" THIS IS BEAUTIFUL , " vala says , looking up at the townhouse in front of her , though so far , she's still talking to herself since she hasn't actually made it in yet so she hasn't seen talia yet . she bounces up the the door , knocking before she reaches into the bag she's holding to eat a mouthful of gummies . she'd made most of the snacks she'd brought — except for the chips and gummies and fruit . but she'd brought tzatziki and chips and fruit and pastries and lots of little cakes and other treats — and maybe she'd gone a bit overboard because she'd been too excited to see her daughter and wanted to bring her lots of treats . she'd also brought a few housewarming gifts . she beams when the door opens and she drops her bag , launching herself at talia to wrap her arms around the younger dragon and press kisses to her face , nuzzling at her affectionately . " seriously , this is so beautiful . " she smiles . " i brought you snacks and gifts . "

THERE'S AN EXTRA BOUNCE to her step as she makes her way through the unseelie lands to the tower , despite the cold . now that she's moving again , and this time the climate will be harsher on her year round , she's going to have to get used to cold . anyways , it's always worth it to visit kaelie and inês . and unlike when she showed up at house wrath unannounced because she had no patience to wait for him to come to her , she was invited here . sort of . if texting the unseelie that she's coming over and receiving a confirming response counts as being invited . even though she's not sure how many people she wants to tell about the baby just yet , kaelie is among the short list of people she does want to talk to , since she's practically vala's sister . they've grown so close and vala doubts she'd be able to not mention it anyways , so better to plan on telling her than to keep it to herself . when she spots kaelie , she picks up her pace , smiling widely and reaching to hug her . " hi ! " vala presses kisses to her cheeks . " how are you ? how is inês ? " she asks , pulling back to look at kaelie . " i brought cake . " she turns to pull the package from her bag , holding it out to her friend . " and i have to tell you something . "

location  :  the  wander  wood

SHE  USED  TO  FLY  DAILY  ,  but  has  skipped  days  more  often  than  not  recently  .  now  though  ,  she  feels  calmer  ,  to  an  extent  ,  as  she  shifts  back  to  her  human  near  the  original  warlock’s  home  —  knowing  that  while  others  may  have  spotted  her  flying  ,  they’re  unlikely  to  find  where  she’s  landed  since  the  wards  around  the  property  only  allow  in  family  and  friends  ...  and  astra  had  allowed  vala  in  to  use  her  garden  .  though  the  dragon  suspects  that  allowance  is  more  thanks  to  aranya  than  any  kindness  from  astra  herself  . 

        she  wanders  through  the  garden  on  occasion  mostly  to  annoy  but  also  because  it  really  is  lovely  and  those  who  have  the  privilege  to  be  allowed  past  the  wards  are  rather  lucky  ,  she  thinks  .  the  space  is  peaceful  ,  though  not  quite  what  vala  is  looking  for  .  really  ,  with  how  on  edge  she  is  —  flying  didn’t  entirely  fix  it  like  it  used  to  —  she  probably  should  go  home  ,  find  julian  or  thalia  .  as  much  as  flying  did  help  some  ,  the  lack  of  sleep  is  putting  her  far  more  on  edge  than  normal  .  she’s  more  likely  to  snap  ,  to  cause  real  harm  .

        the  dragon  steps  past  the  warlock  family’s  property  lines  ,  humming  to  herself  as  she  wanders  further  into  the  wander  wood  on  foot  ,  bare  feet  sinking  into  the  grass  lightly  as  she  strays  away  from  the  path  .  she’s  paying  careful  attention  to  what’s  going  on  around  her  ,  and  she  stops  when  she  smells  someone  nearing  ,  watching  them  as  they  cross  in  front  of  her  while  they  actually  follow  the  path  .  she  intends  to  keep  quiet  but  all  plans  to  keep  to  herself  falter  when  they  notice  her  and  stop  .  she  just  offers  a  small  wave  ,  head  tilting  slightly  as  she  regards  them  .

