I basically cried my way through NYCC bc of what’s going on in I/P but I just about held it together to meet Michelle Gomez. Was expecting her to be funny (she is!) but was caught off guard by how incredibly sweet she is. Very happily listened to me talk about how Doom Patrol made me cry and said they all were just as emotional filming it (what are we in for). Signed my lil Mr. Men book to Laura from Laura (de Mille).

Anyway I am now desperately in love with her.

I'm not actually here until Wednesday at the soonest but-- I have some new followers, so please like this post for a small starter.

i have some Thoughts in general about something that's not specific to vinland saga but occurs with a lot of big epic stories that have redemption arcs from Evil Acts, ranging from parental abuse to emotional manipulation to murder to war crimes to genocide. and how sexual violence seems to be like..... the one thing your Redeemable Protagonist/Character cannot get back from, no matter the amount of people murdered and tortured beforehand. how sexual violence is viewed as like, something entirely separate from these other forms of violence, or as its Pinnacle that is too far to ever be redeemed from or recovered from. like no matter the evil immoral acts your character is gonna commit, at most they can be witnesses of sexual violence and look on in distaste and do nothing about it. in no way can they be participants, even though they participated in every other act and form of violence imaginable and didn't flinch at their peers participating in THOSE. anyhow i'm not gonna go into detail rn re these thoughts but..... i always find it kinda frustrating how sexual violence in this type of fiction is treated as separate from other forms of violence when they all are part of each other and feed of each other. it kinda obscures the way these systems and forms of violence function at all imo
