"Do you think it'll make me feel better if I blamed you?" Buck didn't want to go there. Not with Rayne. Even thought the words were on the tip of his tongue.

He was hurt. He'd been worried. Rayne did not respond to his texts nor any of his calls. It almost felt like Abby all over again. Dropping off the face of the earth. Nothing. He did not want to be ghosted all over again. For a moment, Buck considered that he had been the problem. But there was another reason - there has to be another reason. Rayne was different. She was not an Abby.

"Well, what do you do on your day off? Not relax?" The firefighter questioned, eyebrows raised. The moment Buck was done with his 24hr shift was the same moment where Buck needed some relaxation.

Just throw himself on the bed and boom, relaxation has started the moment Buck passes out due to exhaustion. ( And the adrenaline that soon transformed into fatigueness. ) "It's easier to relax if you have a surface to sit down on."

He shouldn't feel this awkward. He's kissed plenty of women before, and plenty of men too. Buck was experienced and yet-- Buck's heart was pounding so hard. Ringing in his ears. He's surprised that no one could hear the obvious throbbing that Buck heard in his ears. But Buck soon found his courage. Rayne, in a sense, happened to be that; his courage. The way she looked at him gave him the sense of what needed to be done.

So he leaned forward and softly kissed her lips. Just to explore the possibility that something could spark between them.