*  COSIMO  DE’  MEDICI  (  @violentdesires​  )

THE  LACK  OF  SLEEP  is  making  her  grumpy  ,  but  she  feels  like  she  hasn’t  seen  cosimo  enough  and  she  misses  him  .  daily  i  love  you  texts  are  not  enough  .  so  she  had  put  together  a  pot  of  spaghettini  bolognese  for  him  ,  even  though  she  knows  she  does  not  technically  need  to  bring  food  .  but  she  knows  she  hasn’t  gotten  much  sleep  ,  and  she  doubts  that  cosimo  is  getting  much  sleep  ,  if  he’s  getting  any  at  all  .  and  maybe  food  will  at  least  be  a  comfort  .  

        she  makes  her  way  through  the  faerie  realm  to  the  medici  home  ,  holding  the  pot  so  that  it  stays  at  the  perfect  temperature  .  she  knocks  on  the  door  ,  humming  quietly  to  herself  as  she  waits  ,  and  offering  a  smile  to  cosimo  when  he  answers  .  “  i  brought  spaghettini  .  ”  vala  holds  up  the  pot  ,  already  stepping  into  the  house  so  she  can  set  it  down  and  wrap  cosimo  in  a  tight  hug  .

*  ANTHALAENA  DRAKON  (  @violentdesires​  )

SHE  LACES  HER  FINGERS  through  thalia’s  ,  lifting  her  hand  to  nuzzle  at  the  back  and  pulling  her  closer  .  she  aims  to  be  comforting  ,  she  does  not  want  thalia  to  worry  about  how  things  will  go  because  there  is  no  way  she’d  be  a  failure  at  being  a  dragon  .  whether  she  is  entirely  successful  at  flying  or  shifting  or  anything  else  is  not  important  .  vala  won’t  be  disappointed  .  all  she  cares  about  is  that  they  get  to  spend  time  together  .  whether  thalia  shifts  or  flies  or  whether  they  sit  somewhere  and  chat  and  snuggle  or  anything  else  ,  vala  just  wants  the  time  with  anthalaena  .  she  nuzzles  at  the  side  of  the  younger  dragon’s  head  ,  pulling  her  closer  to  her  .

        “  we  could  go  to  my  favourite  spot  by  the  lake  in  faerie  .  it’s  peaceful  ,  away  from  where  anyone  usually  goes  .  lots  of  space  .  and  i  mean  it  when  i  say  that  you  do  not  have  to  shift  or  fly  or  do  anything  you  do  not  want  .  ”  vala  offers  .  she  wants  thalia  to  feel  comfortable  ,  and  does  not  want  her  to  feel  forced  to  try  to  shift  and  fly  .  it  may  be  some  of  vala’s  favourite  things  ,  but  she  still  stands  by  her  offers  to  do  other  things  or  for  vala  to  shift  and  take  thalia  with  her  like  they’d  done  when  they  had  been  young  .

GOLD  EYES  BLINK  OPEN  ,  slowly  ,  before  the  dragon  shifts  and  curls  more  against  julian  ,  still  groggy  from  waking  up  after  another  sleepless  night  .  she  had  woken  him  up  around  two  in  the  morning  after  she’d  woken  up  screaming  from  nightmares  again  —  though  this  time  from  her  usual  nightmares  about  the  night  of  her  mother’s  death  —  and  it  had  taken  a  long  while  before  she’d  slept  again  .  she’s  too  excited  to  set  up  the  art  studio  to  actually  sleep  too  much  longer  ,  though  it’s  still  later  than  she’s  normally  in  bed  .  but  she  still  snuggles  up  against  her  best  friend  ,  nuzzling  at  him  when  she  feels  him  shift  .

        “  good  morning  ,  ”  she  mumbles  ,  snuggling  closer  and  pressing  her  face  into  his  shoulder  ,  not  wanting  to  actually  get  up  yet  despite  her  excitement  for  the  day  .  the  lack  of  sleep  is  starting  to  get  to  her  ,  and  no  amount  of  napping  during  the  day  is  helping  ,  considering  she’s  woken  from  enough  of  her  naps  from  bad  dreams  as  well  to  the  point  that  now  she  just  avoids  them  altogether  most  days  .

