Feminine energy, age, ice, motherhood, decisiveness
T'sali - The sun; Masculine energy, middling, fire, warrior, neutrality
Alt'haiya - Lesser moon; Elfhen moon
Deluné - Lesser moon; Desert moon
Gôr - Lesser moon; Blood moon
