Hello and welcome! This is an independent RP blog for Grantaire from Victor Hugo’s novel Les Misérables. His portrayal is based mostly off the novel and the musical, with my own personal headcanons where things fit in. Down below, I’m linking a couple of things I recommend you check out. Look. I think you all know by now that e/R is that super AU ship for me that needs so much development that it’s pretty close to Not Happening.

But I would sell my soul to ship these two in a Hogwarts verse because I am a sucker for Slytherin/Gryffindor relationships.

Harry Potter AU in which Grantaire jokingly wraps his Gryffindor scarf around Enjolras’ neck because “you pull that colour off a lot better than I do” and it then becomes a thing™ he does because a) Enjolras does pull it off better and b) the other students give them such funny looks that he just can’t help it.

When I first did the Pottermore sorting quiz for Grantaire, I really didn’t get how he ended up as a Gryffindor, but... I did some thinking and realised that he’s such a damn Gryffindor??

The thing is, I once again forgot that the sorting isn’t necessarily about the actual personality of the kid, but what they value most. Like Hermione. She’d fit perfectly into Ravenclaw regarding her personality, but she is ultimately placed in Gryffindor because she values courage more than intelligence. She even says that herself; books don’t matter, but courage does.

The same applies to Grantaire as well. I mean, look at him joining Les Amis! It’s not that he himself is brave enough to fight and die (at least not until the very end), but he truly values this bravery in the rest of Les Amis. This courage truly speaks to him and he believes it to be the best trait one can have, so of fucking course he’s a damn Gryffindor.