SILVER  EYES  SCAN  THE  ROOM  as  she  curls  her  arm  around  thalia  ,  nuzzling  at  the  younger  dragon  gently  .  while  on  one  hand  ,  she’s  excited  to  bring  thalia  to  their  first  party  since  her  resurrection  ,  parties  aren’t  exactly  vala’s  thing  .  but  she  is  glad  to  be  a  part  of  another  new-ish  thing  .  at  least  ,  parties  now  are  certainly  different  than  when  they  were  younger  ...  though  part  of  them  now  are  just  overwhelming  .  especially  since  the  attendees  are  not  all  people  they’ve  grown  up  with  .  but  she  has  thalia  here  ,  and  that  is  the  only  really  important  thing  .

        “  you  look  so  good  ,  vidita  ,  ”  vala  smiles  ,  pressing  a  kiss  to  thalia’s  forehead  .  “  is  there  anything  in  particular  you  want  to  do  ?  or  is  there  anything  you  want  to  make  sure  we  stay  away  from  ?  ”  vala  asks  ,  head  tilting  to  nuzzle  at  her  cheek  .

*  ARANYA  SINCHAI  (  @ycungodshq​  )

VALA  HAD  PUT  TOGETHER  all  of  the  ingredients  she  and  aranya  would  need  ,  as  well  as  bringing  utensils  and  baking  trays  ,  not  really  sure  what  the  vampire  had  already  and  not  wanting  to  have  to  make  any  trips  out  .  she  knocks  once  she  reaches  aranya’s  apartment  ,  smiling  brightly  around  her  box  of  goodies  when  the  door  opens  to  reveal  her  friend  .  “  so  i  might  have  brought  too  much  ,  but  whatever  we  do  not  use  you  can  keep  including  if  you  need  any  supplies  ...  i  was  not  sure  what  you  had  so  i  just  ...  brought  everything  .  ”  the  dragon  shrugs  .  

        “  and  snacks  for  while  we  bake  ...  because  i  always  want  snacks  .  ”  she  gestures  to  the  box  of  paparajotes  and  quesada  pasiega  sitting  on  the  top  of  the  box  .

*  AURORA  DE’  MEDICI  (  @wickedlvly​​  )

SHE  LOOKS  UP  from  the  ingredients  and  supplies  she’d  laid  out  on  the  counter  ,  smiling  at  her  niece  when  she  sees  her  slip  through  the  backdoor  to  the  peachy  dragon  .  “  hola  ,  muñequita  ,  ”  vala  greets  aurora  .  “  i  went  ahead  and  pulled  things  out  so  we  do  not  have  to  actually  go  through  the  whole  process  of  setting  up  .  ”  the  dragon  hums  ,  stepping  away  from  the  counter  to  wrap  rory  in  a  hug  .  she’s  been  looking  forward  to  this  since  they’d  first  discussed  it  .  baking  is  something  she  loves  and  she  is  so  excited  to  get  to  share  that  with  aurora  .  vala  leads  her  back  over  to  the  counter  and  points  to  the  bowl  of  peaches  and  plate  of  fried  dough  cookies  she’d  already  made  .  “  i  made  melocotón  en  almibar  and  borrachuelos  already  so  we  would  have  snacks  .  ”  she  says  before  holding  out  the  recipe  book  she’d  originally  put  together  for  her  staff  .

        “  i  thought  we  could  make  a  gazta  tarta  or  a  crostata  with  peaches  ,  but  it’s  entirely  up  to  you  .  ”  the  dragon  points  out  two  of  the  recipes  she’d  marked  .

*  JULIAN  RHODES  (  @violentdesires​  )

SHE  PULLS  HIS  ARM  AROUND  HER  ,  lacing  her  fingers  through  his  and  tucking  herself  into  his  side  as  they  step  into  the  party  .  the  dragon  glances  around  for  a  moment  ,  taking  in  the  decorations  and  the  crowds  ,  before  her  attention  returns  to  the  hybrid  ,  head  tilting  to  nuzzle  at  his  shoulder  affectionately  .  “  gummy  bears  ?  ”  she  asks  ,  because  maybe  starting  with  something  normal  is  good  .  before  she  drags  him  off  away  from  the  crowded  spaces  because  even  if  he  wasn’t  so  nervous  ,  she  still  hates  crowds  .  she  had  made  sure  the  paints  in  her  hair  wouldn’t  rub  off  on  anything  she  brushed  against  ,  at  least  ,  so  it  wouldn’t  end  up  all  over  julian  .

