@magiaesabiduria asked ; Drabble thing: CONFIDE ( Luc & Eris post breakup "i miss you" or if we want more pain / possible jealousy "they help me forget" :))))))) up to you and really it can go either way as to which one would say it bc Luc could/would say either but i can see Eris saying either too)
remember you asked for this
She wasn’t even sure she wanted to meet for coffee, to talk, be sure they she could be civil around work. It was Hermione that suggested this meeting could do perhaps them both some good. Eris had been a mess and it was beginning to become increasingly obvious but then it all came to a head at the last stupid event she attended- Harry had been her date, specifically as friends, she had seen him disappear and found him at the bar with him. She chose to busy herself with a few friends she knew there, waiting for Harry to return telling her everything was fine and to try and enjoy her night. And she had until she turned her head and her eyes caught Lucius’ as he was leading an other woman out- who Eris couldn’t say, but she did know she apparated home shortly after.
Eris shook her head and gripped her cup, sitting up straighter when she heard the bell chime on the door and the tall, blonde man walked in. A man who once before she would have been overjoyed to see, standing from her seat and giving him a kiss but instead she fixed her eyes on the liquid in her mug- coffee, she’d made the switch shortly after their split, it was only a morning drink beforehand but now it was multiple cups a day. Merlin, she really was running on fumes, wasn’t she? It had only been a few weeks but she’d tried to change as much as possible in her routine and about herself, she’d trimmed her hair, not much but enough to be noticeble and she had begun to keep it straighter, in tamed waves rather than curls. Her clothes had also changed from dresses and skirts to pants and blouses or sweaters, though that may have been to hide any sign of weight-loss or because of the memories with Lucius that came flooding back to her every time she looked at her closet, really it could be both. “Eris,” Hearing his voice her eyes snapped up to his face, he was seated now across from her, studying her with those damned eyes of his. Once before she may had squirmed under his gaze, teased him about the intense look but not anymore. “Lucius.” She replied flatly, carefully bringing her cup to her lips, watching as his gaze moved over her once curly hair. “I like it better like this.” She answered his unasked question before it could leave his lips, she needed to change her hair, she needed to change everything that had reminded her of him. Eris shifted when the waitress came to their table to take Lucius’ order, keeping her eyes off him and instead people watching out the window as they fell into a long silence that was only broken after his drink had arrived.
“This is for Draco,” Eris pulled a folder out of her bag and slid it across the table towards him. “I, uh, I’m taking time off. Harry and Shacklebolt have already approved it, Harry’s said I’ve been too distracted lately.” Eris swallowed hard, turning her dull, grey eyes back to the man swearing for a moment she saw concern flash across his features. Sucking in a breath, she pushed her hair behind her ear and did her best to give him a small smile. “I’m going to be traveling, but incase anything happens to me those papers divvy up all my things between Draco and Harry, I want them both to have a copy so neither can contest my wishes. If you can give that to Draco for me?” As quickly as she placed the folder her hands fell back into her lap, perhaps Hermione had been wrong for once. This wasn’t a good ideal. She should have hunted Draco down and gave him the papers herself, she shouldn’t even want to talk to Lucius, be around him- he wasn’t her home anymore. Their relationship had been a fling, something of little consequence. “Where are you going?”
For a moment Eris thought about ending the conversation, she’d done what she had to do even if it wasn’t what Hermione had had it in mind, no the other witch thought it sensible to get Eris’ feelings out on the table but that was before... Before Lucius had already seemed to move on. It was already near torture sitting across from Lucius, but regardless, she’d managed it. “France first, some small towns there. I entertained the idea of Spain but I’d likely burn something awful,” She’d take this simple small talk, the fake interest Lucius showed in her life. “I took a page out of your book actually and bought an island, that’s the end stop. Kreachers already gone to get it ready for me. Some time alone will do me good, I’ve put a lot of people in a sate of worry the last month or so, even Draco has kept his sarcastic comments to himself since...” She shrugged and shook her head, “and Molly Weasley’s made me desserts to try and cheer me up, it hasn’t worked but the thought was there. You’ve clearly moved on, now it’s time for me to. ”
“You know, Lucius, I don't think I ever really was in love until I met you. I've loved other people but not in a romantic way, and I definitely never really opened up to them." She pushed the empty coffee mug away from her. "Leaving me forced me to learn a few new things about myself, and to keep learning." Now she was standing, adjusting her bag on her shoulder and smiling at him as she laid money down for both their drinks. "I don’t think I properly thanked you for that, so I guess, thank you. I’m glad I had to learn it with you.”
