Character Information

A path had already been planned for James Jones. It was neat and it was tidy. There was no room for error along the way, everything needed to be perfect. That was the part he played. No mistakes, no shortcuts, no steps out of line to follow his own way. 

If he was to become a gentleman, then this was the way forward. 

The reins loosened when he went to university, no longer under the watchful eye of his parents. Still, he kept on the path, as it was the only one he knew this far into the woods. That was until he met Samuel Smiegel, or Smee as James had deemed him. A boy who was different from those he usually came across, ones that were just like him, fulfilling the role they had expected to become since birth. James was then introduced to a whole world of possibilities. One where he would get to step in any direction he liked. Leaving his life behind had been a lot easier than he realized, the barriers and chains he thought bound him to it were nothing more than empty threats. He could see that now that the blinders had been taken off.

This new found freedom brought the real James to the surface. A man reborn on the waves of the sea. A gentleman he could have never been when it was a pirate’s life that he fit into so perfectly. Getting a foothold into the poaching ring took some time. The ocean gave them plenty but it always took something in return for it. 

A boat. A hand. A hook. A legacy. 

Of all the adventures he had gone on over the years the last one he thought would be to fall in love, let alone become a father. At his age it had seemed impossible. And it was. Even on land he could not escape the sea’s push and pull, the give and take. A partner. A son. A birth and a death on the same day. He remained on land, vowing to raise the boy up there until he was old enough to join him back on the boat. 

That time has finally come. Revenge was only on the horizon.