        “  i  know  it  isn’t  easy  ,  but  try  to  focus  on  me  and  not  everything  else  ,  ”  she  says  softly  ,  squeezing  his  hand  .  she  knows  it’s  not  so  simple  .  there’s  so  much  going  on  ,  between  the  people  and  the  alcohol  ,  though  maybe  less  people  will  smell  as  much  of  the  latter  earlier  on  .  but  maybe  if  they  try  ,  it  might  help  a  little  ?

Location  :  The Peachy Dragon

THE DRAGON IS ODDLY ENTHUSIASTIC as she stands in the front of her bakery and helps customers . but the only girl scheduled to retail had to go take care of her sick kid , so vala had begrudgingly slipped out of the back to help the older woman . but her demeanour shifts , a smile slipping across her face as the woman rambles about a bakery she used to go to in spain . the dragon’s face lights up at the mention of ensaïmadas . “  oh !  me encantan las ensaïmadas , ”  vala exclaims . she starts to apologise because she’d already run out , and promises to make the woman a batch later if she wants to come back in the morning . she keeps chatting to the woman in spanish as she wraps up what she’d already ordered , but as the woman waiting starts to grow clearly annoyed and starts tapping her foot , vala remembers why she hates customer service . she finishes wrapping up the pastries , and wishes the woman a good day before turning to the other customer .

      “  hello . ”  but the pleasant smile drops as the woman starts talking , complaining shrilly about the wait , about there being nothing left , about vala speaking spanish to the other client . “  if you are so in a hurry you do not have to wait . and if i am out of what you want is not my fault you came so late in the day . ”  the dragon rolls her eyes , no longer interested in continuing to try to help the woman , and turns to the other person still waiting . “  what can i get you ?  ”  she asks , making a shooing motion at the other woman .

SILVER  EYES  GLANCE  AROUND  ,  and  then  she  settles  on  the  ground  ,  sprawling  out  in  the  sun  ,  eyes  falling  shut  .  it’s  the  first  time  she’s  been  to  the  lake  in  a  while  ,  the  first  time  she’s  actually  just  doing  nothing  in  a  vaguely  public  space  ,  in  a  while  .  and  she  sighs  contentedly  ,  fingers  digging  into  the  sand  beside  her  .  she  hums  to  herself  .  she  growls  when  she  realises  she  didn’t  silence  her  phone  and  it  starts  to  ring  .  she  silences  it  ,  and  then  tosses  it  away  from  herself  .  she  should  have  left  it  home  ,  but  carrying  the  thing  around  had  become  habit  ,  at  some  point  .  but  now  that  it’s  tossed  aside  and  quiet  ,  she  relaxes  ,  sighing  contentedly  and  letting  her  eyes  flutter  shut  .  well  ,  until  she  smells  someone  else  ,  eyes  peeking  open  to  glance  up  at  the  figure  emerging  from  the  trees  behind  her  .  but  she  makes  no  other  move  to  acknowledge  them  ,  gaze  returning  to  stare  up  at  the  sky  instead  .

ARMS  ARE  THROWN  AROUND  KAELIE  before  she  can  even  greet  her  ,  and  vala  is  nuzzling  at  her  friend’s  cheek  for  a  moment  before  pulling  back  .  “  thank  you  .  ”  she  mumbles  .  “  also  hi  .  ”  she  adds  after  a  moment  ,  as  she  straightens  her  dress  some  ,  tugging  at  the  waist  for  a  second  before  leaning  and  pressing  a  kiss  to  inês’  head  as  well  .  “  hola  lapochka  .  ”  she  is  grateful  that  kaelie  is  letting  her  stay  with  her  while  she  figures  out  what  she  wants  to  do  for  a  more  long-term  residence  ,  though  maybe  staying  near  the  night  court  will  be  better  .  she’ll  be  closer  to  kaelie  and  inês  ,  and  she  doesn’t  mind  staying  in  a  colder  climate  for  them  .  though  ,  she’s  still  not  entirely  sure  what  thalia  wants  .  she  doesn’t  seem  to  mind  one  way  or  the  other  ,  but  vala  thinks  she’s  just  trying  not  to  stress  vala  out  ,  in  case  vala  isn’t  entirely  happy  with  what  she  does  want  .  which  ,  vala  wouldn’t  actually  ask  her  to  live  anywhere  she  doesn’t  like  .  but  she  pulls  herself  from  her  thoughts  ,  offering  a  small  smile  to  her  friend  .  “  how  are  you  both  ?  ”

FLYING  HAS  ALWAYS  HELPED  ,  though  ,  it  doesn’t  fix  her  problems  .  even  if  the  dragon  wishes  it  would  .  but  usually  it  helps  clear  her  head  .  usually  .  though  ,  she  isn’t  sure  she’ll  be  entirely  calm  for  a  while  ,  at  least  .  her  anxiety  too  high  to  actually  calm  down  with  one  flight  .  and  she’s  too  tired  to  stay  in  the  air  for  as  long  as  she  normally  would  .  so  she  lets  herself  settle  in  a  clearing  ,  far  enough  away  from  things  that  she  thinks  she’ll  be  on  her  own  .  she  huffs  ,  claws  careful  not  to  rip  into  the  ground  as  she  lands  —  always  more  careful  of  the  faerie  realm  than  the  mundane  .  she  only  then  realises  that  someone  else  has  just  barely  stepped  foot  into  the  clearing  ,  and  she  tilts  her  head  for  a  moment  before  she’s  shifting  ,  arms  clasping  her  elbows  behind  her  back  as  she  regards  him  quietly  .  

          “  hello  .  ”  the  greeting  comes  out  after  another  moment  ,  and  her  head  tilts  again  as  she  watches  him  .

Location  :  the  duelling  grounds  .

SHE  CURLS  HER  ARMS  AROUND  THALIA  ,  nuzzling  at  her  and  pressing  a  kiss  to  her  hair  .  the  older  dragon  had  already  set  up  targets  ,  and  she  is  so  ,  so  excited  to  show  her  sister  how  to  use  their  abilities  ,  now  that  she  finally  has  the  chance  .  but  she  needed  a  moment  for  cuddles  first  .  “  is  this  okay  ?  i  can  see  if  i  can  find  somewhere  else  ,  or  see  if  julian  or  someone  can  take  us  to  my  property  in  spain  and  we  can  do  it  there  .  but  this  should  be  contained  enough  ,  and  no  one  else  is  around  ,  anyways  .  and  we  don’t  have  to  switch  time  zones  .  ”  she  rambles  ,  fingers  lifting  to  card  through  thalia’s  hair  .  “  i  also  brought  coffee  and  sweets  .  ”  she  adds  after  a  moment  .  the  rambling  ,  she  thinks  ,  was  not  something  she’d  done  as  much  when  they’d  been  younger  .  but  the  excitement  to  be  around  anthalaena  ,  that  is  still  the  same  .  she  loves  her  so  much  .  thalia  and  vik  had  always  been  her  favourites  .  although  she’d  loved  all  of  their  siblings  .  but  she’d  been  closest  to  thalia  and vik  .

SHE’D  ALREADY  MEASURED  OUT  most  of  her  ingredients  ,  and  had  already  put  together  a  chunk  of  what  she  wanted  to  make  .  she  turns  around  ,  slipping  into  the  pantry  and  reaching  for  an other  container  ,  fingers  wrapping  around  it  and  barely  avoiding  dropping  anything  as  she  stumbles  back  into  the  doorway  ,  container  of  sugar  clutched  to  her  chest  as  she  does  .  the  dragon  looks  over  at  julian  sheepishly  ,  shrugging  .  “  in  my  defence  ,  i  was  born  with  wings  and  a  tail  .  ”  she  says  ,  as  if  she  doesn’t  spend  most  of  her  time  in  this  form  .  she  sets  the  container  on  the  counter  and  bumps  her  shoulder  against  julian’s  .  “  so  i  want  to  do  a  version  of  our  peach  tarts  ,  and  lemon  bars  ,  and  chocolate   ...  something  .  and  then  i  need  some  cake  options  to  be  available  for  orders  .  ”  she  says  .  “  but  ,  i  think  lemon  bars  are  a  good  starting  point  ...  right  ?  ”
